  1. Jordan Ridley, think we need a poll or something on this man. Trade or hold?

    Tu- chop to Whitfield
    Td- hold

      1. Because finish your team first is why. Can’t just go sidewaysing premos every second week. Reassess when your side is done.

        1. If he keeps scoring the way he does, he will leak more cash. Whilst we have 4 trades it might be a more viable option for people to move him on this week. Just a thought!

          1. Olie, if you’re:

            1) flush with trades

            2) close/at full premo

            3) confident Whitfield puts Ridley away OA

            4) and solid for the next two byes

Then, sure, go Ridley -> Whitfield.

            1. I’d love to move on Ridley to mills but have more pressing issues atm. Maybe in the future I will but not now

    1. This is probably an unpopular opinion but i am actually gonna be sideways trading ridley this week for Lloyd.
my thinking is that I am gonna be struggling for a for sure premium for my round 14 bye. I might be in the minority as ive only got 2 upgrades left to complete my team and with 10 trades left i think this trade will help my crack further into some good ranks for overall.

  2. Using the war chest (already have $330k):

    Grundy —> Reeves
    Waterman —> Hall
    Byrnes —> Boak
    Jordon —> Guthrie

CCJ at R2 only rookie left on my field with 9 trades left.

    10

    1. I can’t tell you how bad a trade Grundy to Reeves is, especially after he’s only missing one more match. Confused.

      41

      4
      1. Because it allows me to have 2 rounds worth of 2 extra premiums instead of rookies, and then in R15 I’ll have Guthrie + CCJ instead of Grundy + Poulter.

Also ranked inside top 400 so need to take risks if I want to challenge.

        27

        9
        1. Like the Grundy move if you did it last week. You are now a week late for it. Did last week and made an extra 220 points. Instead of donuts I brought in steel and CCj and have 200 k left for another upgrade this week.

          2

          0
          1. I traded Flynn instead of Grundy for the same result.
Trading Grundy this week allows 3 upgrades rather than 1.5.

  3. Already have Whitfield.

    Might go

    Flynn >>> Reeves
    Highmore >>>> Rosas

Bank 300k (Total bank approx 450k) 8 trades left

Then triple upgrade RD 13 and have 4 trades 1 rookie on the field after rd 14

    1. Anyone with an actual “good strategy” would have been totally floored by the fixture change. Go and troll elsewhere.

      41

      1. Speaking of cheap. That is a cheap comment Smersh. I am not trolling. No need to make it personal.

        11
        1. To the thumbs down crowd – sorry that you think I am trolling. I am truly not and I am astounded that not agreeing to extra trades = troll.

    1. The change of schedule makes it tough but we are all the same boat.
Father Dougal preaches “trades are oxygen”. Some listen, some don’t. Those who don’t are usually found out.
Now Carefree traders who would have been low on trades at the pointy end of the season have been rewarded with a get out of gaol card.

      16

      12
      1. Agree to a point with you baz. I have planned well for byes and still have reasonable amount of trades left. I also have 4 tiger players which now leaves me 12 players in round 14. I am near full premo so don’t need the trades apart to get through round 14.

        4

        0
    2. Olie, my suggestion would be : 4 trades allowable during round 13-14, but season trades remain at 30.

      3

  4. I think I’m finally cutting bait with Cripps this week cause 2 tons from 12 games just isn’t good enough for a mid so need a replacement:

    TU: Boak
    TD: Titch

    Comment: Jelly

    13

    7
        1. Completely agree AJ. I’ve never had him in any of my SuperCoach sides but felt he fits the price range and wanted some other opinions.

I’m leaning Boak cause he’s the boring consistency that my side needs but Jelly has incredible upside

  5. Considering Whitfield, (would love a poll on “is he necessary / being traded into your team this week?). My backline is finished (and the only line that is) after trading in Lloyd, but could move Laird to midfield, to make room for Whitfield…. But with only 2 mid spots to fill, and I really want Bont, whilst considering Neale….maybe I don’t have room for Whitfield. It will come down to cash generation I guess – at $503K, he is a full $100k+ cheaper – money that can be used to try and find permanent players for my forward line. Lots to consider….

    7

    0
    1. You could go Tom Hawkins over Whitfield. Similar price probably will hold value as a good F6

      6

      7
    2. Tread with care Lisa. Whitfield breaks down a bit. Only do if you have plenty of trades

      2

      2
    3. I’d be more tempted to get an actual midfielder over Whitfield, there’s about 5+ mids that should score better than him (Boak, Petracca, Brayshaw are good examples).

