Does anyone really like the byes? I’m going to put that question in a poll, as well as some data related questions to see how we are situated for the remaining four rounds plus SC finals.
Like never before, I feel, forced trades have impacted our team growth dramatically. This week I will be trading Jack Sinclair to someone who can play footy, thus making him my twelfth (12th) forced trade in seventeen rounds. That’s a pretty horrendous rate to lose your preferred players, is it not? The obvious follow on is that you are potentially twelve players further off filling your team, and even if they all were not going to eventually stay, it still puts you behind the eight ball when it comes to completing your team.
My team is less than flash this year, and a quick dive into my history confirms that in spades. Since I joined in 2014 I am officially 13k positions worse than my previous low at any round 16, so I thank everyone for continuing to support despite the glitch. However, during the byes I have improved by 16k spots and averaged 1999 points during the period. Sounds good, but when you start at 96k it is all relative. How many positions did you improve, or if not, how many did you lose is included to let us know more about the state of the game at the end of R16.
Trades, boosts and premo numbers will be an integral proportion of the poll as well. With only four rounds to get it right, do you have the correct formula, or are you hoping value picks will do it for you? I leave R16 short two forwards, one defender and the flex with nine trades and two boosts on the table. That number will obviously delete the defender from that list once Sinclair is traded. So that will leave seven trades to fill three spots, not an easy task. What is yours looking like?
Once you answer the poll questions, please chuck in some comments to generate discussion and let us know your thoughts and strategy. Thanks for reading and participating, and I hope all all your decisions are gold from here on in.
I don’t mind the bye in terms of strategy and changing things up with league matchups and teams. Maybe one week I am more affected then my opponent, maybe the next week I am in a better place. I was reasonably conscious of trying not to have too many bye players each week this year, not something I really took into account my first season.
I actually won all 5 bye round matchups and currently in 1st place in my league but four players are only 1 game behind me.
I have 3 rookies to upgrade and also Sinclair who is injured. With only 6 trades to go that means really I’m not going to get “full premo”. I’m also debating on leaving one or two rookies as is for the year anyway.
I’m out of trades. Horrendous injury ridden season. 8 rounds left, 0 trades. But like others been playing WC26 with Supercoach and Fifa. The supercoach one is so boring compared to fifa. I hope next season they bring in some chips to keep the game exciting. One I like is you can change Captain as many times as you want, keeps you logging back in to check so I can see the appeal.
Snap Jimmy, 12 injury trades for me too.
Horrible season, been two steps forward one step back all year.
Actually, sometimes it’s been one step forward and more than two back.
And I did actually set my team up for the byes more than ever before but the injuries made a mockery of any preseason planning.
Ah well, next year..
I don’t mind the bye period. it does test your strategy and player management. But there is a lot of luck too, Rd 15 killed me – dropped from 8000 to 15000 because of withdrawals, injuries in games an spud performances from my premos. tried to set up well but failed that round. Hoping to get back up a I have held 7 trades – injuries have killed me in previous years and 22 promo (i I you count McDonald…) so not far off
With only a little strategy through trades, I tried to wing it through the byes this year. I relied too heavily on rookies and tried to save trades after a horrendous injury toll. Went from a ranking around 900th to 17000th. Fair to say I got lazy and paid the price. I’m one off full premo now though so hoping to regain some dignity in the back end. Still a shot at winning my league. I hate the byes!
Petracca was the only premo I had with an early bye.
After Xerri’s brain fade, the injury rot set in.
Overall the byes weren’t an issue, two rounds back underperforming premos cost me a win.
We live and learn.
