Reserves Rookie Review – Round 15 2022

Written by Alza on June 29 2022

Another round down as we now only have 4 more weeks until finals start and we start to rely less and less on rookies. There are still rookies putting their hand up to debut or return but others seem destined to remain in the reserves this season.

SANFL

Verdict: Gollant continues to kick goals with another 2 and Newchurch played his best game kicking 4.3 from 20 touches.

Jed McEntee $123.9k MID/FWD – 14 disposals (8 kicks), 7 tackles, 3 clearances and had 4 frees for – 69 (64/7)

Verdict: Hayes had a quiet one with only 6 touches and doesn’t seem like he will get many more games this year while McEntee could be in the same boat as he had 14 touches and laid 7 tackles.

VFL

COLLINGWOOD
Collingwood 11.6.72 def. by Brisbane 14.13.97

Verdict: Macrae and Carmichael both played well through the middle with over 20 touches each. Carmichael would be a great option for us if he gets a decent look in. Begg was solid in the ruck with 20 hitouts and a game high 10 tackles.

Verdict: Hollands still can’t get a game and for those that don’t have him are hoping he doesn’t until next season but I am sure he will play at least 1 this year to ruin his price for next season. Moyle did his usual thing with 37 hitouts and some good work around the ground as did Tsitas with 17 touches and 11 tackles.

Verdict: van Rooyen kicked 3 goals from 17 touches in a decent game while Laurie kicked a goal from his 21 touches. Chandler played well with 20 touches and 2 goals as well as good work around the ground, if he’s not the sub he should score okay in the AFL.

    1. I don’t think we’ll see him again this year, not fr an extended period anyway. He looked good when he played though

  1. Nice work again Alza.
    What happened to Jai Culley?
Expecting Hollands to get a game very soon and also have an eye on Carmichael.

    1. Culley had 14 touches (7 kicks), 3 marks and laid 5 tackles. Not too bad but most of the other Eagles had big days as they won their first game in the WAFL