Laird back to defence and 3 mids is better than Whitfield, Laird + 2 mids.

      6

      0
      1. Something to consider for sure. 3 mids is better but for me, it’s more that the price of Whitfield at $503,600 is so much more affordable than finding another midfielder who could score 100’s on average for the rest of the season for that price. With most coaches now cashing in on fattened up or bleeding cash rookies, and not many replacement rookies to select, cash in the bank becomes as important to me as remaining trades.

        5

        0
        1. Yeah definitely, I’m also looking at Whitfield myself but it all depends on which mids you already have and which you are targeting so every team is different.

Also, there are murmurs of Whitfield training separate from the main group this week so keep an eye out for that.

  6. Waterman > Reeves (via CCJ )
    Highmore > Bianco
RCD > Whitfield (via laird dpp)
Laird will now become my m8.

    Thoughts? Tu or Td?

    12

  7. Pretty straight forward this week

    Warner, RCD and Murphy out
    Bianco, CCJ and Whitfield in

I’m going to need a huge slice of luck to get 18 on the field in round 14, but doesn’t everyone?

    23

    1. Lol…18 on the field in Rd 14.
      I’m looking at 14.
15 if Zorko appeals & wins.
16 if Brockman plays. Even bigger lol.

  8. $292k in the bank!
Def – mills, laird, Stewart, Daniel, Ridley, bianco (jones, Murphy)
Mid – Oliver, bont, macrae, Steele, Merrett, Taranto, Cripps, poulter (Scott, berry, brockman)
    Rucks – gawndy (Coleman jones)
For- zorko, zieball, dusty, rowe, weightman, waterman (bergman, mccreery)
At the moment thinking of either rowe or bergman to reeves and send Coleman jones forward via dpp. After that not sure what to do, I also have around 460k after that trade with 3 trades left for the round! Let me know what other trades I could possibly do Thankyou!

    3

    2
  9. DEF – Laird, Daniel (BYE), Short, Lever, Jiath, Jones (Murphy, Highmore)
MID – Macrae (BYE), Guthrie, Merrett (BYE), Petracca, Fyfe, Taranto, Mundy, Jordon (Bianco, Brockman, Ralphsmith)
    RUC – Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
FWD – Zorko (BYE), Ziebell, Martin, Impey, Poulter, Madden (BYE) (Rowe, Macrae)

13 trades remaining and $258.8k remaining

As much as I’m a little glad that 2 extra trades have been given, I still don’t want to them because of all the sideways trades I’ve been forced to do this year. BUT, I feel if I’m to survive the next two rounds and make improvements, I’d be needing to make 3-4 trades this week (and possibly next week) to have any chance of doing that.

Fyfe having his shoulder dislocated and Zorko getting suspended doesn’t help one bit. Plus there’s heaps of people I need to trade off like Highmore, Rowe, Finlay Macrae. I also want to oust Jiath badly, but I can’t do that until after the byes if I’m to have 18 playing in the next two weeks.

There’s one trade I plan on doing, which is Flynn to Reeves. CCJ was an option I was thinking to trade in a couple of weeks time, but the AFL decided to pull a fast one on us with the fixture change, so it looks like I’ll be missing the boat with him.

Also need to trade out Fyfe, but I’m not sure who to get. There’s not many good mids that had their bye last round that I don’t have.

Not sure who to bring in for my peaked and dropping rookies too.

Who do you think I should bring in? I know I’ve been repeating this question week and week out, but it’s not something that I personally have good judgement on based on who to bring in.

    My season needs saving fast

    2

    1. This is really tough. By my count you’ve only got 10 playing in rd 14 so you’d have to do max trades both weeks to get there but it’s also hard to know what rookies can be downgraded to. Like you I’m probably missing out on CCJ cause he just won’t fit for the byes now but here’s a plan.

Flynn to Reeves allows Highmore to Whitfield so that’s a start. I think that leaves you with about $480ish if you cull Rowe but that’s an awkward price and I can’t see anyone who just came off the bye worth it so I’d consider Rosas from GC who should keep getting a run and with the $350ish left you can sideways Fyfe to anyone. If you’re looking for someone off bye, I’d recommend Boak who wouldn’t cost you any extra and is boringly consistent. Other options could be Jelly, Touk Miller, Titch, Wines or even boost the forward line with Tomahawk or Hall.

That should boost your numbers for both this round and next and with the bank next week might be able to turn a combination of Jordon, Poulter, Highmore and Murphy into some warm bodies. Sam Walsh would be a great target that week and any of Dale, Hind or Langford (a bit of a crazy option) could help out the forward line.

