Game Chat – SF1 – Geelong v GWS

Written by Motts on September 3 2021

Where and when: Perth Stadium at 7:50pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 21, 2021: Geelong 8.17 (65) DEF BY GWS 13.6 (84) at Kardinia Park.

The Cats came hard in the last quarter, kicking 3.7 (25) from 22 inside 50s but inaccuracy cost them as the Giants ran out winners by 19 points for a rare win at The Cattery. Taylor for the Giants was the highest ranked player on the field, Greene for the victors had a match-high four goals.

Last five: Geelong 2-3, GWS 4-1

Match Preview: If you thought the GWS win in the last meeting between these two teams was an aberration, think again. GWS have been the victors the last three times the Giants and Cats have matched up. The thing is though, either Toby Greene or Jeremy Cameron or both were prominent in all 3 of those matches. And with Cameron now playing up front for the opposition, that’s makes Greene’s brain snap last week all the more inexcusable.

The way The Cats are hobbling to the line at the moment, if Greene played I would’ve tipped GWS. Without him though, as irresistibly as they’re playing right now, I think they’re vulnerable.

Mottsy Watch:

I’d love Hawkins and Cameron to grab a hold this game by the scruff of the neck and kick 12 between them. Other than that, I’ll be looking for Chris Scott’s greasy slicked back ‘do to make an appearance like he’s just walked out of the shower.
Mottsy’s Tip: Geelong by 15 (tipping record 45.5/66).

      1. Thanks, Motts.
Could be, but you never know? Somebody may drop by?

        Looking forward to this game.

I am going for the Giants, just because many friends support Geelong.

        1. Evening, fellas.

Tipped the Cats, but loving the Giants ball movement early. Biting off the corridor kick, moving quick.

          We’ll see.

  2. I might just focus on the umpiring, too many possible break downs from both sides.
Might be a “most men still standing will win” game tonight.

  3. Here’s my clean joke of the day:
A kid who’s a shelf stacker at an IGA in Adelaide is looking to move up the corporate ladder and is invited to meet with the owner who’s looking to fill an assistant store manager role.
Kid: “I’m super keen, sir, and I feel like after 2 years on the floor I know the ropes”
Owner: “I think you do too. The only issue is, the job is in my supermarket In Darwin.”
Kid: “Darwin? The only thing to come out of Darwin is hookers and AFL players.”
Owner: “My wife is from Darwin.”
Kid: (without missing a beat) “Oh really, what position did she play?”
