Game Chat – North v Brisbane

Written by Motts on August 15 2020

Where and when: Metricon Stadium, 2:35pm (AEST)

Last time they met: R18 2019, Brisbane 12.15 (87) DEF North 12.3 (75)

What it means for North: Respectability. The coach has said they’ll be showing something this week. Let’s see it.

What it means for Brisbane: After last night’s game against their two rivals in the Top 3, a win over the Roos would be great for their Top 2 chances.

Motts Watch: Looking forward to seeing how North perform with their backs to the wall and something to prove.

Mottsy’s Tip: Lions by 40.

  1. Hmmm…. interesting change. Walker will have to head down back. Shouldn’t effect Goldy too much but at this stage of the season Shaw’s definitely experimenting so you just never know.

  2. North are still a finals chance. Don’t write them off. Comfortably the best coached group in the AFL. To top it off, their list is filled with young stars (Goldy, Higgins, zeibell, Polec) etc.

  3. TU: Take Lloyds 137 VC score as Captain (means taking Wicks 34 emergency score and benching Ruscoe)

TD: Risk Captain on Macrae, T Mitchell or Grundy, means Wicks stays benched as E and I run with Ruscoe on field

    1. OK then – so if I’m taking the risk (and need to decide quick as my only non player to throw onto the field as Captain if I want to take Lloyd’s 137 ) is Skinner from BL

      TU : Captain Macrae
TD: Captain Grundy with no Gawn

  4. I’ve lost the plot and have gone Noble to L.Mcdonald. with the announcement of extra trades with the upcoming byes I’m going balls-to-the-wall high risk and hoping McDonald keeps his roaming loose defender/mid role and praying he isn’t going to get used as a tagger again.

    1. Yep. I like it, HPlate.

Not to take anything away from those ranked highly rn, but SC is basically a dice roll rn. Have some fun.

  5. What I’d like to see today:
    Neale go huge
Goldy and the Big O not cancel each other out
North to not turn over the ball in their back half.
    North by 1 point
That’s not too much to ask is it?

  7. Can’t believe Neale’s quarter time score. Very happy to take it, but barely sighted in first quarter.
He definitely makes the most of his contested ball/clearances

  10. Far out Starcevich, have put up with your mediocrity for weeks and now you decide to score 48 in half a game of football! I traded you for Wicks….

    1. Don’t Worry Lisa
Will probably go missing in second half and I’m sure you utilised cash to make an upgrade somewhere else .

    1. Gotta love this game. I watch scores on fan footy and the chat….one poor dude didn’t know Xerri was a late in and had c loop on him.

  15. Lyons laying low and scoring that 100* doesn’t get the attention of the opponents like Neale, Mccluggae

  16. Brisbane sneak home, hoping Neale can be boosted up to 140 so i can comfortably lock in as vc. Besides that very happy with Simpkin and once again Lyons does the business. 5 round average of 127 with 2% ownership. As for the lions they look the goods but cant kick straight and think theyre missing a a grade big forward to support hipwood to really challenge for the flag this year.

  18. North just lacking a bit of polish.
I suspect that the likes of Polec Pittard Hall and Wood will have plenty of time to improve their tans
Very happy with the effort and spirit…..as for the result…..geez it would have been great to steal it.

    As for my earlier post.
Neale whilst not going huge was very solid.
Minimal defences turnovers and Brissie didnt make us pay full penalty.
Goldy and Big O both scored well.
Cause for optimism with what I saw today

  19. Neale 138 according to Fox Footy which seems to have accurate scaling immediately post game.

Think we have to lock that in, only thing making me question it is Macrae projected score 163…!!

    Nah, lock in Neale.
Captain for second week in a row Big Maxy
