SCTTL – Summary

Written by JimmyDee on April 26 2023

Apologies for the delay in summarising our week of woe, but the long weekend of footy and other commitments provided a couple of hiccups  to the smooth reporting of a normal Sunday evening.

That said, only 4 of our 54 Techie members could crack the sacred 2000 point barrier this round. Experience showed through with two of those being past winners, D.J.Rules (2059) and Chips Ahoy (2010), and the other two long time players in Father Dougal and his Nuns (2037) and Zac’s Lathaz SCTTL (2027) nudging up the ladder.

Last years winner, Abel’s Axes, is suffering an early Geelong like hangover slipping to 50th cementing him firmly above yours truly still in last place. Seems the peak bowls circuit in the Territory and SuperCoach don’t mix ideally, but hey, still in there battling away. Immediate aim is to get off the bottom, just hope that’s not aiming too high !!

Brad, Maryann, Amir, Lucy and Gabriele (or their alter egos) are respectively in the top five rungs on the ladder after the round.

Question is, how many went for the easy swap of Cameron to Grundy a few weeks ago and regret it after big Maxs’ return. How many of the thousands who traded in Touk last week need to trade him back out. Certainly hope it wasn’t Amir’s Ninjas as I feel he’s used about 20 trades already.

Let us know how you plan to climb the ladder or stay on the top rungs if you are skilled enough to be there at this point of the comp. AND, good luck managing this week.

  1. Used a boost to nab Dawson, Touk and Roberts for not only a net points loss but two more costly trades to replace Roberts and Touk.

The unpredictability of the Bowls draw for the NT carnivals has not allowed monitoring so also missed about 70 odd points from loops. Good news, no Bowls this weekend so might get off the bottom with a bit of (lot of) luck.

  2. Tried to save a trade or two last week as the cows weren’t ready for the abattoir and was punished. More aggressive plans this week moving Warner on (will have moments but not a keeper) to get in two true premiums and start heading in the right direction. Hopefully holding Day pays off as well.

    1. Save a trade??? Keh???? Just fell short of being able to get Bont, so risking Serong instead.
Having a total of 5 non playing in a round will make the trades tick over to help keep the points coming, and then the coin lands the wrong side up and you need to do the samething again the next week…… i think i could be keeping up with Amir……

  3. Disappointing round but held Day and Green through suspension and Oliver C didn’t work out.
Rookies hit a wall – Phillips, Phillipou,, Sheezal, Wilmont , Mckenna and Gulden had a shocker .
Time for trades boost this week

  4. I used just 1 trade this week (Ginbey to Chance Jones) which lost me points but made me money – thankfully avoided most of the carnage and decided to slap the C on Daicos when I noticed most had Oliver.

Final boost will be used this week leaving me 20 trades. Am keeping Grundy for now, going to dump non performing “premos” then complain each week that I don’t have enough trades!

    1. The fact you only made one trade has already been noted, and that poor effort will mentioned in a certain league chat room !!

  5. Feels like every move I have made this year has backfired!!
Brought Touk in last week too.
Back to the drawing board for the Axes again.

  6. Welcoming Miller to the team and having the C on him did hurt a bit. Struggling juggling 2 teams. Just need to get a bit more organised on the weekend. Was happy I didn’t fall as far as I’d thought, 270 off the lead is not so bad, just got to nail a couple of those captain calls.

25 trades and 3 boosts left. Think I’ll go like for like with Miller and try to bring in a couple of cows for cash gen. Although I did like Abs call on Himmelberg in Fallen Premiums.

  7. 23 and 1 boost remaining. Not sure about this week. I may actually hold fire on trades….I say that now though!

I went Serong over Miller last week, purely based on his lower ownership. That definitely helped!

  8. Feeling like the team’s coming together a bit better now.

Being aggressive early and doing boosts in Rds 2 & 3 seemed to help get some cash gen, then spent up big in Rds 4 & 5 bringing in English, Dawson and Daicos.

And finally nabbed a great VC score with Marshall last night, so here’s hoping for a big one this week.

Of course, only 2 boosts and 22 trades left (haha), so I’m sure it’ll all come crashing down later.

Just gotta keep getting those damn rookies off the field. Thankfully most of them are in the FWD line, and they all scored pretty well last week.