      1. Take on a few ducks. Only bring in ultra promos you want short term pain for long term gain.

        3

        1
        1. Flynn to Reeves is a no brainer. I would then upgrade Rowe to either hall or Hawkins. Don’t under rate Hawkins consistently averages 100 which is good for a forward this year and rarely breaks down. Then maybe Highmore to someone like Stewart. You are low on trades so need to be careful. Good luck I hope whatever you decide works well for you.

          1

          1
          1. Not bad options, but I might pass on the Hawkins one. One rule I have is to never pick a key forward.
What about Fyfe though? I’ll need to get rid of him if he’s out for heaps of weeks

            0

            0
            1. Understand Hawkins have the same rule but researched his numbers so have decided to bring him in this week myself. Would probably wait to next week for Fyfe and make a straight swap then for a round 13 gun as the only total premium I could find from round 12 was Guthrie who you have. Maybe you could go titch. If I were you you due to lack of trades I would take bulletproof players. Good luck and hope I am making some sense.

  10. Thoughts on Touk Miller as a POD who had already had his bye.

    Considering going Cripps to Miller.

    27

    3
      1. Very small sample size (and in shortened quarters), but he went 111 98, 126, 111, 81 (Rowell injured in this one) last year.

        8

        0
  11. When Rowell went down in Round 1, I traded him to Andy McGrath who looked amazing in the first round and scored 133. This was his highest for the season, and hovered around 95 until now. With McGrath doing his knee, I need a replacement. If Rowell is back this week, would I be insane to swap McGrath back into Rowell?

TU: Do it! Rowell could win the Brownlow!
TD: Wait until his price goes down, then jump on the bloke who’s going to win the Rising Star.

    8

    21
    1. Rowell with a 197 BE. Give him two weeks (minimum one) to bottom out, assess his form and then decide.

In the meantime, look for a downgrade and get McGrath to a proven premo.

Rowell an option if you’ve got another MID spot to fill later on.

      12

      0
  12. For a fwd downgrade it’s hard to look past CCJ but is it worth considering Rosas instead as he should be playing in the dreaded rd 14?

TU: CCJ is a beast and will just keep kicking goals
TD: Rosas will play in round 14

    12

    3
    1. CCJ should have at least another solid 3-4 weeks….. Given injuries to Lynch, Nank & Soldo……

      17

  13. To quote Midnight Oil – “Its better to die on your feet than to live on your knees”.

Therefore going for broke and using 4 trades this week.
Out – Berry, RCD, Warner & Flynn
In – Duncan, Wines, Mitchell and Reeves

Not totally sold on Mitchell this year as he seems to have lost his impact but seems it be the best player in around the $550K price range that has had their bye.

Leaves me with $264,100 in the bank

    12

    1
  14. I had planned perfectly for the byes and actually had an even spread for all three rounds i.e 10 out for each Bye round. Sure I was still going to have to trade to field 18 as I’ve held the likes of A.Fyfe, Saunders and MacRae and co, but with the fixture change, right at present I have 12 playing Rd 14 and am hit with the dilemma of trading out players of the likes of Bergman and Kosi who have already had their bye and they both have such high BE’s. I’m going to have to tread very carefully over the next 2 weeks and ignore BE’s and concentrate on JS, Bergman and Highmore fit the bill there. I would love to go Treacy , he looked really good yesterday and with Freo’s injury carnage late in the game you’d imagine his JS would be rock solid and a few CBA’s to be contested. Doesn’t work with the bye structure though so I’m going to have to go Reeves
(Let’s hope he turns into his name and makes like Superman)
    Bergman and Highmore out
    Reeves and Bianco in.
Use the extra cash to trade in Lyons and top rookie the following week.

    2

  15. RCD -Reeves
    Jordan – Whitfield
Heneey – Hall (Wouldn’t of got Heeney in if i knew about extra trades i’m cooked next week with R14 players now to)

8 trades left 2 spots to fill

    3

    2
  16. All going well hoping to only use 3 trades this week and field a full 18
    Flynn to Reeves
    Menadue to Whitfield
    Waterman to CCJ
    Hoping RCD keeps his spot
    Good luck all

    3

    0
  17. Highmore, RCD, Flynn
    >
    Bianco, Reeves, CCJ

Leaves me with a phat $660k, I just home some other rookies flop so I can be justified in upgrading them

  18. Hi coaches,
What the hell had happened overnight??

I’ve missed the news about the extra trades and change to the bye rounds,
If someone could clarify what’s exactly happened, it would be appreciated

Sorry in advance for not knowing what’s
    Going on

    1. They brought up the tigers eagles game to this weekend so tigers didn’t have to travel back and forth and they will now have the bye next weekend. 4 trades available this and next week to compensate. Enjoy

  19. Really in a difficult spot this week.

Thinking of either doing something simple like:

    Poulter & Warner -> Jelly & Reeves

Or having to downgrade Grundy to help fund cover for next week (ill run very low on trades going this path….)

