Game Chat – WBD v Adelaide

Written by Motts on July 31 2021

Where and when: Ballarat at 12:20pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 12, 2020: WBD 16.15 (111) DEF Adelaide 8.6 (54) at Carrara.

Last five: WBD 4-1, Adelaide 1-4

Match Preview: The Crows wound back the clock last week to snaffle a win against Hawthorn but they’ll need to bring that form and a whole lot more to Ballarat to get the choccies in their match against the white-hot dogs (as opposed to the white hot-dogs which is something else entirely). Bullies in a canter here.

Mottsy Watch:

WBD
Bont (2/1 in the Brownlow – give it to him now?), Macrae, English
Adelaide

Tex, Sloane, Laird

Mottsy’s Tip: Doggies by 60 (tipping record 38/54).

  1. “So, no community sport, no professional sport, nothing for the next three days. Starting as of 4:00pm today.”

    – Dr Jeanette Young (Queensland CHO)

Melbourne vs Gold Coast is on at 3:10pm at Metricon, Essendon vs Sydney is scheduled to start at 7:40pm tonight at the Gabba & GWS vs Port are playing tomorrow at Metricon.

This is going to be chaos for SuperCoach finals.

  2. All Queensland games postponed according to Tom Browne. So no Melbourne, Gold Coast, GWS, Port Adelaide, Sydney or Essendon playing this weekend.

    1. So do we reckon SC will still let this round stand. Cos if this is the case should I be playing someone like Reeves (Hawthorn) over Gawn because he’s not playing?

  3. AFL 360 co-host Gerard Whateley reported on SEN this morning that the league has opted to scrap the pre-finals bye and instead schedule byes for teams over the coming weeks leading into finals.

  4. Are we thinking that SC will go with averages or best 18? Or should we start fielding our shitty bench players

    1. I don’t know how they go ahead with this round. They will probably be forced to go with best 18 just because there’s no other option other than cancelling the round but then that puts finals in the $hitter. At this point I don’t see a way for SC finals to be run which isn’t in some way heavily compromised.

      1. With best 18, I’ll be scraping together 15 players that include 3 bench players. Surely they just go averages this week

      2. The SC show will go on. History suggests it will be Top 18. The question is whether extra trades will be allocated or not.

  5. 3 trades left
Martin-sidebottom And Taranto – Guthrie as Taranto has been crap and spending less time on the ball.
    Good Trades
    Or
    Bad trades
    Cheers

  6. Melbourne about to take off from Brisbane for Perth having never got off the plane after flight up from Melbourne. Essendon trying to get a plane down to Melbourne and out of Qld before the 4pm lockdown.

  7. They have to make this round Best 18.

There is a heap of highly owned players missing.

    Gawn..60%
    Oliver ..38%
    Lloyd…39%
    Ridley..34%
    Mills ..21% .. AGAIN!
    Heeney ..15%

Some others less owned ( < 10% ) are Parish, Miller, and Langford.

This is the definition of carnage.

In a week where there's a heap of folks playing knock out finals.. ( some in cash leagues ) I really feel for those holding a heap of those players above.

If there's teams missing next week they will either.. Play best 18 again or they may give more trades.

  8. Ryan Daniels reports :

Appears Sydney v Essendon, Gold Coast v Melbourne will potentially be played in Melbourne tomorrow.

GWS v PA seems headed for Geelong.

Some chance one of these games is played Monday night.

    1. Should I be playing my bench players over Gawn, Satan etc & anticipating a best 18. Or field my best side still anticipating postponed games and that I get a full rpound in scoring this week

  11. Watching AFL fixture movements – KFC #SuperCoach rules won’t change unless a game is called off. Lockout for today’s affected games (eg Melb v GC) will be moved forward to midnight Monday until game times are locked in. Good luck everyone!
