Game Chat – Richmond v Brisbane

Written by Motts on July 16 2021

Where and when: Carrara at 8:05pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 10, 2021: Brisbane 15.12 (102) DEF Richmond 11.8 (74) at The Gabba.

Last five: Richmond 1-4 (!), Brisbane 3-2

Match Preview: Woke up on Monday morning this week to the headline that the Tigers are cooked. Based on their last 4 outings, it’s hard to argue. The last team they beat was Essendon on June 5. They’ll be making all the right noises during the week about being confident that on their day they can beat anyone in the league but that’s what they said last week before getting run over in the last by a determined ‘Pies outfit. Brisbane meanwhile will be smarting about they way they got touched up by the Saints at home. They’ll be coming in angry but will need to defeat the mental demons associated with the MCG -a ground they have not won at since round 21, 2014. The X factor is JRoo’s 300th.

Mottsy Watch:

  2. Evening, all. Hope everyone had a good week.

Neale VC, Big O, Short and Martin for me.

Hoping Nankervis is a late out so Big O can feast.

  3. Can anyone shed some light on Matthew Parker? I need a forward rookie..

TU – M Parker – $141K – does anyone know why he is on the more expensive side for a rookie that hasn’t played a game yet? How is his JS?
TD – Ginnivan – $102K – not played a game yet but cheap and been emergency a couple of times?

    1. Parker played two games last year (37.5 av), so he’s a touch over basement price.

Tigers, historically, been better with giving rookies a run. If he can deliver the goods, he’ll keep a spot.

      I’d go Parker.

  4. Not 100% sure Lisa, but St kilda had a Matthew Parker last yr or yr before. Might be the same guy.

    1. Just my personal point of view but buddy hasn’t been SC relevant for a few years now. Injured too much for my liking.

  5. Can we trust Marshall to stay on the field? Needing to fill my F6 position, still tossing up between Marshall (as I have Edwards at R3) or DeGoey (getting more midfield time)

    TU: Marshall
    TD: DeGoey

Will be trading out CCJ so need to make a decision tonight before the game starts.

    1. Marshall gives you some peace of mind if you have the two big rucks in Gawn and Grundy and they get rested in finals etc …

    1. Thanks CT, great shout.
Giants Suns getting moved to Sunday has given me Whitfield as a c loophole if I need it

  7. Got zorko, dusty and bolton tonight. Really would like dusty and bolton to step up. Bolton has been a dud since i brought him in, originally brought him in for his consistent scores………

  9. I know he has been good for SC too, but this is more about just footy: Dev Robertson looks to be a very, very good player.

  10. Am I a fool for think Dan Rioli at F6 on the run home? Currently I am using Maddern, Waterman, Brockman and looping CCJ.

    TU: Get on him

    TD: Get off the gas

  11. Neale VC looking good GD!

Short doing us owners proud, love watching him.

Bolton seems stiff to not be 50+ been very good, on the flip slip Zorko been poor and lucky to be on 31 IMO

  12. Lions are like deer in headlights against Tigers each time they play them aren’t they … pretty poor on their behalf … and should have had a lot going for them tonight, especially given how poor Tigers have been of late …

    1. Brisbane still off the pace macca, tigers not at full strength fixed up pretenders. Check sc scores all of lyons , neale etc crack the ton with no real impact.

      1. Great win, Bruce. Coming out of poor form and with your injury list, huge.

        Congrats.

Tigers to play finals easy, won’t be surprised if they go deep.
