Mid – Butters, LDU, Errol, T Green, Rozee, Touk, Mckercher, Sanders (Clark, Sharp, Hall)
    Ruck – Grundy, Xerri (Edwards)

  2. DEF – Daicos, Sinclair, Young, Curtain, Gibcus, Coffield (Hore, Pink)

MID- Petrecca, Butters, Gulden, Serong, Green, Walsh, McKercher, Sanders (Binns, Clark, Hall)

    RUCK – English, Grundy (Maley)

FWD- Flanders, Harmes, Billings, Reid, F.Macrae, Wilson (Darcy, Mannagh)

Definitely a few tweaks compared to last RMT, only 4K left in the kitty.

I had Sheezel in as D2 however became concerned regarding what his role would be this year, heard he played the match sim as Mid/Fwd which I’m not a fan of. Will wait and see in the preseason games though.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

      1. They’re still going to be doing a lot of defence. But I do expect to see significant improvement this year.

    1. Yes, Sheezel in the FWDS is a concern. Still my draft team, but if he is in the same role in offical pre-season he will need to go.

    2. Hiya Mickey, I gave you a thumbs down because you have too many R0 keepers IMO (7 incl Flanders), but more so because you’ll have 2 out for both R3 and R5.

  3. February team has changed a little bit from January team.

    Main changes are:

English has been replaced by Gawn. Going with the crowd and the value that he represents.

Stewart has replaced Rozee (4/5 premium in DEF/MID instead of 3/6). I can easy see Stewart being a top 6 defender, where Rozee is one of many who could become a top mid. I did have Green in the team ahead of Rozee, but it is those dam early byes doing my head in gives Stewart the nod.

Harmes, Jordon, Chapman, Billings are all still interchangeable at that price and my structure has two of those 4, will probably depend on where the rookies are, def or fwd.

Still no Daicos, he will be priority No 1 after his early bye, so will be watching Collingwood games from behind the couch early on.

    Defence:
Sicily, Stewart, Sinclair, Young, Williams, Hore (Reid, Coffield)

    Midfield:
Bontempelli, Dawson, Butters, Brayshaw, Steele, McKercher, Sanders, Sharp (Clark, Sinn, Hall)

    Rucks:
    Gawn, Grundy (Maley)

    Forwards:
JMacrae, Jordon, Harmes, HReid, FMacrae, Wilson (Darcy, Mannagh)

Only $3k in bank (think i’d like more)

Other than the premiums i have in defence, i like the look of Ryan (even more kick-ins without Young) and Obviously Daicos as well. But i think there is going to be a clear separation of the top 6 defenders this year and i’m hoping to start 4 of them.

In the guts i had Green first picked, with North and Eagles up first. But the early bye has me slightly off him (he might still replace Dawson). I’m staying away from Petracca because of the Oliver uncertainly. Neale and Dunkley are hard to select because of their early bye however i can see one or both being R13 upgrades. LDU i’m not a fan of and will be happy steer clear of.

English is expensive, and Grundy and Gawn offer too much value, but if there is an early opportunity to jump on i will. Not having English last year hurt.

Macrae is a lock, i’m a big fan and can see him back in the guts knocking out 105-110. Flanders is a big wait and see, we have until r4 to jump on. Daniel and Moore are the only other possible forward premiums i’m considering, the rest have too many variables

pretty happy with team, and glad it hasn’t changed much since January team, i’m sure there will be a few more changes, but i’m expecting major changes after round 0 when the rookies or lack of rookies reveal themselves.

      1. my plan would be to use two or more of my $250k players who might have had a nice prise rise. Say a Williams, Jordon or Harmes, or even one of the expensive rookies should have risen in price by round 6 to turn 2 or 3 of them into Daicos and a couple of bubble boy rookies. will need a boost to do it and maybe 3 trades.

        1

        7
        1. Or just start him and get any of those guys in instead..
Never run many cheapies over a PROVEN premium.
You always end up doing what you suggest asap anyway wasting trades.

          1. yep. i did say at the end of last year that Daicos won’t NOT be in my team for at least the next 5 years.

Its just those dam early byes doing my head in. I might be over thinking it. or at least i really only have Gawn and Grundy as early bye players, but so does everyone else, no different to Daicos.

            0

            2
          2. i’ve slotted Daicos in to the team instead of Stewart and Jordon became Billings.

I’ll leave it like that for a few days and see how i feel.

