Rookie Review – Round 16

Written by Alza on July 2 2024

Another round ticked off and the Suns rookies continuing to be among the best scorers.

Some decent options in defence with Schoenmaker and Evans on the bubble this week. They should both have decent job security and good roles for scoring. I probably prefer Shoenmaker based on a gut feel but it’s hard to split them, Dougal Howard will be back soon which could but hopefully won’t impact his role or place in the team. Evans is slightly cheaper though so that’s a positive if it makes a difference in your upgrade. Or you could wait for Humphries, he should stay in the side after his great debut and has DPP but it’s best to wait until his 3rd game.

Players on the bubble are marked with an asterisk*

The Good: Dempsey has returned to his best form the last few weeks with the Rising Star up for grabs. 25 touches, 4 marks, 4 tackles, 7 score involvements, 2 goals and over 400m gained. Reville had his best score thanks to 18 touches at 83%, 5 marks, 4 tackles and 8 score involvements. Lohmann recovered from being subbed out with 10 touches, 3 marks, 5 tackles and a goal. Majority of his work done in the last quarter to boost his score.

The Bad: Morris struggled in this game with just 1 kick and mark before being subbed out. Dear was subbed out tactically but did suffer a knock so it was likely precautionary, 1 mark and 1 handball.

  1. I’ve been wondering this all season. What does the ‘scoring, job security, role’ thing mean next to the list of names under Trade Targets?
Is that things that they’ll be good for or potential problems for them?

    1. That is why they are trade targets, good things that they have I guess.
Playing in a decent role at half back they should be able to produce good scores and with their 1st 2 game being pretty good they should stay in the team.