    2

    6
  20. Piggybacking off my last post:

    Think I’m locking in:
    Cripps -> Jelly / Warner -> Reeves

Next week Poulter -> Walsh & N. Murphy -> Cow

Team finished with just Danger to come in for CCJ / Reeves when they Moo.

    (Finished mids)
    Macrae / Oliver / Zerrett / Neale / Jelly / Walsh / tracca / Brayshaw

    (No Bont)

    3

    2
    1. Tu) ^^^^

(8 trades left, with Danger to come)

Td) get rid of another rook and spend an extra trade to get Bont

( 7 trades left, with Danger to come)

      5
    1. Can’t really go wrong with either.

GWS have an easy run coming up.

There is arguably better options in the midfield than Jelly but not many better than Whitfield in the defensive line.

      7

      1
  21. Assuming all are named.

    Flynn > Reeves
    Highmore > Whitfield
    Campbell > Holmes
    Rowe > RCJ

$327k in the bank, Poulter to Walsh next week.

Still buggered for Rd 14 numbers wise.

    8

      1. I’m not too concerned about his JS, just need an occasionally warm body to occupy that bench spot. If he doesn’t get named I’ll reconsider.

      1. Thanks Joe, unfortunately, I do have the three you’ve mentioned. As I went early on them to do an upgrade this week.

Anyone else? Luke Edwards & Max Holmes perhaps?

        2

        3
        1. Malcolm Rosas $123 900 Forward GCS.

If he looks to have a spot for the next few weeks, I may look at him.

          1

          2
        2. IMO Holmes if selected, wait on Edwards til after their bye, checking if any their stars coming back R15

          6

          1
        3. Geelong getting a heap of stars back over the next couple of weeks, can’t see Holmes holding his spot. The Eagles boys have the R14 bye unfortunately. Here’s hoping a r12 bye team names a debutant this week.

  22. Hi GD. Can you please explain to me the rules of changing your VC into a C during the actual round?

    1

    0
    1. Hey mate, if you’re content with your VC’s score you can then switch the C to a player that is a confirmed out (be careful they’re not the medical sub).

      I.E
Bont scores 130 as your VC; you switch Zach Merrett to the bench for Brockman who’s not playing, put the E on Zach Merrett and the C on Brockman.

Bont gets his double points, Merrett gets his score counted as an emergency and Brockman allows this all too happen by not playing.

  23. flynn to reeves
    RCD to CCJ
Warner to bolten/dale/langford not sure who yet

should I do Ridley to mills with about 70-100k in the bank with 9 trades left and 3 upgrades to do. my final upgrades would be jones (def) weightman and ccj (fwd). should I trade Ridley or keep an extra trade with more money (about 188-210k) in the bank.

    2

    1
  24. I get that most teams will differ in opinion here, but in general what’s more valuable?

    T/U: Reeves for cash gen
T/D: DPP ruck/fwd swing to allow CCJ to cover ruck and fwd line

    23

    1
    1. DPP Only works if you have 2 and one has to be on the bench. If you have someone like Treacy or Thilthorpe ect already on your team the DPP has some value but Reeves is maybe the best cash gen rookie right now so you’d want to have him at R3 unless you plan on doing something wild like CCJ at R2

      1

  25. Approval rating on the following please:
    Trading Jaith->Whitfield , & Scott->Reeves via dpp Coleman-Jones to Fwd line.
    Have to keep Grundy

    13

    2
    1. Why not Took Miller? He’s the best available RD 12 mid. If your rucks are set (Gawndy) and you have the trade up options to finish your team he’s a good POD and Rowell’s return might see them win more games and help his scoring

      3

      0
      1. What about Guthrie, Duncan, and Mitchell? I think most coaches would grab one of them ahead of Touk (although he is putting together a great season).

        1

        1
  26. Looking at my last defender. Stewart, Laird, Rich, Daniel, May currently in my team.

    TU: Whitfield
TD: Lloyd or Mills round 15.

    14

    27
  27. Clavarino (st kilda) job security?
Who did he replace in the side?

    Tu: good js
Td: will be out of the side very soon

    1

    9
    1. He replaced Frawley who I’m not convinced will be back in the team and Carlisle’s out for the year so he could be in for the long term but I don’t know that I’d trade in a saints rookie defender cause of what happened with Highmore.