            4

            3
    1. Hey Derek, like the look of this structure.
Can you expand on the reason for fading Petracca? He’s a great scorer with Oliver, and would think that would only increase if Oliver doesn’t start Round 1. If you want to boost your bank, Bont down to Petracca looks an option that wouldn’t change your premo structure.

      6

      0
      1. I am a massive Oliver and Petracca fan. Had both in my team for past few years.

I’m staying away because of the uncertainly.

I hear what you say, Petracca scores well with and without Oliver and should be good either way. Its just the uncertainly of the Melbourne midfield in general. Until we get a week in week out, set regular melb midfield, i’m just looking elsewhere.

To be honest, Oliver is my favourite player (after Sic) and i do really want to see him back and firing and in my team, so i’m going to wait and see if he will be a better upgrade than Petracca come round 7.

        3

        4
        1. So with a big question mark over the melbourne midfield doesn’t that flow through to Gawn?.
It’s hard to get HTA’s when the opposition read your work better than your own team. I currently have him but could turn him into sweet if Soldo breaks a fingernail.

          2

          3
          1. contested marks, and goals. If he’s fit he scores. I looked into him last year, it’s very surprising how high his ceiling is when you think he won’t do well.

            0

            0
      2. I faded Petracca because he’s a vice captain option far less often than you’d like.

He has been great as a safe captain option, because he has been ultra consistent.

But there seems to be far too much uncertainty with the midfield, especially given the lack of Oliver at present. While this also applies to Gawn too, at least Gawn comes with a big discount on previous year pricing.

So I found a way to stump up the extra for Bont, who doesn’t have the round 0 issue.

        1

        1
    2. Changed it back. English is back in ahead of Gawn. Memory of 2023 when it hurt not having him.

Stewart makes way for Flanders. First time he is in team, but I needed to see him training in the guts.

  4. my “way too early to call this a final team” side…

    i’m focusing mainly on
    – as few R0 players to increase scoring during Rds 1-6
    – players priced below their value (eg new club/role, breakout, injury affected)
    – using the 40 trades and boosts effectively towards a strategy

Rookies and Midpricers are subject to change based on fitness/preseason/performance/opportunity

D: Daicos, Stewart, Young, Chapman, Williams, Curtin (Gibus, Coffield)

M: Bont, Steele, MCrouch, Amon, Wines, Guthrie, McKercher, Sanders (Sharp, Clark, Mannagh)

    R: English, Grundy (Sweet)

F: Flanders, Macdonald, Lynch, Harmes, Reid, FMacrae (Wilson, Darcy)

I’m willing to wait and see role and performance before making a final call on some of the midfielders. Currently I see value in Steele (95), Crouch (87), Amon (86), Wines (83), and Guthrie (75) as they are all priced below where I think they can perform. I’d only be selecting to take me through the byes and hopefully pick up a fallen premium; if they pan out even better (eg Amon averaging 100 and getting D/M DPP in Rd 6).

thanks for reading – feedback appreciated.

    good luck coaches

    1. wow: MCrouch, Amon, Wines, Guthrie
everyone of them had at some point been in a version of my team this pre-season… but not all of them.
I would just go with two (at most) and turn the other two into a premium and a decent rookie

      6

      2
    2. I’d agree with Derek…go just two..for me it would be Amon and Guthrie based on value and expected role

  5. Question time Dr Derek,
Would the changes to Bont and Brayshaw also be related to their improved chances of becoming DPPs over those replaced????

Ps Mark your reply PNL/CON and I won’t tell anyone……

    0

    1
    1. Don’t think either are thought to be possible DPP.

I had Rozee in team and one reason was the chance he could get it.

I’m sure there will be a few like Parker and NMartin, but not really considering starting anyone because of it

      3

  6. Here’s today’s version taking into account position movements and the current “training the house down” rumours.

Ignoring of course Nat Fyfe for injury reasons, because we’ve all been down that path before.

I see it as 12 premos, and a fair chunk of the top rookies and plenty of rookie priced cash gen.

D: Houston, Ridley, Young, Chapman, Williams, Gibcus (Reid, Coffield)
M: Bont, Zerrett, Butters, Brayshaw, Walsh, Miller, McKercher, Sanders
    (Sharp, Mannagh, Hall)
    R: Gawn, Grundy (Sweet)
F: Flanders, Jordan, Harmes, Reid, Macrae, Sexton (Cadman, Darcy)

    Exactly $0 left.

