Game Chat – Fremantle v Gold Coast

Written by Motts on June 12 2021

Where and when: Optus Stadium at 4:15pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 8, 2020:  Gold Coast 10.4 (64) DEF Fremantle 8.3 (51) at Carrara.

Last five: Suns 2-3, Freo 1-4

Match Preview: Fremantle is coming off a stinger against the Dogs but did well to only go down by 5 goals. 2 weeks ago, the Suns did a number on the Hawks at home and last week had the bye so they’ll be fresh. Should be a pretty even game but the home ground advantage should see The Dockers prevail.

Mottsy Watch:

Fremantle
Fyfe, Cerra, and Brayshaw.

Gold Coast
Miller, Greenwood and Lukosius.

Mottsy’s Tip: Freo by 15 points (tipping record 26/35).

  2. Afternoon all.

Just Brawshaw in this one for me. He could go 70 or 120+ , I’m hoping for the latter.

I will be keeping a close eye on Rowell and Miller also.

I have always rated Lukosius as a player. If he can stay at H/B, he could be a guy that breaks out in the back half of this season.
I’m sure Wighty hopes he can 😉

Best of luck to everyone today, and go Freo!

    1. Afternoon, FT.

Yeah, Lukosious named at HB and played his best games there – I grabbed him.

Also got Miller in this one. Really rate him and think he’s a great pick long term, but probably cops Serong today.

Think the Dockers get up and Brayshaw @ home with no Fyfe can do 120 np.

      Good luck.

    2. Brayshaw not Brawshaw ugh .

Watching Matty Rowell warm up I can’t help but wonder when the oz kick kids are going to start tucking in their jumpers.

      1. I love the tuck, it’s a nice look.

Serong straight to Miller. Vice grip, no surprise.

        1. Hey GD.

Touk Miller looks unlikely to be affected by the Serong attention. His running ability and footy smarts put Serong in the shade.

He reminds me a bit of Steele. They both spent a few years doing run with- tagging roles.

They both now seemed to have all the tricks to lose their oppo and carry on getting the ball.

Luko looks good too. Well done mate.

Brayshaw looks to be going backwards 🙁

          1. Yeah, loving Miller.

Luko, on the other hand, dropped an intercept mark, then got caught HTB and has now been on the bench for 11 minutes ffs.

            Brayshaw will still ton, dw.

      1. Oh no!

Powell having a blinder can’t help.

Pretty poor game so far. Both teams putting up great pressure, but its resulting in a very scrappy affair. Lets hope it opens up a bit in the second half.

    3. Afternoon FT.

      Good luck with the Dockers.

No players for me in this game against your Brayshaw.

      Have a good weekend.

      1. Thanks CT.

Brayshaw and Freo looked much better that qtr.

Touk Miller looks an absolute Uber this year.

I’m very tempted to delay finishing my team, so I can get him next week !

Best of luck for the rest of the long weekend.

  3. I’m not sure if he’s still suffering from his ankle injury or maybe just in crap form but Cerra has been a disaster the past month. Looks way off the pace today and is on track for another dud SC score.

    1. Hi GD,
I have not seen any of this game, as busy today.

Luke Ryan looks to doing well. Has he been playing tall?

      Have a good weekend.

      1. Not really it’s just that the ball is pinging back and forth between 50s with the really bad execution by both teams. Ryan can’t not help eat up possessions as he’s basically being force fed by crap footy skills and plenty of loose ball.

          1. Yeah, I thought Ryan would have to play accountable to cover Cox but, no, been playing as the spare sorta. Suns very poor entries, like HP said.

    1. Breakeven of 5.

No real growth until his medical sub debut score of 21 goes out of the cycle. That is if he scores better but being a small forward who knows?

  4. I don’t know how it’s possible but Freo’s entire midfield brigade may not have a player crack the tonne. The skill levels of this team today has been shocking. They’re absolutely a team to stay clear of in SC.

    1. Funnily enough Treacy is my R3 and wouldn’t have got a gig if Reeves had not been a late withdrawal.
I even remembered to throw the E on him

    1. I have him on my watchlist as a cheap M9, if he posts up a couple good scores in a row (looks like that won’t be for a few weeks yet).

  6. Didnt watch, what happened with bowes. Was monstering his way to a big score at the half, and then stayed the same, was worried hed reinjured his hamstring or smth but his TOG seems decent.