      8

      1. Well my thoughts actually were trading highmore to him, coz highmore just seems to be hated by the st kilda coaching staff

  28. Going to use all my 4 allocated trades this week.

Flynn – Reeves , Rowe – CCJ , RCD – Whitfield and offloading Zorko to Hall . Leaves 300k for a Jordon upgrade in Round 14.

    8
      1. TDA

        I like it.

        I’m doing similar.

I went early on Reeves, Bianco and Whitfield last week.

        This week its..

        Zorko to Hall.
        Warner to Jelly
        Rowe to CCJ

I just can’t hold Zorko though these Byes.

Next week I’m looking at taking a punt on Langford.

He’s been getting CBA’s and with McGrath now missing he looks to be the one to step up.

He could be a cheap F6 at $474K

        Thoughts ?

    Thank you

    1. by my count you only have 12 playing in Rd 14 so you will need to do 6 trades over the next 2 rounds minimum (Assuming Madden has poor Job security and won’t play in rd 14)

I’d focus on good job security for your first 3 trades

Jordan >>>> Stewart(Whitfield also fine) (Laird to mid DPP) (94k Left)
Frederick/Madden >>>> Bianco pick whoever you think has a better chance playing rd 14/Job security (I’d keep Madden) (147k)
Thilthorpe/Poulter >>> Rosas(Hopefully the suns still pick him with rowell back) (300k)
Rowe >>>> Primo (Hall, Hawkins, or maybe one of the PA guys if you want to save money)
That’s 4 trades with 2 upgrades (Good Cadence) and it should give you a good score this week and put you in striking distance of a full team in Rd 14

    2. Anonymous Jude I recommend McNeil to Bianco gives you the DPP swing with Laird , Rowe to Coleman Jones , Frederick to Whitfield so you have 6 Defenders on field coming out of the Byes

  33. Hi guys – Playing for league victory so not worried about byes – If u had to hold (as bench cover only ) if rest of team complete who would u KEEP? Thinking Warner even if rested this week and then bye as probably has better scoring ability. What do u guys think?

  35. Why would there be 7 votes for Petracca when he has the Round 14 Bye and Hall has already had his Bye in Round 12 !

Seriously makes no sense at all with only 5 games in Round 14 and most people will be struggling to field 18 players.

    11

    4
    1. Still 9 rounds to go after the byes TDA. I think a lot of people are just tanking round 14 anyway, and picking the players they think will perform best over the remainder of the year.

      1. Fair Enough Chillo!

I am not a tanker though and play for overall and League.

I have 14 trades in the Top 4 in 9 Leagues including Top 100 League’s and ranked 2,802 overall so not setting the world on fire but my goal is always a Top 1k finish.

      2. Have to agree with you both Chillo and TDA, this exact situation has put me in a difficult spot, like I want to make trades this week that will help for the rounds after the bye but then if I do so I only have 13 players playing RD14

    2. Petracca needs to outscore him by 10 ppg in order for them to be equal on total points (from this round), so I would tend to agree with you on this one.

    1. Unless your team is almost complete and you have a lot of trades left i’m not sure why you would do this. in practice its 3 side swaps to avoid 1 injury week during the byes where they matter less to make 260k + whatever CCJ earns you. doesn’t seem worth it.

  41. Might already have been answered. Are these 2 extra trades we get only to be used during the bye rounds, or can we use them from rounds 15 onwards? Thanks in advance.

    1

    0
    1. It’s an extra two trades to be used at any time, i.e. we now have a total of 32 for the season.

You can also use up to 4 trades for each of rounds 13 and 14.

      5

  42. Have a nice problem with Treacy coming good and Darcy injury helping Treacy js. Not much difference in cash growth but Reeves is a fair bit cheaper than CCJ, and gives an extra warm body during R14. CCJ would mean dpp between him and Treacy. Reeves means I can get Bianco and possibly two uber upgrades this week from among the R12 lists.

  43. Hey guys

Fixture change has thrown my team into a shambles but looking at ways to sort that round 14 but banked some cash last week (471.2K)

TU: RCD, Murphy, Warner – Jelly, Whit and Reeves via CCJ (17.3k itb, 12 trades remaining, 3 upgrades left)

TD: same trade but DevRob or Waterman becomes someone like Callow or Newcombe and RCD becomes Touk instead of Jelly (Clarko has apparently said that both of them more than likely to get a game in the next 8 weeks) 63.9k itb, 11 trades remaining

Leaning towards trade 1, with GWS draw coming up

Thanks guys (will put team below for reference)

I would want to know what drills were being done when he went for his jog? What other training has he done? How he moved in his jog?