    1. Ugh. Half the fun of the pre-season RMTs is to shoot down HH’s drafts but I actually really like this.

Textbook midfield, no overspend down back and strategically light up forward.

Always sexy to finish with exactly zero dollars ITB as well.

      Nice, HH.

      4

      1. Been pretty happy with most of my drafts so far. It’s really between this and one wih Sinclair but no Walsh (because Round 0) at this point.

The only players in there I’m not super comfortable with in that side is F Macrae and Cadman.

Both have been a bit short on producing anything to date, but preseason rookie placeholders and all.

  7. My team reveal that will probably have changed by the time most read this.
This year im trying to include players who i know can generate cash gen and have premiums who can break through.

    Def-Daicos,Sinclair,Young,Chapman,Curtin,Gibcus(Pink,Coffidield)
    Mid-LDU,Gulden,Green,Rozee,Miller,Crouch,Mckercher,Sanders(Sharp,Clark,Sinn)
    Ruck-Gawn,Grundy(Conway)
    For-Flanders,Jordan,Harmes,Billings,Reid,F.Macrae(Cadman,Mannagh)

Happy with structure but am just unsure on how many round 0 Premos i have and how they will impact my scoring.
Would love to hear some thoughts.

    0

    2
    1. 7x R0 players. Hmm.

Probably too many, yeah. 5 is pushing it. The non-R0 premos are simply going to be ahead on total points. By starting any R0 premo you’re accepting being ‘down’ a premo in the opening bye rounds.

Grundy, Miller and Flanders all must haves purely on value.

Green and Gulden I’m also not compromising on, so totally get if you don’t budge there.

Leaves Gawn and Daicos (cases to not compromise there either tbf). Both tremendous players obviously, it’s just a matter of 2 games of Daicos/Gawn v 3x games of Sicily/Tingles over the opening rounds – the non-R0 players come out ahead.

I’m not too worried about skipping Maxxy. Yes, he’s back to solo ruck and a god but has Swans and Dogs early (which I don’t love) and Tingles will outscore him early purely by not being R0.

Daicos does worry me. I’ve been telling myself he’ll get tagged given his early fixture but he and the Pies are just off tap. Can’t fit any more R0 players in but he’s definitely one I worry about not owning.

      1. As far as Daicos versus Sicily, is missing one bye round for Daicos more of an issue than Sicily’s almost inevitable suspension?

        0

        5
  8. DEF: Daicos, Sicily, Ryan, Jiath, Williams, Curtin, Hore, Coffield
MID: Bont, Petracca, Dawson, Newcombe, Brodie, McKercher, Wilson, Clark, Sharp, Hall, Brown
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy, Maley
FWD: Macrae, Flanders, Lynch, Lord, Reid, Watson, Cadman, Mannagh
First draft of many no doubt and built for a round win…can’t stand the byes, they have ruined SC and not interested in putting that much effort in.

    1

    0
    1. Sicily, Jiath, Nuke. Lol. Hawks loyalist, love it.

Sic and Nuke fair play. Jiath 347k, BE 62, Amon coming to HB. Hmm.

Do you have him going 85+?

  9. First draft, Pre-season will be more helpful

Def: Daicos, Sicily, Sinclair, Williams, Gibcus, Coffield (Hore, Pink)
Mid: Bont, Gulden, Green, Walsh, Miller, McKercher, Sanders, Curtain (Binns, Sharp, Hall)
    Ruck: English, Grundy (Sweet)
Fwd: Flanders, Allen, Harmes, Reid, Macrae, Wilson (Darcy, Mannagh)

    130K ITB
If West Coast get the ball up their end Allen will play a big role, plus possible ruck duties.
    Undecided between Sicily and Stewart.
But the same can be said for a number of players, especially the rookies.

  10. Sicily, Houston, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Coffield, Pink, Reid

LDU, Green, Brayshaw, Parish, Rozee, McKercher, Sanders, Sharp, Willson, Clark, Hall

    Gawn, Grundy, Sweet

Jackson, Fyfe, Harmes, Billings, Ried, Mannagh, Cadman, Darcy

    1

    1
    1. Talk of Sheezel moving to more forward/mid possibly means he’s already overs, but not by much. Compensated somewhat by the bye structure.

