Game Chat – Melbourne vs Collingwood

Written by Thommo on August 15 2020

Where and When: GABBA, Saturday 15 August 2020 at 5:10pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 21, 2019: Collingwood 10.10 (70) def Melbourne 7.11 (53) at the MCG

What it means to Melbourne: This is a big game for the Dees. They are just outside the top 8, they have a healthy percentage and a game in hand so a win allows them to remain in touch or even jump into the top 8. If they lose to a fragile Pies outfit, their chances of playing finals diminish.

What it means to Collingwood: The Pies best is good enough to compete with the top sides but they were less than convincing in defeating the Pies last round. If they can keep sneaking wins until they regain their injured players, they remain in the hunt for October or November glory.

Supercoach watch:

Dees: Oliver, Petracca, Vines, Gawn

Pies: Adams, Crisp, Pendles, Sidebottom, Grundy

Thommo watch: I finished my midfield with Oliver this week (kind of!) so let’s see if I can kill off his hot streak.

Thommo’s Tip: Dees by 6 points.

  1. FFS I caught in a Uni meeting and didn’t manage to trade Gawn, so i have now made a massive move, trading out Conroy for De Koning

      1. for all i know it may be a massive benefit as Pittonet out for the Blues. May be a golden trade in disguise

  2. Yep. He’s only been in AA form all year and a competition leader in hard ball gets and score involvements – but yes, Goodwin, why don’t you go ahead and move Petracca OFF the ball, you f*cking clown.

    1. Brought him in round 2 after his great start to the year as well as looking the end of last year being in good form. Was hoping he would continue it through the season, but averaging only 85, not breaking 90 except for round 1.
Averaging 19 disposals a game for the season, just isn’t converting it to SC points.

Held him through this whole season, trading other before upgrading him.

  5. Devon Smith OUT tomorrow is gunna hurt coaches who haven’t managed to off load him yet – like me, – & my emergency means I get 25 from Georgiadis. This round just gets better & better.

    1. yeh , this year sucks
there’s no skill to it , its all luck
i could have moved smith into the midfield & taken starcevic’s 100 E
instead with no teams available , get no access to starcevic’s score
& get a doughnut from smith in the fwd line
we are all just going through the motions this year ,
waiting to be screwed @ selection

      1. Average of 100. Why don’t you rate him, who around his price in a couple weeks 450k would you pick instead (I’m open for lots of options)

        1. not going to be a lot around @ 450k
just had a look @ his stats
better than i thought , hub life must agree with him
          probably wont drop below 480
          maybe caleb daniel
personally if going to pay up 450 k for a defender with 4 games to go
id be paying upwards of 500 for a gun

          1. Agree, depends how much cash I have when I’m upgrading d6. Already got Caleb and Haynes so can’t target them as fallen premos

  7. Last minute trade before the Brisbane game of
    Starcevich (99) to Ruscoe (20)
Has to be sheer bad luck.