      Just pure speculation.

As fred said wait until teams drop.

Of course, if anything eventuates I post it in the coaches box.

  50. Current trade I’m looking at is:

    OUT: Rowe, Warner, Flynn, Jiath

    IN: Touk, Coleman-Jones, Bianco, Reeves

This’ll leave me with 326k banked. However I’m thinking of bringing in say Mills or Lloyd to complete my backline, and bringing in someone like Walsh or Bont next round. I’m only thinking this because I’d rather build the best team coming into finals, as I’m not worried about my ranking, just want to do well in the leagues I’m in (where I’m already sitting pretty comfy in all). Also I’m not sure if I want Touk to be in my team with Rowell coming back, as the the window of seeing how they work together is to short for me to have enough confidence in Touk keeping up his scoring (And there isn’t any mids that haven’t had a bye yet that I’m looking at). So essentially do I…

TU: do the trades I’ve posted above

TD: Not give a damn about bye rounds, and cop the possible L’s, focusing on completing the best possible team I can

    7

    9

  53. I’m of the mindset that R 14 is a hit to the rankings and its time to focus on making sure we come out the byes as strong as ever.

    Out: Flynn, Warner and RCD
    In: CJJ, Reeves and Miller

I bank 160k for next weeks big inclusion of the Bont for Jordon. Any thoughts? Cheers

    10

      1. Cheers GD. You’ve convinced me on Miller despite Rowells inclusion.

I read your thoughts concerning Grundy and as much as I’d like to offer similiar support to your trade proposal, I must raise concerns regarding trading out the big fella and brining in Cameron. I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

        1

        1
        1. Yep, Miller looking the goods.

Yeah, I know the Grundy move is dirty and Cameron isn’t that great a pick but it’s all I can think of rn to get me closer to full premo and put up a decent score in R14.

  56. I have 11 trades left before any this week and I have 16 / 30 players with the R14 bye plus Zorko, Mcgrath, Madden + Ely Smith so assuming Madden and Smith aren’t named, I’ll have 12 available for R14.

    Do I:

TU – use 7/8 trades over next two weeks to make sure I can field 17/18 in R14
TD – just give up on R14 and use trades only to improve my team

Am playing for overall since I’m 55th at the moment and 3 premos away from completing my team (4 actually if I include Mcgrath)

    15

    3. I reckon you just suck up round 14 pain. Maybe plan for 15 or 16 playing. Having 4 trades left for last 9 rounds is very dangerous however been following your team in sledges league and your trades so far have been awesome and probably don’t need my advice. 57. Hey guys. I’ve revised my trading plan and I reckon I can use four this week. My trades are as follows
OUT – Waterman, RCD, Rowe and Flynn
IN – CCJ, Reeves, Boak*, Whitfield.
Boak can be swapped for any Mid/Fwd Premium under 575k
Thoughts on the trades and any other premiums coming off the bye

    1. you’re probably a bit off Duncan which is annoying. I personally prefer Jelly over Boak if you don’t have him- or possibly even a Houston & Guthrie/Miller combo

      1

      1
      1. yeah I’m just looking to try and avoid jelly because he is injury prone and it seems everyone wants him, and if I want to compete i need a POD, and he has the highest average of any player in my price range

  58. Original plan:
Grundy -> Reeves (allows me to have reeves and flynn in rd 14)
    Rcd-> whitfield (via laird dpp)
    Warner -> CCJ

Already have 6 premo def (incl. ridley and daniel) but whitfields price and output looked too good to miss, particularly with lack of post bye targets for me.

However given the current whitfield injury whispers I am a little hesitant to get an extra defender when i domt need to if he is a chance to miss a game or 2.
My only issue is, there are no other trade targets, as Hall (priced same as whitfield) carries and equal if not greater injury risk/history than whitfield.

    Any ideas would be good.
Note: already have titch, taranto, impey, stewart, zeibell, bowes. And not keen on the likes of boak as i have my sights set on walsh and macrae for round 14.

    1

    0
    1. Also have zorko who is now missing the next 2, but becuase im already trading grundy and brjnging him back in for flynn as soon as he bottoms out, i dont really wanna waste more trades trading out zorko who is easily a top 6 fwd even with neale back in the lions side

      3

      0
    1. 50/50 they have a very friendly schedule but he’s inconsistent. I traded him out and kind of regret it due to the Rd 14 situation but if you are right there then go for it

  59. Will Miller and Lyon’s scores be effected now that Rowell (potentially) and Neale are back?

    3

    3
    1. Not sure about Miller and Rowell – there’s a pretty small sample size for them playing together. Lyons tends to score well, regardless of whether Neale is in or not.