Jackson’s also an iffy pick. Without R1 tine he’s relying on natural improvement to maintain value. Once again, it’s compensated by the favourable bye, and also dpp ruck cover, if you’ve sold Sweet by then.

So neither is a “bad” pick. Just sharing my reasons why they went to my discard pile for debate.

      2

      2
  11. I’m not sure what the procedure is but a poll on how many R0 premos coaches are running with would be helpful. At the moment, I have 3. I would love to get in Daicos but is 4 R0 premos too many?

    4

    0
    1. At this point I’m running with only 1 R0 premo.. and that is Grundy because of his high value.. unless there’s a 20+ point discount ($112k) I’m not picking R0 premos before their first bye, or any who have the R12 bye.
Gawn is 50/50 at the moment, his R0 performance will sway me one way or the other.

      4

      0
      1. Agreed Lazza, Grundy will hopefully be the bargain of the year. I’ve tweaked my side so Daicos is my second R0 premo. My third, because I’m a sucker for preseason news out of Punt Rd, is the triple Norm Smith medallist. He may not be as consistent as Macrae but he will certainly be more fun to watch.

        1. Hi Bazza, keep your eye on McAuliffe and Steely Green.. both flying at Tigerland… go Tiges
(Is it ok to call you Bazza?)

          1

          0
          1. Thanks for the tip Lazza. Been following McAuliffe for a few weeks now – a big-bodied midfielder from SA who’s been turning heads in the match sims they’ve had recently. He’s in my team at present. Thanks for the heads-up on Steely Green – will add him to my watchlist. I think Yze will give Punt Rd the freshen-up it needs.

            1

            0
    2. 2 here atm …may yet get it back to 1 or even zero…decisions, decisions….practice matches will decide for me…if Daicos gets off to a flyer and you don’t have him (currently 61% do in SC) it will probably be a long wait to get him in…if indeed you ever can..

    1. Zac Fisher is currently suffering a Hamstring injury so is a watch, but looking unlikely to be a good starter. Adelaide’s injury situation down back makes Curtin look good, and Keidan Coleman had a monster finals series and is about the same price as Fisher.

Maybe lose Edwards (which one?), push Gibcus to the bench, bring in Coleman. Push (Caleb) Daniel forward into Fisher’s spot, then spend Edwards + remaining 48k (hence why which one matters).

      3

      2
        1. Thought it would be which means the cash wouldn’t stretch to Curtin/Coleman for Edwards/Coleman unless you looked at downgrading another player slightly.

There might be other options stand out as the preseason continues. Fisher is still possibly available for round 1 as well.

Other than that, basics look good. Most of the “star” rookies, solid premos.

      1. G’day SC’s,

        Team to date:

Def: Stewart, Sinclair, Chapman, Williams, Curtain, Gibcus, (Pink, Coffield)

Mid: Bont, Dawson, Laird, Butters, Miller, McKercher, Sanders, Rogers (Sharp, Wilson, Mannagh)

        Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (E. Read)

Fwd: Macrae, Fisher, Harmes, Reid, Duursma, Watson, (Cadman, F Macrae)

Defence: Would like to squeeze Sicily in too, which may occur by cashing out the bevy of expensive rookies I have around the ground. Williams is wait and see and the other rookies pick themselves at this point of pre season.

Midfield: Bont picks himself, gone the Adelaide double of Dawson and Laird (they seem to be able to both go large without affecting each others score – I haven’t seen Laird in to many other teams). Butters trajectory looks promising and Miller too good to pass up at his price. Originally had Greene and Gulden but the Double Bye Boogeyman has been haunting my SuperCoach dreams…Rookies self select.

Ruck: G&G is self explanatory. Gone with Ethan Read as an expensive R3. I am bullish on the Allies boys (McKercher, Sanders, E Read, Rogers and Jed Walter is a beast), watched a fair bit of them last year and a mate is one of the assistant coaches. Spike McVeigh coached them beautifully, like an AFL state of origin side that gets thrown together with minimal preparation during their season but galvanised them to achieve the ultimate goal. They all seem to be able to hold their own and look prepared to step up to the next level.

