Where and When: MCG, Saturday 24th July at 7:25 pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 11, 2021: Melbourne 13.9 (87) def West Bulldogs 8.11 (59) at Marvel

Last 5 H2H: Melbourne 3 – Bulldogs 2

Thommo Watch:

Melbourne: I think we can all agree that Max is not the ruckman he once was when working in tandem with Jackson but let’s all hope he can pump out a healthy score against the improved English. Oliver, May and Petracca are all popular in the top-ranked SC teams.

Western Bulldogs: Macrae loves playing the Dees while Bontempelli remains in the Brownlow hunt. A few of us are stuck with the inconsistent Caleb Daniel.

Match Preview: The Demons are enjoying a successful but weird season. They have defeated every team in the top 8 but lost or drawn with many teams outside the top 8. The inconsistency of his team will be frustrating Simon Goodwin but at least the trend bodes well for the finals!

The Bulldogs have been almost as impressive but they have wilted under the pressure of high-pressure sides such as Sydney two weeks ago and Melbourne in Round 11. They have enough talent to cover the loss of Treloar and Dunkley but they need to improve significantly to withstand a fired-up Melbourne outfit. If the Bulldogs can’t withstand the Dees today, expect many to jump off the bandwagon.

Thommo’s Tip:  Melbourne by 20 points. (Tipping record: 29.5/52)
