Rookie Guide – January

Written by Gunboat Diplomacy on January 4 2024

We’ll do increasingly more detailed installments of the Rookie Guide heading into the season. For now, here’s who you can fill out your drafts with on each line:

  1. Nice work GD, but I wish you hadn’t included Cadman !!!!! I agree with Tof…looks like good options this year.

    1. Liking Cadman. Ya. They’re developing him as a long term prospect and just resigned him.

Has North and Eagles early. Potential to fill up there and chug along nicely at F8.

      1. Exactly, they will obviously give him a good run at it…a nice slow burn averaging 45/50 with js will do nicely for f8.

  2. I think the lack of key defenders at North might give Pink an opportunity. Drury, also at north might be worth monitoring. Played a few games last year. May be that Mckercher and Duursma go straight past him though.
Maybe F Macrae at the Pies might find a spot – potentially Lipinski. On the Pies – McStay’s spot seems to be an early battle between McInnes and Johnson. McInnes might be the more affordable, but even if he gets the early nod, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pies try different options during the year. So we might not get the job security we need.

  3. Good work GD.

A few Rucks… none in the lock category, but worth a thought over a donut:
    Ethan Reid (GCS) $171.3
    Jordan Sweet (PA) $158.7
    Sam Naismith (RIC) $123.9
    Nathan Kruger (COL) $123.9

  4. Thankfully it shouldn’t be as much of a lottery with rookie picks with the 4 game opening round. It should give better insight on some rookies and not relying just on preseason form

  5. Gallagher has been playing as a midfield during the Dogs pre-season. Doesn’t mean it’s impossible that he’ll play round one but makes it a lot harder for him.