Forwards: Honestly, not sold on any of them. Macrae – can he bounce back? Fisher – I know he is under an injury cloud, I am a Blues supporter so I have watched him closely for many years, reckon he has great potential and if he can settle at half back and have a bit more measure and poise, I reckon he can brain it. Harmes looks the most likely to crack the best 23 at his new home. Jordan and Billing’s not so sure. Lynch could be gold but has barely broken in to jog this preseason. I have pencilled in a few expensive rookies Duursma (if he gets a clean run of games, he is my Smokey for Rising Star Award) and Watson (low possessions but high efficiency- good for SC scoring). Backing Cadman to find his feet and it might just be F Macrae’s year to cement a spot with the Pies.

Anyhoo – any feedback and comments welcome.

        2

        1. And I reckon Flanders golden run may come to an end with Miller reinjected to the midfield and Dimma’s coaching style.

          3

          0
          1. Agree. Clear purple patch for Flanders and Miller was either not present or slowing being reintegrated on lower CBAs and time on the wing.

In a normal season, I wouldn’t bother with Flanders – but there’s no one else.

            1

            0
          2. Equally, Miller might not be a bargain given how the Dimma/SC conundrum works. He may see Flanders as his new Dusty.

We won’t know until the details of match sims get posted.

            1

            1
            1. Great point HH. Miller may become Walsh depending on their performance in round 0. Small sample size but that’s all we have got. Amon is another that is of interest but I see him as a bigger risk than Walsh or Miller.

      1. Gut feeling and also how he went in his first season, I just think another year on he can improve again (fingers crossed). Also his bye round is very appealing.

        1. I’m a Port bloke but totally rate Laird/Dawson duo as highly as Bont/Libba, Satan/Trac, I’m hoping my boys Rozee/Butters continue upwards like the duo’s mentioned.
For now, I’ve got Laird, I feel his contested work and tackling offers more than Dawson’s beautiful disposal….it’s marginal really

Talk of Sheezel in the FWD Line so its a pass for me. At this stage starting Diacos, just a class above most and will be #1 Defender.

Parish is the POD in the mids, surprised i have not seen Laird in more teams. Really like Walsh for the price and what he can do….want him early as i can. Has the skills set and engine for a 115+ avg

Gawn Grundy not even going to think about another Ruck combo. Hoping Sweet can gets the nod for RD1 for cover during the early bye rounds.

Fyfe, i will run the gauntlet, if he stays out of the FWD Line during the preseason games and is fit for RD1 he starts. Some cheep options in the FWD that could go 70+

    Now I sit and wait…..

    1. Really like the structure. Running the same. I think it doesn’t matter that the forward line is so thin – given we have best 18 for 4 of rounds 2-6. Just hope it doesn’t completely fall apart over that period.
Looking at your M6 – you will have to upgrade at some point. So there is an argument to spend that money in the forward line instead – like a Fisher, who is more likely to be a serviceable F6 more than Dow at F8. The other consideration for that is the M9 and M10 are likely to post better scores than your F5-F8. So looking at how to get those scores onfield.
See your comments on Gawn and Grundy. Noting that a lot of teams going this way. In my mind it’s likely that English and Marshall are 1,2 at year end. Which means we are left at best a 3,4 ruck combo if we don’t upgrade. Plus of course the pesky early bye.
I would consider getting Gawn up to English or Marshall. Possibly Dow is your downgrade. One less upgrade required during the season.

I am still trying to solve the same riddles with the same structure! Good luck for the season.

  21. Def: sic, stew, young, budarick, williams, curtin (hore, coffield)
Mid: trac, dawson, butters, LDU, green, steele, mckercher, sanders (rogers, sharp, mannaugh)
    Ruck: gawn, grundy (sweet)
Fwd: lynch, harmes, reid, duursma, caddy, sexton (wilson, cadman)

plan is to move green to walsh at round 3 after his hopefully huge scores vs west coast and north and then move trac to daicos/gulden after their byes in round 5 to maximise points with these extra trades

  24. Having trouble splitting the two Freo (Brayshaw & Serong) and two Port (Butters & Rozee) MIDs, currently have 3 (Butters, Brayshaw & Rozee) but is that too heavy – likely biased by their amazing R13 bye, although I feel Butters is a lock – has amazing upside imo.

Please rank them in AVG for the season, my opinion:
    1. Butters
    2. Brayshaw
    3. Rozee
    4. Serong

I worry about Butters playing style re: frame and injury possibility,
serong seems to be always on where brayshaw is a bit more up and down,
      rozee kicks goals,,,

  25. Hi All,

Can anyone please enlighten me as to whether the points scoring kicks, handballs marks etc.quoted in Key and Info at the base of our teams is legitimate and up to date???

