Round one always throws up the inevitable dilemma. First up injury that hurts us as much as the player, mid pricer bananas that turned to mush when the real stuff begins, or the rookie who smashes it, but wait, we missed him. Any which way, most of us want to correct something after one week.
Erroll, is a must trade but not necessarily this week. We can afford to have an extra look given best 18 scenario and see if those rookies keep it up or hedge our bets with a premo swap coming of the round two bye, think Holmes, Walsh types or Tanner Bruhn to grab a bargain and the cash to boot.
Some coaches are thinking of dumping Nas before he hits them with a cash drop. Is it wise dropping a premo, after all you picked him for a reason and he will sort himself out.
Failed mid pricers after two weeks of less than gratifying results are also tempting to correct in the now. Some such reprobates may be Toby Greene, Joel Freijah, Josh Weddle, Kiddy Coleman, Charlie Curnow or the Pou, to name a few who are are fairly well represented in our teams.
Then there’s the obvious correction of, mainly, the rookies you missed who are set to explode in price. Think Murdock, Jaques, Robertson types who could replace a higher priced bloke stagnating unless he has a big spike game eg Zeke Uwland, Jhye Cark.
Let us know if you have a theory on the above, or if you have actually got plans in place to make moves after one round of Supercoach.
I am getting rid of Gulden this week.
I also took a punt on Coniglio and Oliver……one mid-pricer and one I’m not sure what.
Murdock is manna from heaven for me. Yes, it’s a week early. If he gets injured, that’s just plain bad luck, but a rookie like that doesn’t come along very often just when you need it.
Coniglio to Murdock.
Gulden to Bont.
Oliver to Serong.
Decent cash left over.
I have no problem burning trades early in the season, even boosts.
Coniglio might make 20-30K this week(zero break even), but if he gets stuck in the forward line again I might only get another 60 points.
Also, if I wait to trade Murdoch next week, I may have other trades I need to do instead.
Bye coverage not an issue.
Scored 2344 last week. 100 more if I had the right rookies on field. So reasonably happy with the rest of my team.
Does that justify 3 trades? Who knows lol
The only trade I’m making this week is to get Murdock in (don’t have Gulden) because I may have to correct a number of mid-pricers and failed premos next week. I’ll have another week of data to inform my decisions on Jordan Clark, Archie Roberts, TDK and Toby Greene plus I’ll have another week to think about retaining or cutting Sam Walsh, Marshall and Philippou. I’m liking some of the players coming off the Round 2 bye (Holmes, Houston, Zorko) and would like to get one or two of them into my struggling team.
Murdock comes in for either Dovaston or Sellwood who both look like slow burns.
