Got to be joking, nato. It can happen to any club. That’s why we have a substitute. Contact sports, got to expect bumps and bruises. Whether you get injured 5 mins into a game or last 5 mins. Roll of the dice
What else could Maynard do. Tried to smother a ball. Can’t change direction in the air. There was no dropping of the shoulder or lifting the elbow. As for disadvantaged, what you want to do. Restart the game again so they have a full complement of players to start with. All teams get injuries, players can’t play
Considering how the MRO has gone this season, accidents don’t seem to be much of a factor. Looks to be careless contact to the head that caused a concussion. I agree there doesn’t look like much he could do but the MRO seems to punish all these incidents on the outcome not the action
I don’t think Maynard could have done much more, he certainly didn’t do anything wrong and Brayshaw surely has to try and protect himself somewhat from the contact? Glad Brayshaw is up and about in the rooms now according to commentators, so not off to hospital. Just an unfortunate accident IMO. Never want to see a player hurt, or a player miss a final due to concussion protocols or for accidental contact.
Good to hear that about Brayshaw. I can agree there isn’t really much Maynard could to do prevent it, but with how inconsistent the MRO has been just makes me question it more.
At first thought I could say it just seemed a lot worse for the action making it more unfair in my eyes. This is mainly due to last season with Stewart and Prestia and how Prestia was out early but Stewart got to continue on with a great game, to then get suspended for multiple weeks.
I can agree it really isn’t that unfair now looking back but in the moment it seemed a lot worse
Wait What? Is there a SC finals competition on ? Or am I just the first to bite?
With
A. Maynard/Brayshaw
B. VanRooyen/McStay
A.Where’s the duty of care for all players, when a player is allowed to take the field that has had multiple concussions and is felled at the drop of a hat compared to
B. A player that is elbowed in the jaw, knocked out and continues playing by passing concussion protocols.
If the roles were reversed and Brayshaw copped one to the chin then that adds weeks to the suspension purely because of his history, how is that fair in a contact sport like AFL?
NO LATE CHANGES
SUBSTITUTES
Collingwood: Jack Ginnivan
Melbourne: Bailey Laurie
Evening all,
After a week of no AFL footy we are back with an absolute cracker of a game.
If your team is playing in the Finals, good luck and may you win.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers
CT.
Feel really bad for Brayshaw there. 5 minutes into the game and out with concussion.
Dees set with an unfair disadvantage due to that

I find it unfair when it is caused by an opposition player. They cannot receive punishment during the game if necessary. No carded system
If he did a hamstring it is a disadvantage but fair

If a smother is not a footy act then I have no idea about footy. Player has nothing to answer for.
Just like all the tackles that got called holding the ball but then caused suspensions
I can probably say it better as more unlucky than unfair, but still I hope all is good for Brayshaw considering have multiple previous concussions.
Would like to hear others thoughts since there are more of you here but haven’t commented

Dees entries appalling but atleast I’ve drilled Gawn VC.
I am glad that I went for Oliver as VC.
