Poll – Replacing The Little Fella

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 3 2019

Caleb Daniel has been very handy for his 30k+ Coaches in 2019.  He’s been assigned as the designated kick-in at the Bulldogs and has predictably played on at every chance, bringing in an average of 102.1 pts this season.

Unfortunately he’s suffered a hamstring strain and is due to sit out for the next 3-4 weeks officially.  Who best to replace him with?  And even harder……what if you have no cash in the bank?  Who is the best value replacement for Caleb Daniel?

Who is the best FWD replacement for Caleb Daniel under $530k? (three choices)

  1. Is mundy being considered by anyone? Nets you $100k and wasn’t too long ago one of the number 1 FWD picks….

  2. I will throw in one from left field.

    WHO AM I?
This player plays for Carlton and is priced at $433,500 with a 3 Round average of 105.3 following a 111 and 113 in the last 2 weeks.
Since Teague has taken over as Coach I have been spending more time in the Midfield.

Those SCT ers that follow me on Twitter are not allowed to answer after I spoke about this player as an option for Daniel yesterday.

      1. Well Done Baps it is Sam Petrevski-Seton who is a huge POD as he is only in just over 2,800 Teams.

        1. Not sure why this is getting voted down. He’s a great pick. And it’s not like it’s just the last few weeks – he even started the year well. Like a lot of Blues, his scoring dropped off once the wheels fell off at Carlton, but it’s long since recovered.

  3. Thoughts about a dpp switch and bringing in Dylan Shiel. 100k saved and he averages just under 100 and is basically a fallen premium

  4. Another idea, hold for a week and go for Hawkins. Got a huge be this week and will drop to under 400k and will be the week that random 24 fall out of his 3rd circle. Take away that 24 and his lowest score averages 90. Could be risky but cats do have easy run home.

Alternatively J Cameron could be another cheap pick up if youre tight on cash. Has a 120be this week and could also be under 400k after this weekend and has a somewhat easy run home with 4 games at home could be sneaky.

Anyway just a couple of random thoughts interested to see what you guys think!

    1. I suppose with the key forwards you get what you pay for. They will always be up and down and can ultimately win or lose you your match. I wouldn’t go near them personally. Plus with Cats they have literally wrapped up a top two spot so late in the season it will be about preservation more than anything.

    1. Uncompetitive to have Shiel at M8, Tom. Top teams’ M8s will be guys like Sloane, Crouch and Coniglio, who are averaging 5 – 10 points more and have a much higher ceiling than Shiel. Look elsewhere.
