Injuries – Week 4

Xavier Lindsay

GM of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson said: “In positive news, Xavier has been cleared of any major damage to his left knee, with scans instead showing a sprain of his medial ligament.

“While Xavier is unlikely to be available for our next match against Geelong, he will be assessed during the week to guide his likely return date.”

Josh Rachele is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after suffering three fractured ribs.

“He underwent scans in hospital on Sunday night and had further scans on Monday morning which confirmed the rib fracture and cleared him of any other internal injuries.”

Xavier Lindsay was subbed off due to a knee concern but was cleared of any significant damage following scans.

“Imaging cleared him of any severe damage to the knee, which was great, but he still has a low-grade injury to his medial ligament,” Griffith said.

“This week is more around progression from that, he’s still quite sore and stiff following that incident.

Judson Clarke ACL, 3-6 weeks

“Judson Clarke will get through his first full week of training this week, with no yellow hat on (no contact). He’ll be full contact training.

Jeremy McGovern received good news from his scan.
“Gov’ suffered an adductor strain in the third quarter on Sunday,” High Performance Manager Mat Innesss said.

“It’s on the lower end of severity, however he will still miss between two-to-four weeks, depending on how he progresses in the next week.”

Jack Hutchinson is progressing well after suffering a hamstring strain in round one.
“We are looking to see him back playing in the next week or two.”

Elliot Yeo continues on his road to recovery after injuring the medial ligament in his right knee and requiring syndesmosis surgery on his right ankle in January.

“We expect him to progress into some higher intensity drills in the coming week, however he is still around four-to-five weeks away from a return to play.”

Campbell Chesser (ankle surgery in February) “Campbell is tracking well in his strengthening phase from his ankle surgery, and we are expecting him to be back running next week,” Inness said.

“All going well, he will be returning to play in six-to-eight weeks.”
