The joys of the most volatile start to a season since concussion protocols emerged as a thing.
Apologies, but only have time for a summary article today but I am hoping it will still be useful to some of the folk out there.

Tristian Xerri, pretty obvious in the short term, but also pretty painful for those of us who imported him last week. Use the money to get Max, Tim or use the flex to get a Bont or Naicos type as three weeks on the bench is too much, especially when we were hoping to utilise his early soft start.
Darcy Parish teased us during pre season and AAMi but has failed to impress at least 23k coaches since. With a BE of 70, he’s not going to make any money in a hurry and whilst wearing the sash, not likely to burn up the stats sheet. I reckon it’s time. I’m using him and X to get to Bont and Stewart inn the Tech League at this stage.
I think the Tracca trades are those left over while coaches made more necessary moves last week. If you still have him it’s probably worth hanging in there as you are going to want him back at some stage and you’ve already endured most of the pain.
I advocate for Jack Carroll staying in the team, even after his bye. Not going to make buckets of cash but with a BE of 23 will still make some. When he is not in a lock down role he looks good coming off half back, and if that role becomes more prominent, I think he scores better. One reason I’m holding is to get the defensive DPP after next week as I don’t have anyone but Grlj and the potential to switch may be important.
Steven Coniglio Isn’t a must trade right now unless he’s your only move to a Bont/Naicos type. I know he had a shocker last week, but has two tons in four games, and because of the bye this week, I do understand coach’s logic, despite a come back game against the Tigers next week.
Blakiston‘s time has come I believe. Nic Bryan is not far away and Blakiston has a BE that is only 10 points below his average of 63 and this is not enough for a mid price stepping stone.
If you have held Hayden Young this long then you should probably stick fat. With best 18 this week and the midfield where you are most likely strongest, it’s not going to affect your overall score.
Caleb Windsor is my second most failed Midpricer and I cannot justify holding any more (unless selection throws up some really bad permutations). Using him and X to Bont and Stewart.
No need to sell Lombard if named.

The Bont tops the list. Why not get the SC star if you can. With the dollars available from the X man this might be your best chance.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t jump on the Oscar Steene bandwagon early because he’s not on the bubble. 16k coaches are defying the rookies laws and I hope it works for them, but ask yourselves, do I actually have to buy until next week?
Jack Lukosius has never been a SC scorer, and people should know that. I see it as a desperate move to fill a hole vacated by the missing forwards with coaches using the huge cash boost on offer as justification if it falls over. There is talk of him moving back for a while to cover Port’s weakish backline, and if that’s the case, there is a little bit of potentil through intercept mark and general intercepts. Anyhow, don’t see it as sound move.
Max, Naicos, Holmes and English are all good moves and whichever fits your team best, jump on freely, but see my comments last week on Shai Bolton, as I stand by them. His highest SC score ever against the Crows is 102 and a career ave of 77 sounds some warning signals. If Hayden Young is actually back in one to two as suggested, will Shai spend more time forward again?
Again, sorry for the brevity, but thanks for reading and as usual, make some good comments below for our interaction
Thanks for the report. Some good advice
Xerri replacement
TU – Gawn
TD – Jackson plus $70k
Jackson should be a top 8 mid this year if he gets DPP. I have both but that’s where he’s going for me
Thanks Jimmy seems more carnage to premium players at the start 2026 than other years .trades are being burnt correcting that will be needed towards finals. it’s. a catch 22 situation if we don’t make enough wins we miss the big dance
Good write up! I held off on Steene and I am glad I did. He rewarded coaches who traded him in with 41SC last night. Am I going to grab Steene next week? Nahhhh pass. It is so worth having two looks before making those rookie trades. Next week better rookie options will appear to jump on.
