Game Chat – GWS v Collingwood

Written by Motts on June 26 2020

Where and when: Blacktown, Friday 26 June 2020 • 7:50 PM (AEST)

Last time they met:

Who could forget? The Preliminary Final, Saturday September 21, 2019

Collingwood 7.10 (52) def by GWS 8.8 (56) at the ‘G.

What it means for GWS: They’d love to back up to prove the PF wasn’t a fluke. They also love to arrest their slide since the return with soft losses to North and the Dogs.

What it means for The Pies: Vengeance! Retribution! A chance to atone for the loss that cost them a spot in the Grand Final.

Mottsy Watch: With Grundy as my VC I’ll be keen to see him perform. Other than that, I’d love to see Cogs go large and for the Pies rooks to put in a decent showing.

Mottsy’s Tip: Collingwood by 30 points. They’re going to prove once again that they’re the benchmark so far this season.

    1. I remember he returned from injury in R9 last year with a 170. Secretly hoping that happens again lol.

  1. If Kelly doesn’t go big tonight, I’m done. Can’t handle the low tons, inevitable injuries and then subsequent mental ju-jitsu that the GWS medical staff play.

  2. Unrelated matter:
I have Sauce at R2 and Xerri at R3, and one trade to use in this round. Keeping Sauce and taking Xerris score is crazy thinking…. right???

  3. TU – Play T Brown on field or
TD – Leave M Pickett on field to take McInerney’s Em. score of 74 & bench Brown

    1. Don’t think the difference would be too much Lisa (i.e. if Brown passes it, it won’t be by much). More to lose than gain here really if you gambled on the 74.

  4. Needs to be a limit on the amount of players that can dye their hair bottle blone per team. Trying to follow Noble, but every 3rd Collingwood player lookin’ like a back up cast member on Home and Away.

      1. Whitfield very similar stats and impact as Howe from the quarter of footy I just watched. Scoring disparity is ridiculous…

Thought Whitfield wasn’t playing this week when I didn’t see him in in’s . Forgot he played last week (:

    1. Nah, they probably scratch the tall timber all together imo. Both duds. Grundy can do it all himself.

  8. Is Leon Cameron’s poor coaching being partially masked by a packed list at GWS? They have under performed significantly over the years and with their season looking shaky, he has their captain and best inside mid parked up forward where he can’t get a touch.

    1. Started really well, just getting hit up less as things hot up. Pies going for reliable users and targets.

  11. Is Cogs injured, out of form or are they parking him forward deliberately? Should I panic or will he OK?

  14. Nice 60 odd point last quarter from Grundy.
    People taking his VC score?

    T/U: a bird in the hand….
T/D: Neale will go massive and shorter games has a player going huge every game….

    1. FD wrote a great article last year about long term averages…..everyone reverts to them…even Neale. Take Grundy. Remember Jeremy Howe ?

  15. Take Nobles score of 69?
Or run the risk with Rivers?

    TU – Take Nobles 69.
TD – Take a risk with Rivers.

Comment – Bench Brander and field Noble and Rivers.

    Cheers in advance.

  16. Bucks in his presser just said early diagnosis on Howe is MCL & PCL… ‘I don’t think we will see him for a while’.

Must trade by the sounds of it. Shame as he was flying this year.
