ADELAIDE

Sam Berry (foot) and Brodie Smith (back) are both expected to be available for selection for Thursday night’s Showdown after recovering from minor injuries.

Jordon Butts and Lachlan Murphy both returned from injury via the SANFL on the weekend and Harry Schoenberg played his second game back from Achilles surgery.

Rory Sloane Retired due eye injury

Luke Pedlar (shoulder) TBC. Luke Pedlar is seeing a specialist for his shoulder injury. “It’s a bit sore but the initial scans were a bit mixed so we’ll see what the surgeon says and be guided by that.”

BRISBANE

Oscar McInerney is expected to line up on Sunday night with the Club confirming he is available for selection.

Callum Ah Chee Scans revealed a slight hamstring strain which should only see him miss one match.

James Madden faces a fitness test this week after experience hamstring tightness during Saturday’s VFL win over Southport, though the Club is optimistic he will play.

Zane Zakostelsky is also available for selection and is set to make his Club debut in the VFL on Sunday against the SUNS.

COLLINGWOOD

Jordan De Goey will be assessed before Friday night’s clash, after pulling up from sore from the Magpies’ ANZAC Day draw. The 28-year-old has experienced groin pain, which saw him miss training on Monday afternoon. De Goey will be given every opportunity across the week to recover and will hopefully complete training in the coming days before being assessed ahead of Friday night.

Tom Mitchell an on-going foot issue will also be assessed ahead of Friday night’s clash. The ongoing plantar fasciitis issue has been managed well across the past nine to 10 weeks, but due to the short turnaround before Thursday’s draw, the midfielder has pulled up sorer than anticipated. The 30-year-old also missed training today, with a further assessment to be made in coming days.

Nathan Kreuger will play his first game of the season on Saturday in the VFL, after overcoming a hamstring and then calf injury. The tall will line up against Southport at Fankhauser Reserve in Queensland when the Pies take on the standalone side at 12:05pm on Saturday.

Josh Eyre remains in a holding pattern as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered during pre-season. The 21-year-old is running at 85 to 95 percent speed and will have another week of training at that level. The defender is still at least two weeks away from full team training but is completing non-contact drills.

Oscar Steene has undergone successful surgery on his toe tendon injury, and will spend at least four weeks in a moonboot, before resuming his rehabilitation.

Dan McStay – After experiencing a down-load over the past 10 days, while still maintaining lighter running duties, Dan McStay will progress into the next stage of rehabilitation from his ACL injury. The key forward is doing high level functional work including spinning and jumping, while maintaining non-contact football training. Currently at the five-month post-injury mark, contact training will be introduced to his training plan once he reaches the six-month mark.

ESSENDON

Archie Perkins Recovering well from a hamstring strain sustained during Gather Round, the 22-year-old will be a test for Saturday night’s clash with West Coast pending how he gets through this week’s block of training.

Matt Guelfi will be another Bomber in the mix for a senior recall after impressing in last Saturday’s VFL win over Collingwood, picking up 16 touches and booting the match-winning goal in his first game back from a calf injury.

Harry Jones is also available for selection this week, cleared of any structural damage after being substituted out of the Anzac Day clash from a knock to the face.

Will Setterfield continues to progress in his recovery from a knee injury, eyeing off a potential return to action in the next week or two.

Bailey Humphrey was assessed in the final quarter after a head knock but has also been cleared to play this weekend.

Connor Budarick will make his return after a hamstring injury and is available for AFL selection.

Lachie Weller continues to make strides in his recovery from an ACL injury and is expected to return to training with the main group in the coming weeks.

Weller is projected to return late in the season.

NORTH MELBOURNE

Jy Simpkin will need to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday’s game with the Saints, having pulled up sore from Round 7 with quad tightness.

The midfielder spent most of Tuesday’s training session in the rehab group.

“Scans show a minor strain on one of the smaller muscles for Jy,” North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White told NMFC Media.

“He will look to clear our soft tissue protocols at the end of the week to play.”

Brayden George sustained a dislocated shoulder in the third quarter of the VFL side’s clash with Greater Western Sydney in Blacktown. “Follow-up reviews with our club doctor and specialist this week will determine our rehab approach moving forward, and we’ll provide an update next week once that information has been gathered,” White said.

Hamish Free was another casualty from the VFL match-up, going down early with a head knock.

“Hamish will now fall into AFL management protocols but given it’s his second concussion this year, it may lead to a more prolonged return to play,” White said.

Cooper Harvey is expected to make his return to the field this weekend. VFL

Corey sustained an ankle sprain in the VFL last weekend and is expected to miss three weeks of football.

Indhi Kirk

Indhi suffered a concussion in the VFL match last weekend. As a result he will not play this weekend in line with the AFL’s concussion protocols.

Callum Mills

Callum suffered a low-grade calf strain while running last weekend. Subsequently, his return to play date from his shoulder injury is likely to be pushed back a few weeks.

Harry Arnold

Harry is progressing through his running well but is still expected to return in the second half of the season.

WEST COAST

Noah Long “Longy’s hip is good. He missed last week just with a hip pointer, so if he gets through training this week he’ll be playing,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness

Zane Trew will miss Sunday’s clash with East Perth due to a head knock.

“Unfortunately for ‘Trewy’ in our WAFL training session over the weekend he had a head knock and he’s in the concussion protocol now,” Inness said.

“Scans yesterday have confirmed some structural ligament damage to the elbow that we need surgically repaired to make sure that Cody isn’t compromised by ongoing issues.

“We will confirm Cody’s rehab timeline following the surgery but expect him to miss the next 8-10 weeks.”
