Game Chat – St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs

Written by Thommo on October 3 2020

Where and When: GABBA, Saturday 3rd October at 4:40pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 2, 2020: St Kilda 14.4 (88) def Western Bulldogs 7.7 (49) at Marvel Stadium.

Form: St Kilda: LLWLW

Western Bulldogs: WLWWW

Match Preview: It doesn’t take a genius to work out what Bevo’s pre-game message to the Bulldogs’ players will be: “It doesn’t matter where you finish on the ladder, we proved in 2016 that we can win the premiership from anywhere.” After finishing 7th with a good streak of form to end the season, there certainly is a sense of déjà vu about the Doggies’ at the moment. Conversely the Saints, after a strong start to the season, have dropped off late in the year.

Thankfully they did send a reminder to the league in Round 18 that they can play footy after smacking the Giants by 52 points. St Kilda have defeated Port in Adelaide and they smacked the Dogs in Round 2 and could be a difficult match-up if they bring their best.

Thommo Watch: My eyes will be firmly on the midfield match-up. At their best the Dogs dominate other midfields and if Jack Steele and co don’t bring their A-game it will be one-way traffic.

Thommo’s Tip: It’s hard to go past the Dogs with their current form. Dogs by 12 points.