      4

      1
  60. Warner > Reeves
    RCD > Touk Miller
    F Macrae > Newcombe

$10k short to get Touk so had to grab Newcombe.
    TU: Good Trades
TD: Save Newcombe and get Jelly instead of Touk

    4

    6
  61. Langford looking decent, particularly with mcgrath going down, however sheil expected back soon anyone think that will effect langford role or CBAs?

    4

    1
    1. only if guaranteed to play in the defence, which hasn’t been the case of late – he went back recently with Bowes out, but you would think when Bowes come back in he will revert to up the ground again … it’s a risk …

Tu) good idea, Houston will average similar to Short going forward

Td) that shoulder will cause him issues, look elsewhere

    2

    13
    1. it’s not just his shoulder – it’s where he is being played. Of late, he has been named centre and on ball … he scores poorly in those roles as he looks ‘lost’ on the field

If he is guaranteed to play out of the back he’s a decent choice and scores much better

AND sideways trading – bad idea …

      5

      1. Definitely makes sense, the same Issues as last year it seems. Cheers Macca.

Sideways trading I do agree is something I have stopped completely this year, (With the exception of Cripps if I pull the trigger this week)
however I have minimal warm bodies on field next round and instead of downgrading an undercooked rook is just as much of a trade burn IMO

  68. Is it worth getting Hall considering he’s had a bad run with injuries throughout his career? Currently have Zorko, Ziebell, and Martin. I want to get Sidebottom and Bolton but there’s no point getting them with their byes still to come.

Do I pull the trigger on Hall? Would appreciate other suggestions!!

  70. Hi all,

I just wanted to share some of my recent trading logic before I pass on this week’s plans. After a poor start, I have been flying recently and moved from 15k to 4k overall in the last month, winning 3 weekly prizes for top scoring in my cash league.

Firstly I traded Jelly in for @510k the week Whitfield returned to the side, figuring his role would return to normal as per prior seasons. Sure he may, correction, probably will get injured but so far so good.

When Dunkley went out long term I immediately looked at Lachie Hunter, who averaged 115 last season. I waited a week and he did not do much so left him alone. When Treloar went down 3 weeks ago I traded him in straight away for $465k, and he has had 27 disposals each week since. This may be short lived or change when Treloar returns but again so far so good.

Last week I traded in Kyle Langford and damn it the secret is out now ! BTW McGrath going out won’t or shouldn’t change his role and his CBA’s are good and only behind Parish and Merrett recently. Stringer’s return from injury has not affected him either.

So to this week and my question revolves around Dane Zorko, who I brought in when Dunkley went down (along with Sidebum) for $485k. At the time he was averaging 94 which was about what I expected of him. The prior week Sidebum scored 127ish playing mid so I actually though Sidebum would outscore Zorko moving forward, but it has been the other way around. Now that Neale is back I expect Zorko to move back to his “normal role,” these days more as a forward and average 95 from here on in. So $600k for someone to average 95 from now on, and who will score nothing for the next 2 weeks seems a lot of money to me. Yes he scored 120 odd last week, but from 22 possessions but he won’t do that every week now from what I can see with Neale back.

Anyway, apologies for the long one here, but this week it is Zorko to Pepper-Powell for me, who has virtually no CBA’s (yet) but seems to be the around the ground stoppage guy. $425k on the back of two running tons, and if he averages 90-95 for the rest of the year (which I think he will) then I will happily use the $175k elsewhere, which is on Whitfield presuming he is fit. Warner to Reeves and possibly one more downgrade this week to upgrade RCD to Parish next week, who will be my last major Uber splash. He is still cheap if he continues to average almost 140 as he has for the last 7 weeks ! This will leave me with 1 forward line upgrade to complete my side.

So am I nuts guys and a plane waiting to crash ? Any thoughts greatly appreciated

  71. Im thinking outside the box for a moment to trade Grundy..

ROB (147,137 last 2 weeks) has the bye next week with Stk,Carl,Bris,Ess in the next month with no formidable rucks bar-Ryder.

Banks $120k – BE 1 – will increase in price and pass Grundy on his way down.

Is ROB a viable option if trading Grundy this week?

    1. Don’t like it, you’re a round late to the trade IMO

I’ve after laying out my trade plans for the next 3-4 weeks have gone Grundy -> Jelly with the intention of getting Grundy back via CCJ.

