Roller coaster this round. Trades to be made. Loving crowds back at footy

Real happy with this week getting a win in every league. Started of the week slowly with players like Whitfield, Butters and Gresham scoring poorly and then some low rookie scores. Captain choice in Neale wasn’t strong either but still acceptable.

Was really happy with how rucks went as well as my POD in Mills and his massive double tonne. Also managed to avoid fielding Hayes.

Looks like a lot of rookies are making way as they get close to failing a breakeven. So a 3 trade week looking likely

    1. Nice work, Nato.

Hats off. Happy to cop an L to you in Macca’s league on the back of Mills’ double ton.

Phenomenal player and did it off 74% TOG!

      1. Thanks GD!
He chose the perfect week to do it! So I finally get a win on the board for that league

What a rollercoaster of a weekend.

-3s for rachele dow and Hayes all starting on the field and all scoring under 35, butters and rosas a late out.

+3s looping Gibcus with odriscoll was huge for me, Steele, Grundy, Oliver and preuss at r3.

Big week of trades will be season defining this week.

  4. 2297/Neale/ was 2300

Did not start the weekend well with Hayes, NOD, JHF and Butters all on field.

Thankfully rescued by some massive end of round scores from Witts, Clarry and Grundy following up the good start from the Man of Steele and Dunks.

Managed 7/8 league wins so not too much to complain about. Onward and upward, hopefully.

Hayes, JHF, NOD and Mcartin all on field. Gibcus and Martin on the bench with 100 and 95. Steele was my vice captain but thought Macrae might go higher. Doh!!

Disaster with Hayes being on field.
I know Easter was last week but my score was resurrected by my new recruit Mills.

Thought my season was over after captaining Crippa for his 30-odd a couple of weeks ago, but have moved up over 12,000 spots in the ranks since. This week’s trades were pretty much a waste of time and money! Hopefully they will pay off in the long run.

Lack of downgrade targets is a concern, and the only move I’m considering this week is JHayes to Rosas (if named).

  8. 2193/Neale/32,880 (up a few thousand)

Brayshaw and Miller under par and then Rachele, Butters, McCartin and Baldwin combining for 160 painful. Another 80 from Ridley frustrating – jinxed by Tom lol.

Midfield set to be stacked, so hopefully my shitty start will be behind me!

      2/10 League wins.

Another poor week for me. 7 score 71 or under. Only silver lining was having Oliver almost make his BE.

Things have to turn around at some stage. Maybe I should have taken my own advice on Mills who I talked up in the last Rare Gems post.

Congrats to Nato and all the others with great scores this week.

      Time to trade…

Genuinely can’t think of a week I was happier with my team. Felt good about the captain call, sideswapped Ridley (83) to Witherden (152). Upgraded Rowell (103) to Mills (214). Brought in Perez instead of Rosas late. Surprised to crack 2400 with Hayes on field but I’m somewhat ecstatic with this one.

    1. Holy f*ck, Johnno!

A series of masterstrokes! Your two traded in premos literally 366 between them, aha!

      Congrats. Amazing score.

Expect you’ll feature in tomorrow’s SCT Coaches and Leagues Update – shameless site plug, I know!

    2. Thanks everyone. Round rank of 260, moved up 11,007 spots to 3,173 for the season.

Sticking with Witts and Grundy and passing on Preuss worked for the week but definitely could hurt long term. We’ll see how that works out later though. Gibcus on the bench rather than NOD still hurt a little and then JHF and Xerri weren’t quite what I wanted either.

Second trade boost going to be used this week. Rachele, JHF and J Hayes to Clarry, Rosas and S Hayes.

Super happy with the weekend, managed to keep Hayes, Rachelle and Poor Paddy off field and loop in the Gibcus surprise ton. Also manage to win 6/6 league games with a great effort from Grundy today.

Well that was a ride. Was looking like 2100 was a good result on Saturday night.

Was otherwise engaged for most of the weekend, so unable to spend much time with loopholes and the like. I also swore I had the VC on Dunkley other than Macrae and Oliver other than Neale, which caused me to miss out on some points.

Actiavting my first trade boost was a mixed bag: English, Hough and Rowell (who looked alright) for Mills, Lipinski and Rosas. Mills was astonishing and really saved me, Lipinski disappointing but should bounce back and Rosas will hopefully be back in the Suns side this week.

After umming and ahhing all week, glad that I held Bowey and Brodie. After holding Maginness when probably others ditched him, a 62 was a nice surprise and he should hopefully hold his place for another week. He’s been a nice loopholes with the Hawks having had a bunch of late games. A bit of cash would be a nice plus.

Probably a couple more trades this week, with a few cows or CLO’s starting to peak (J.Hayes, Rachele, Durdin, maybe McCartin)

Finally a week I can be happy with my team! Got the rookie roulette (mostly) right for a change, NOD being the only really poor score, but was always gonna back him over SDK.
Glad I got a decent VC score for a change from ROB, as I probably would’ve gone Neale as C otherwise.
Hopefully will start to salvage some respectability in the rankings after my worst ever start to a season.

Overall pretty happy with the round
Hayes on the field hurt but as McGovern was still out with H & S I had to put Gibcus on the field which was a nice surprise

Looking at trading out Hayes – JHF & maybe Mccartin to upgrade to a couple of premos

Big score considering that Butters, NOD, Jackson, Xerri and JHayes averaged about 50 pts.
Trading in Preuss = big tick
Reversing trade from Rosas to Rowell = tick
Swapping C from Oliver to Neale = fail
Top 10k now and moving up…here come the Soldiers!!

Good round overall saving a super trade boost by just going with 2 trades
and keeping Bowey , Rowell , Berry and just trading out Hinge and English ( which hurt a bit ) to S Hayes and B Smith ( Wish l went with Steele instead as C and would have netted additional 100 points ) and keeping 200k in bank and not going with Heeney in the end .

    Oliver VC awesome + Witts,
Butters, Whit, NOD, Xerri, Lipinski not awesome but they’re all staying – Whit to do a Rowell this week and bounce back big (I hope….)

Got Rosas this week so will just trade Hayes to Hayes and do something with Rachelle

  17. 2251 / Neale / 6100’s.

Not bad, not great. Biggest missed opportunities were captain (Oliver would have added 60 points) and Rosas’ late out, which meant I had 16 from Hayes on-field.

Will probably just do a straight upgrade this week if the numbers work, and wait for some more cash to roll in from the rookies.

  18. 2306 / Neale / 3200

Welcomed Sicily and Preuss (R3) and kept the faith in Bowey, Rowell and Grundy.

Very pleased with the score given I still only have 4 uber premo MIDs. It’ll become 5 this week when I trade in Cripps.

Tempting to trade Grundy to Hayes to utilise point maximisation but we’ll see how we go.

Don’t want to double downgrade so going to have to choose out of Rosas/Hayes.

  19. 2108/Neale/30k now

Just a real if it could go wrong it did.

Decided to hold English so had no forward cover when Rosas was a late out. Hayes on field Didn’t hold Cripps and he went big. Traded Bowey + Rowell (both tonned up) for Pruess (good) and Macrae who had a down game.

So did 3 trades and now my teams a bigger mess then when I started.
