    1. I’m a little less saddened that at least 1 Geelong player hasn’t immediately worked out going up to Brisy.
      After Bourke and Bews trekked on 3 camels and a kangaroo to get up there. Shayne Hamilton obviously did pretty well as they named an island after him. Linc McCarthy has really come on, so to see Cockatoo not go gang-busters straight away is delightful.

  3. Following on from an earlier post I saw in in trade talk (where the majority voted Stephens out instead of Ward out) : If D Stephens is named to play on the weekend, and with a BE of 1, is Ward then a better option to trade out for O’Driscoll ?

  4. As a holder of D Stephens, I hope I am wrong, but I just can’t see him coming back in this week.

    From all reports, he played pretty well in the seconds – but Sydney’s only real injuries (apart from Papley) are big guys.

    It’s a shame – as I reckon with a decent run in the senior team, Stephens would have scored pretty well (and been reasonably consistent for a “rookie”) this year.

    Looking forward to seeing the teams – particularly Fremantle’s.

    Although they are playing on a Sunday, so just to annoy all SC’ers, there is probably little doubt that Erasmus & NOD are both named on the extended interchange bench 🙂 🙂

    1. I’m in two minds myself but thinking I’ll keep in for a couple of reasons. He did score a 95 so has a high ceiling , has a low be and in my case can use him as a captain/bench loop

      1. Now that Lachie Schultz is out for Fremantle, you would think that both NOD & Erasmus get a gig this week.

        However, it is now harder to work out if they remain in the side next week though 🙁

          Justin Longmuir stated that if Pearce is declared fit, he will be in the side, with one of Logue or Brennan Cox likely to miss out.

          Who is to be dropped for Caleb Serong and Darcy Tucker is the problem?
          Neil Erasmus and Nathan O’Driscol would be nervous.

  9. JPK managed and Horse still picks Ronke and Bell ahead of Stephens. So much for the pre-season hype!

    Also struggling to see how NOD keeps his spot. Look at that super-strong Freo bench. Could be some very upset coaches this time tomorrow!

  10. Tough for both NOD and Erasmus to both get a game Sunday.

    Of the 8 named extended bench Chapman and Serong are certainties.

    I feel Logue goes out for Pierce, and Erasmus for Serong as they’re pretty much like for like. Swita has been good and may hold. Tucker and Wilson throw a spanner in the works as they are usually best 22 but have both been getting over injuries so may be used as the Sub.

    My best guess is..

    Bench: Chapman , Serong , NOD , Switkowski or Tucker ( the other Sub )

    Emergencies: Logue , Wilson, Erasmus.

    I think O’ Drizzle would be pretty stiff to miss on his current form, though I guess theres some chance they make him Sub 🙁

      1. Gibbo is highly touted among richmond, he is a kid though, and as such a high draft pick they don’t want to run him into the ground. should be back (100% over miller)

    “The assessment that we’ve had is he should be right to go next week. Certainly no major damage was there. That gives him a chance for next week at least. He has to come out & train.

    “He’ll have a steady build-up. He’s already been out here doing some running so his recovery is on track. We didn’t want to push it any quicker than that. I think over the weekend we’ll have a bit more of an idea of where he’s at, when we come in Monday.”

      “We gave Scott every chance to get up and he really tested his shoulder at training today, but unfortunately he was unable to get through,”

      “We have decided the best course of action will be to have the shoulder repaired, which will unfortunately see him miss around three months of football.”
