  1. Is Isaac Heeney the only player that could go 50 or 150 and you wouldn’t be surprised either way?

Just Stewart & McCartin in this one for me. Also hoping Bud hits the 1k!

      1. Hi GD,
Same for me, just McCartin but Dylan Stephens on bench without e.

        Good kicking for Buddy too.

        Have an enjoyable weekend everyone.

  2. Went a bit left of centre and put the VC on Heeney. Reckon at home he could be in middle for hopefully 3 quarters but who knows! Go Swans!

  3. Gulden’s looking like a premium fwd. Will be interesting to see how he goes across the full season

    1. Both Gulden and Warner look very good. I did say that I could see Warner as a breakout but can’t honestly back him and say it WILL happen.

2 rounds in and there’s no guarantees but the young cygnets are looking great .

    1. WCE decimated … and they just said on Fox Footy that the AFL have already said even if more players drop out over the course of the weekend, they will still be forced to play … farcical now …

      1. Much as I want him I chose McDonald on price to performance and now cannot see how I fit him in, unless Berry and Ridley both absolutely spud it up and there is a viable midprice or rookie defender.

Sometimes you just have to accept you will pay $200k more for a player down the track, and enjoy the $350k more you’ll make on a couple of cheaper ones rather than destroy your team structure.

  5. If Heeney keeps going I then need Ned Long to not play for Hawks so I can use the loop. Means I can get Stephens on field too which seems a good choice so far!

  6. Reminder to self for season 2023 – have about $100k in the bank prior to round 1 so you can trade in a player who is undervalued that has started the season on fire (thinking Cripps, Hewitt, Heeney). With no cash in the bank, it’s pretty much impossible to find a way to trade them in prior to R3 price rise.

    1. Usually you get an injury or similar eg Dusty.

Maybe the solution is to actually choose players based on price, form and scoring and not preconceived notions that anyone between $499,999 and $210,000 is obviously a spud?

    1. I’m with you Thommo – was just about to post something similar … in this day and age, society has changed … and anything could happen.

Outside of that, how many players test positive with COVID and out next week??

Buddy is a legend though … not sure how they are going to get this game going again …

Amazing scenes when the ground was stormed and props to Buddy, he kept his cool and gave the crowd love.

    MAGNIFICENT! BUDDY!

    1. Good luck stopping that many people! You need a lot of security or it’s safer to stand back and watch.

  9. There should have been a plan in place! Warn them corral and fine them all! Could have made huge $$$$$ and showed a duty of care ! AFL DISMAL FAIL!

    1. Huge dollars???? The AFL will make vastly more dollars on the footage than they would’ve off fining fans for celebrating.

  10. You know what the afl should’ve done they would’ve knew that Buddy is going to reach that milestone could’ve hired more security block them from entering.

    1. Those clips of the moment will be played for years and years. Australian sporting history.

Spectacles are a rare thing. And in this day and age, they are needed. I for one, LOVED IT!!

      Go Buddy, Go the AFL!!!!

      1. Yes it was awesome, and it is a valued tradition, but they can’t ever let that happen again. Considering some of the crowd crush carnage from soccer and concerts in the past, the AFL would have been shitting themselves watching what transpired.

Outside of that, I wonder how the swans are feeling about their COVID exposure now?

You got your feel good story of the decade Gill, but I bet deep down you’re feeling lucky a child wasn’t killed, and you’re nervous about the COVID consequences. Then again, he’s a lawyer, so he might have thought the footage was more valuable to the AFL than the potential risk…and is smug that he got through the gauntlet.

    2. Unfeasible really. The amount of security they would have had to have to stop that (last week and this week) would have been enough to bankrupt a small nation.

The game on the site shows we as final?

      2. Sydney were happily talking up Stephens in the preseason. He underwhelmed in round 1 but it could well have been stage fright.

At rookie pricing it was a pretty good move even if an expensive bench rookie.

  14. Call me crazy but if Steele doesn’t score well this week & has an outrageous BE.
Should I bite the bullet & go Steele & Brodie > Cripps & Heeney. I’m almost willing to burn 2 trades later in the year to get Steele back

    TU – Crazy talk
TD – Not as stupid as it sounded a week ago. Do it

    1. Steele to Cripps, Hollands to Heeney and Milera to cash def

      TU – you’re stupid
      TD – I’m stupid

      1. His 87 last week was lower than anything he did last year – it’s going to be pissing down in WA and there’s covid everywhere (even in the rain) – I’m worried about the Man of Steele

  15. I would prioritise Cripps and Hewitt over heeney. Henney can be first fwd upgrade as we have a number of 200k players that might only take $150k to upgrade

  16. Holy. What an experience it was to be at that game live and to run on the ground and celebrate. Never experienced anything remotely like it. Looks like that could be the last time anyone ever kicks 1000, if not for a long time.

    1. And for anyone saying it was irresponsible and people could have got hurt and fallen over or something along those lines, one of my mates tripped and fell, and within fifteen seconds or so 3 -5 people including Sam wicks were pushing people out of the way and helping them up. This happened with other people throughout it. Can’t blame the AFL even if something did happen. It’s not even remotely feasible to hire enough security to stop everyone, or to fine everyone who went on. Everyone who went on did so of their own choice, and would have known the risks. It’s a great tradition and I hope it continues on
