SC Racing – Week 5

Written by Motts on October 28 2020

Round 4 of Supercoach Racing has been run and won and remember to be in the running for the overall prize to add @SCT to the end of your team name. We now have 13 stables in the top 1,000 overall so great work to everyone. Shout out to Kid81@SCT with the top score of the round of a stable with @SCT in their name with 240 and to BestOfTheRest!@SCT who is currently leading the race for the prize! If you haven’t joined yet, the league code is 907361.

As always, note that the below is purely based off Supercoach value and Supercoach options and is in no way shape or form my betting preview of the races.

Well it is moving round for Supercoach Racing with a whopping five group 1s, four group 2s and three group 3s across the two states! Plenty of points on offer across the day which means we will see plenty of big scores!

Flemington Race 5 – Group 1 Empire Rose

Odeum ($175,000) and Mystic Journey ($425,000) head up the market here in the 14 horse field, with the former offering great value. Seems a fairly even field behind these two so no knocks on picking something away from the two favourites.

Flemington Race 6 – Group 1 Coolmore

A cracking field of three year old sprinters engaged here. Very even opening market and there are plenty of options to choose from here. September Run ($175,000) seems the pick of the bunch but could easily entertain picking 5 or 6 different horses in this race.

Flemington Race 7 – Group 1 Victoria Derby

The main race of the day with the three year olds again taking centre stage but this time it is a staying test over 2500m. Young Werther ($125,000) may have burnt plenty last week with his scratching but looks a great option again, and the beneficiary of YW’s scratching in Cherry Tortoni ($200,000) also looks like another great option.

Flemington Race 8 – Group 1 Cantala

The most wide open of all the group 1s at Flemington on Saturday. Hard to recommend any with a degree of confidence but would say that Buffalo River ($275,000) is the pick of the bunch.

Rosehill Race 8 – Supercoach Group 1 Golden Eagle

Supercoach has decreed the Golden Eagle be treated as a group 1 and if we thought the Cantala was an open race then it has nothing on this. Won’t talk anyone out of any horse and won’t recommend any particular horse.

Best of the Rest

A strong undercard outside of the group 1s this week and here is my thoughts on some of the better options…

Aysar ($175,000), Victoria Quay ($75,000), Octane ($200,000) and Ashrun ($100,000) all look great options to help fill your stables if you have any spots left over from the group 1s.

All the best for round 5 everyone and would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on their strategy for the round, as well as captaincy and bench options.