    Cheers

    1. 5 pts for a hit-out?? That can’t be correct…maybe a hit-out to advantage, otherwise half the Ruckmen would be going at 150-200 every week!

      1. G’day Steverino,

        My thoughts as well.
….and what about the 1 . 5 for the handball?

The hard ball getter makes the ruck look good, and then handballs to the running receivers who then gives the full forwards their early Christmas presents. (Add up Mark, kick and goal)

        Surely that can’t be accurate.

        1. I tell you what – if somehow that points break-down is correct, then we ALL need to reload our Forwards with otherwise useless Ruck/FWD DPP’s just for all the ruck hit-out points! >.<
Otherwise, I agree with you…none of points break-down really makes any sense

  26. I know this is not the right thread, but the AFL just announced another change that adds one more layer of complexity to SC in 2024.

Correct me if I am wrong, but in 2023, team announcements on Thursday night for Friday and Saturday games had the 22 named with three emergencies. The sub would come from one of the emergencies. Same thing for the Friday night announcements for Sunday games.

In 2024, the Thursday night announcements will have 23 named, plus 3 emergencies. The sub will now come from one of the named players – not one of the emergencies. In 2023, if we had a player named as an emergency, then there was a risk you couldn’t loophole them in case they were the sub.

Now, the problem will be that we won’t know whether a player named in the 23 will be a sub. That’s another level of problem. Especially if a player has played 2 games, is on the bubble and you bring them in. Only for them to be the sub.

Even just which rookies to field will be an issue. Will it mean that we need to have rookies who have the earlier games onfield just to be sure one of our onfield players is not the sub, and we have benched someone who is starting.

I think this may not be felt so much in the first 6 rounds because of best 18. But in the following rounds it will. The first batch of rookies tend to have better js than the second and third batches we bring in during upgrade season.

Maybe I am overreacting to this, but it does feel like another significant change that just makes this game slightly more tough.

  27. Bit of a option im playing with with midpricers for Value in crouch and guthrie but not sold yet. Thoughts welcome.

    1. Too much cash ITB,

if its intentional and a safety net for the speculative midpricers (Crouch & Guthrie) it’s understandable but would suggest you don’t have conviction in the picks

if its unintentional I’d upgrade your least favourite rookie to one of the FWD midpricers, ~$250k range

      1

    2. don’t mind Guthrie, if he is fit he should score ok, might switch with Stewart between midfield and defence

Crouch i can see his TOG being around that 60-65%. Just can’t see him scoring enough with that to make it a good pick

    3. I agree with Stonks. Too much left in the bank. I like the slim forward line structure but use the cash and get more midpricers in there. Macare at F3 scares me a bit.

  28. G’day all, my February team is quite similar to what I posted in the Jan RMT. Quite frankly haven’t played around too much as I’ve been looking more into Draft and keeper league stuff but lets dive in.
    ITB: $80k

Def: Daicos, Sicily, Sinclair, Young, Williams, Gibcus // Hore, Coffield

Mid: Dawson, Butters, LDU, Serong, Walsh, Mckercher, Sanders, Sharp // Clark, Sinn, Hall.

    Ruck, Gawn, Grundy // Sweet

Fwd: Fisher, Harmes, Billings, Reid, Watson, Macrae // Wilson, Mannagh

Starting in defence. I’m a pies man so starting Daicos. He’s also someone I believe could be close to M1 at the end of the season so would rather start him then risk him dropping in price. The rest pick themselves. Looking into it, I think the top 8 defenders will include the 4 premiums I’ve got so I’m already 50% finished there in my eyes.

I would love Bont in the mids but struggling to fit him. I have the cash now but holding it as a safety for moving rookies around, but I have it left when lockout comes around, then I’ll move Dawson to him. I like LDU and think he can really push 120av. Of course, hes burnt us a bit last year with his late outs but I’d rather start him then risk him catching fire, going bonkers and becoming almost unreachable. Walsh is in a similar boat. I think he’ll light it up this year.

G&G is simple. Some have mentioned they think English and Marshall will probably go R1&2 again, which I kind of agree, but I think all 4 will average around 115 so not much in it. Hoping Sweet can snag the R1 slot at Port, but if not I’ll drop him for a loophole option.

