Where and when: MCG, 7:50pm (AEST)
Last time they met: The 2020 GF: Richmond 12.9 (81) DEF Geelong 7.8 (50) at The Gabba.
The under lights Gabba clash had it all: injury carnage, a remarkable recovery, a comeback, two stretchers, pitch invaders, pyrotechnics and an entertainment package that will make the debate for day Grand Finals a harder sell in 2021. But mainly it again illustrated the brilliance of Martin and the Tigers, who came from 15 points down at half-time to secure their 13th flag and first consecutive flag since their 1973-4 triumphs. In a game full by superstars on both sides, it was Richmond’s who rose to the occasion. Martin was again exceptional, following his 2017 and 2019 deciders with another standout game. The game’s best player proved it with a high-impact game across half-forward, while Patrick Dangerfield, Geelong’s own match-winner, was subdued. Geelong Coleman medallist Tom Hawkins kicked one goal from 10 disposals, with Mitch Duncan (25 disposals, one goal) the Cats’ best.
Match Preview: The Tigers aren’t getting any favours with the draw at the moment. Fresh off facing the Dees and Dogs, now they’ve got to front up and play the Cats. They’ll be coming in confident after a win last week but know that the Cats will be playing with a bit of fire in the belly after losing in the last game of 2020. Should be a ripper.

Late change Geelong
FINAL TEAMS – LATE CHANGE for Geelong :
Esava Ratugolea IN, Rhys Stanley OUT.
Medical subs
Richmond – Patrick Naish
Geelong – Quinton Narkle
Is this Chris Scott trying to be smart?
Earlier in the week Geelong said Esava Ratugolea would ruck but they named Rhys Stanley in the teams. Now they make a late change!
With teams to be announced on Thursdays look for Scott to make late changes as he often did in the past. He said that all teams announced 48 hours before game day are a guide only.
Very clever by Scott, tigers coaching staff will be thrown in to dissaray by this tactic.
Say what you want about Bevo, its Chris Scott for mine
Ummm, Mottsy, I think you might be watching for the wrong players……unless of course you know even more about Magnets and Scotty than we do…..LOL
Haha, well picked up Chameleon!
Got one hour to decide. Jordan Clark too
TU : may (409k)
TD: Bowes (479k)
Wow why such a landslide? Haha
Thoughts on RCD’s JS…?
Richmond a strong side … and the way things are going with various clubs and many rookies getting left on the sidelines … I’d be hesitant to trade in a guy unless he is on the bubble and playing …
Gulden to RCD ?
To trade in Guthrie or Bolton?
RCD Thumbs up
Murphy thumbs down
Would like SC to let us know early if they are going to give extra trades this year
Will be a disadvantage to those of us who have gone with a more solid & reliable strategy otherwise
No point finishing with 5 or 6 trades left
Why would supercoach give us extra trades this year?
Last year was an anomaly due to Covid 19 and compensation due playing large block of games consecutively and the unknown viability of playing games.
Only something similar (God forbid) would warrant extra trades this year.
So, what is everyone doing with Fredericks not named and if you have Chapman?? (especially with Highmore still not getting a game)
Taking a donut? Trading in the pies rookie (Murphy) or ????
This season is turning out to be harder than last year at this rate!
Mansell with the E. Really looking forward to those 42 points
Hey macca did a bit of dpp work. Brought in May and traded out rowe for RCD
Evening Macca and Chillo.
You are right Macca, this season is shocking and I am not sure what to do this week?
I am up against GD this week so that is going to be very a bridge too far.
Every week I have my trades planned but they get trashed. I guess like most people this year.
All the best guys and GD.
@#$&* is what I’m doing at the moment Macca.
Any thoughts about Owie, although I was thinking (??) he was Dpp….from any Carltonians???
No bench cover makes downgrading to a rookie with uncertain JS very risky…
not trading this week. Already down to 18 trades remaining.
Dependent on Sunday teams ofcourse.
Trading in:
T/U Guthrie
T/D Bolton
Who kicks more goals tonight
Tom & Jerry
or
Jack & Jill
Over 13,500 have traded in Martin Frederick this week.
Lol
stewart has gone missing??
Playing lockdown on Dusty a fair bit of the time
Simpson subbed with a hamstring and Dalhaus struggling with a back.
Cats are worse for wear
Mansell two dropped intercepts in a row ffs.
Terrific, misses crucial SC points and will be straight out for Grimes next week.
costing the tigers, 3 dropped marks in their backlines cost them three goals.
Yep, Tigers fumbled their way to a loss here.
G’day GD.
All the best with our match up. I think that you have me covered easily.
Evening, CT.
Nah, Duncan’s got you off to a good start.
Short’s solid, but Mansell and Martin look like they’ll do me in. Also looping RCD with Berry, watch him score something awkward.
Good luck.
Not watching the game is Dustin being shutdown by tagger i thought Hardwick said we are going to see the best side of him
Hope Duncan scores stays up and not drop like his last game.
Jeremy Cameron having a night 5 goals. Geelong suits him well
You watch AFL Israel aren’t you in NZ watching your anime.
“He thought they were the goals but they were the points” wow BT thanks for that insightful statement into the obvious !!
Lol, BT perceptive as ever.
AFL god give Martin a good score!
Is Joel selwood the recipient of most free kicks in afl history.
Anyway , from this tiger supporter , Geelong way to good tonight.
Duncan is just all class isn’t he? Was looking at him for after the byes … but he may get too expensive unless he drops a bad game …
Stewart robbed.

Time to bring Cameron into my team
Watch him win the Coleman from here
Nice mark from Bolton
Dusty not so useful when he has an opponent… duh.
Finally a coach has realised that if you let a player play as an ‘extra’ at stoppages he will get easy uncontested possessions often. Tommy Stewart kicked his butt at stoppages after Q1 and exposed Dusty’s total lack of defensive skills allowing Cats to attack from defence with impunity.
It was a very obvious coaches move to not let him run around unopposed and I’m pretty sure other coaches wont allow him to play without an opponent either. His era as a serviceable SC player may end as abruptly as it started.
