  1. I genuinely cannot believe that Lynch got off. That cheap punch on Collins won them the game last night. I feel bad for the GC lads but especially Collins. Really thought justice would be served.

    1. I agree LGCS.

I will never understand why a punch which is always deliberate and often away from the play receives a lighter penalty than a “dangerous” tackle which occurs during play.

They don’t suspend for a cheap shot yet suspend for poor execution of an otherwise legal part of the game in tackling

    2. Have you watched the vision? It was after the Aarts hit that Collins went down. However as per usual, the trial by media gives Lynch a fine.

Collins was also into Lynch all night and also landed a gut punch on Lynch during the 3rd quarter – it’s on camera, yet we’ve heard nothing about that.

For anyone saying it deserved a week, you clearly have NFI. Check the suspension guidelines and it’s a fine. Seriously the average footy watcher is a complete nuff when it comes to these sort of things.

      1. So the footy world is full of nuffs and you are the only one right….. I think you need to pay some respect to the world of public opinion when it comes to a repeat soft cock sniper like lynch. His time will come…..it always does.

        1. Lmao of course I’m not the only one is right. It’s just the general footy fan doesn’t understand the MRO rules. Looking at all the other comments posted here confirms that. Based on the rules, Lynch gets a fine, not a suspension, which is exactly what he got. It’s baffling how people can’t understand that.

And calling him a sniper? 1 – think he may have been suspended for 1 match once in his 10 yr career. 2- this year he has given a player a little clip over the ear and another one a whack in the guts (after having received one from said player earlier in the game). The way you’re carrying on you’d think Lynch would go round belting blokes every game and has been suspended consistently. The vitriol towards him is completely ridiculous.

          1. Shiel gets two weeks for head high even tho the kangaroo player didn’t get concused and played the game “because he may have caused significant injury with the action”

Fair enough, we’re dealing with the action and not the consequences.

Merret gets a week just because Silvagni gets injured even though he has a perfect record, never got suspended.

But they don’t use the same line against Lynch when he smacked the guy in the stomach behind play because the player eventually got up and played out the last qtr even though Lynch is a hothead and done it 3 times already in 2 games.

What’s the difference between Lynch and Merrets action?

I thought we were dealing with the act of striking and not the impact?

  2. So…the standard has been set. When there is an outbreak of stomach punches from hereon, we know who to blame.
That punch took Collins out of the play…obviously the MRO has never had a punch to the guts that takes your breath away….I have and you are immobilised for quite some time.

    1. And Lynch has form when it comes to cheap shots. His little shove on Witherdon (I think) when he was on the ground was weak.

  3. They just should dock players more money. Simple.

A grand for a dirty punch on Collins like that is nothing to Lynch, and suspension fines are usually covered by the club as a term of big contracts like the one his on anyway.

Ten grand for pulling sh*t like that would with stamp it out of the game GUARANTEED.

    1. I would prefer a % of contract GD….this same fine crap for everyone is just that….crap. Minor offence to a rookie means he can’t eat…to Fyfe or similar ??? Only half as much caviar on the toast.

  4. Makes you wonder that if there was no-one at the ground ,cameras , etc, if he would be playing the weak poonce that he is, i would back collins to beat the shit out of him and i think he is filthy that the big weak poonce thinks he has a chance with the safety of the surroundings.
    He has lost my respect.

    1. Collins should have invited him to the car park to sort it out. Without umpires protection, he is a mouse.

      1. It’s all for show with Lynch. You can tell he is a gutless scared dweeb.
Wighty the problem is your bombers have nobody with any mongrel in them. Best case scenario is that Shiel flicks his scrunchy at him and gets him in the eye.

        1. DS you are right sadly. The only one in recent years was Melksham. Its one of the reasons we are where we are. Its all about beep tests and vertical leaps these days.

          1. @Wighty If our boys touch Lynch it will be weeks mate.
Merret gets a week just because Silvagni gets injured even though he has a perfect record, never got suspended or fined.

I thought we were dealing with the act of striking and not the impact?

            Another case;
Shiel gets two weeks for head high even tho the kangaroo player didn’t get concused and played the game “because he may have caused significant injury with the action”

But they don’t use the same line against Lynch when he smacked the guy in the ribs behind play because the player eventually got up and played out the last qtr even though Lynch is a hothead and done it 3 times already in 2 games. What’s the difference between Lynch and Merrets action?

And surprise surprise guess who tigers play this week, Essendon. He should not be playing. As usually tho one rule for one team, another rule for us.

            Protected species the tigers.

            1. I hear ya.

Due to all the new information regarding concussions,I believe the AFL are cracking down on hits to the “Head”. Regardless of the outcome.

Also a few years ago Players were getting suspended over some pretty trivial acts. I remember Robbo going off about someone missing weeks for something minor.
Looks like the AFL have gone too far the other way.

Why cant we use the Video Ref to check these calls as they happen.

Player goes down. Ref stops play. Checks footage.

Reports player. Free kick and 50 meter penalty to the oppo.

If players new the Ref had this power. It would stamp out all this “off the ball “nonsense for good.