Fisher obviously the worry in the forward line. I’m quite bullish and waiting to see him in the role but if he looks it in preseason, then I’ll likely lock him in. I can see him being a Hall/Ziebell type scorer. Maybe not at those heights, but there is potentially value there. I don’t like the other premiums. Flanders price I like but worries me with mid minutes and Dimma’s glaring style that is not SC friendly. Pairing that with early bye is just one I’ll miss for now. I’d be tempted to go down to Fyfe instead if I need to.

Currently just moving rookies around at the moment, but I really like how I’m structured. Let me hear your thoughts.

    1. I like the bum FWD line. All the premos there suck, not a single one averaged over 100 last year – why should we pay 550k+? Noty.

I’m not sold on Flanders (at all really) but he’s there for me just because the rookie/MP isn’t quite deep enough to support the entire line imo.

      Nice, TJ.

  29. Left field cash cows I am considering:

Bailey Laurie – was sub in Melb’s most recent final. Finals are not the time to get games into a kid unless you rate them. I reckon he gets games @ $123k

Chesser (WCE) – spend a lot of time as sub. Surely he makes starting lineup now that he has 2023 under his belt.

Josh Sinn (PA) – Port rate him and he was injured last pre season. If healthy I think he plays @ $123k

  30. Haven’t locked in any players but right now my structure plan is

    4-5-2-0

Then 8 midpricers in the 30ok range

When 2 fail then I get a 12, th premo and a loaded best 18 (which will get me through the first 6 weeks

Then boost the final 2 rookies out rd7/8

    Might shift to 3-6-2

      1. What’s your bail out if Xerri doesn’t work?

I think you almost have to pick Luke Jackson to have a viable bail out but then if you combined the money of both players you’d just get a premium Ruck and a decent mid pricer on another line

        0

        0
  31. Is Flanders essential? Seen him in a lot of sides but not fully convinced. His bye coupled by dimmas record with mids doesnt excite me. And i’m already starting Daicos, gawn, grundy and potentially touk is that too many R0 players if you include flanders? Tempted to just go with 1 of Touk/Flanders and wait and see on the second post round 3. Thoughts?

    2

    0
    1. I don’t see him as essential. I’m worried about the same things are you. I’m waiting until I see more. If he goes 100+ in preseason and round 0, I think we will be very convinced.

  32. Funnily enough, I mentioned in my post above I haven’t really played around with my team but now hearing news on Nic Martin, I’ve done a decent shuffle and gone REALLY light on in the forwards to fit him. Don’t know how long it’ll last though.
    ITB: 27.7k

Def: Sicily, Stewart, Sinclair, Young, Williams, Gibcus // Hore, Coffield.

Mid: Daicos, Butters, LDU, Serong, Walsh, N.Martin, McKercher, Sanders // Sharp, Clark, Sinn

    Gawn, Grundy // Livingstone

Harmes, Billings, Reid, Windsor, Macrae, Sexton // Wilson, Mannagh

You can definitely see how light it is forward, but 12 Premos all up, 4 Round 0 premos. I don’t think it’s the worst. Whats everyone’s thoughts?

    4

    5
  33. Here’s the team… (for now)

Backs: Daicos, Stewart, Ridley, Young, Uwland, Hore, – Hardeman, Coffield

Mid: Bont, Oliver, Butters, LDU, Parish, JHF, McKerscher, Sanders – Clark, Sinn, Mannagh

    Rucks: English, Grundy

Forwards: Fyfe, Reid, Emmett, F Macrae, Sexton, Wilson – Darcy, Khamis

    Here is the theory..
    1. I’ve looked at this OR/bye thing and I reckon there is no use in having players who have a bye in rounds 2 and 3 because their prices won’t change until R4. That means no to players Brizzy, Blues, GC and GWS. I can see a lot of others seem to have come to the same conclusion. I see very few Brisbane players across other teams.

    2.
English – Best ruck is a POD – I’ll take it.
Bont – as per English but for the Mids.
Oliver – as per Bont but with issues. I have seen many over the years with question marks on their personal lives come out and consistently get it done on game day. Worth the punt on the basis he looks like he will be a POD and if he takes a mental health rest I don’t think he is likely to drop too much in value beforehand..
Ridley – will benefit from McKay in the back line.
Emmett – 2 late games last year for an average of 82. Can easily be replaced with a rookie if not selected.
JHF – has just replaced the injured Guthrie. A risk but he could explode..
I can’t see a forward I like – will keep looking. Anyone for Dusty?
