  1. Started in 2010 and I’m pretty sure I’ve gone backwards.
Not the biggest but the best change I’ve seen is being able to reverse trades. Man it was hard Friday arvo trying to access the website and get your trades done.

  2. Started in 2014, back when the Suns and Giants made guns ‘n’ rookies the only game in town. It’s a bit tougher these days, and picking keepers at a good price is much more important now.
The other big change is that defenders were the poor cousins of the big scoring mids and mid-forwards when I started. Everyone left their defensive upgrades until last. I don’t know if CD tweaked the scoring for defensive plays, but there seem to be a lot more high scoring defenders to choose from now.

  3. Started in 2006. When you only had 20 trades and I’ll be out after round 10.

2007 was my best year finished in the top 20.
Came second in the weekly in the last round ironically the person who beat me by 1 point was my head to head opponent in the league Grand final.

    1. It was a much tougher games with less trades and I happen to prefer it.
With less trades it brought more strategy into the equation.

  4. The simple answer is too long.
I do however remember playing when the scores were in the Australian or Age newspaper
I cant remember which it was as it was that long ago.
The most significant change I have seen is now the amount of information in cyberspace that it is virtually impossible to draft a unique pick / smokey anymore

  5. Biggest change I’ve seen is the move from traditional guns and rookies to players at 200-300k becoming worthwhile picks. I think this is due to Carlton becoming better, Giants and GC picks drying up and Essendon of 2016 no more. Lack of defensive cows in the past two years too.

  6. Been playing for quite a few years. Biggest change has been the Supercoach site being able to handle the traffic, as in the earlier days the site would crash and changes were not able to be made. Also, today there are so many more sites and the information provided by all you talented players is most impressive, so thank you.

  7. Around 10 + years ago…..been enjoyable. Used to have to get the herald sun to check the ins’/outs – now cyberspace has it covered and this site is my go to for teams (how do you keep getting it first????)

Remember premo defenders being above 90+ in early days – now it seems its hard to do that with 6 forwards (current top 50 players has 4 fwds and Ziebell, Impey and Dale might not have been your first picks for that! with apologies to dunks and danger).

Reversing trades was a great feature, but now you cannot do it after first game (if trades already made) which is difficult given how teams are named.

Discovering this site was my real bonus – thanks to all

  8. I started the year after I discovered and started playing AFL in Ontario, Canada (2007).

The biggest change (one I have not enjoyed) has been the rolling lock-out – before, I was on roughly equal footing with Aussies as everyone would have to complete their trades, captains, and emergencies prior to the 1st game. Now, because of the time change, I’m usually in bed when games start so I’m way more limited with loopholes, VC/C choices, and late outs.

  9. Started in 2010, 3.5 years after moving from England and never knowing what AFL was. Wasn’t really into AFL when I started SC but through competing in SC every year I have learnt heaps about the game and now I f**king love it! Can’t wait for the season every year to commence and it provides me with something to get around every year when my (real) football – the EPL – has their offseason.

But, SC this year sucks. Too many unknowns and injuries and I’m having my worst season to date. But I’m not throwing in the towel just yet!

  10. Been playing long enough including EPL, NBA and TDF to know that the AFL Fantasy game is the worst designed layout that I have ever come across.

  11. Goodness – a long time ago.

It was back when Scotty West was my first “must” pick-up. 2007?