    1. I think there will be a dip in scoring with Neale back, whether that’s a small dip or big dip we will see.

Love the Parish pick, if I could, I’d be all over getting him in.

    1. What does your rd 14 bye look like? will you make 18 if you trade Kozie to stewart?

Personally i’d keep Kozie. I’d be more worried about highmore losing money and wouldn’t want to keep him on my team anymore

  75. Hi guys – considering not worried about byes and playing for league only doing these trades

    Flynn > Reeves

  76. I was planning to downgrade to Holmes this week and use cash for an upgrade elsewhere but he is dropped from Cats team. I have the other decent rookies (Bianco, Reeves, CCJ). A downgrade is a must for me so is it better to go with Holmes or an untried rookie if any are named?

Anyone else bringing Duncan in this week?

  83. With not much cash in the bank and 3 upgrades to go – Im considering finishing my forward line via Grundy money & leaves me with 10 trades.

    Out: Grundy, Rowe
    In: CCJ, Hall/Hawkins

TU: Go for it, bring in Grundy later, $250-260k remaining next week, allows for my final mid or back.
TD: Keep Grundy, Bring CCJ in for Rowe-$120k remaining next week.

  84. This week looking to downgrade Flynn > Reeves, RCD > Whitfield (Via DPP with Bianco) and thinking of going Rowe > J.Kelly (via DDP with Poulter).
Any other trade advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Last week only made the one trade: Highmore > Bianco

DEF: Mills, Laird, Lloyd, Stewart, Short, Bianco (Kosi, L.Jones)
MID: Oliver, Macrae (BYE), ZMerrett (BYE), Walsh (BYE) , Titch , Jordon, Poulter, Byrnes (RCD, Brockman, Downie)
    RUC: Grundy, Gawn (Flynn)
FWD: Ziebell, Martin, Impey , Rowe, Madden (BYE), Treacy (Weightman (BYE), Waterman (BYE)

    1. I would think strongly about bringing in another rd 12 bye primo this week.

You only have 14 playing in rd 14 as of right now. If you get an injury or a rookie doesn’t get selected then you will only have 17 for that week. Byrnes to a 500k ish Primo (Hall?) would strengthen your score this week and give you cover for something going wrong next week.

He’s also near the top of his price cycle so you may make more money via a fallen premium type

      1

      0
        1. Oh Okay makes sense so the 16 trades/300K was before your 3 trades this round.

Dylan Moore (Hawks) Ben King (Suns) have low break evens and are projected to go up 40-50k over the next 2 weeks and both are likely to play rd 12

You are likely going to have to want trade them out Rd 15 maybe 16 if you get lucky but it could be a decent use of one of your free trades if it helps you jump to a better primo in Rd 16

Otherwise a rookie Downgrade to someone like Rosas or Jai Newcombe might be the way to go. More Cash for rd 13 upgrades but neither started out fast

  87. Here are my trade plans. Would love some feedback.

Out: Flynn, H Jones, Highmore, RCD
    In: Reeves, CCJ, Newcombe, Miller

Leaves me $115k and 9 trades. I have only 3 upgrades left for the season and am looking at Mills, Macrae and Bolton for those post-round 14. I should be able to get them in while keeping Bianco, Poulter and Robertson as cover til season’s end.

Also gives me 15 playing next round (assuming Madden isn’t named) before any trades next week.

    TU or TD?

  88. Putting my side up again, but I have an idea on what trades I’m thinking of doing.

DEF – Laird, Daniel (BYE), Short, Lever, Jiath, Jones (Murphy, Highmore)
MID – Macrae (BYE), Guthrie, Merrett (BYE), Petracca, Fyfe, Taranto, Mundy, Jordon (Bianco, Brockman, Ralphsmith)
    RUC – Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
FWD – Zorko (BYE), Ziebell, Martin, Impey, Poulter, Madden (BYE) (Rowe, Macrae)

13 trades remaining and $258.8k remaining

I will make all four trade this round, but I might only make a couple next round if I can help it. Sadly I’m probably better off sacrificing a donut next week to make some valuable trades the week after. But I made four because I had the opportunity to make two big upgrades and still have quite a lot in the bank.

OUT – Flynn, N. Fyfe, Murphy, Brockman
IN – Reeves, Newcombe, Whitfield and J. Kelly

Would leave me with 9 trades remaining and $242k remaining.
I’d only need 3 more upgrades (technically 4 with Jiath to go out eventually) to field a full premo side. Planning on downgrading Rowe to make sure I get to upgrade to someone good for Jordon. Maybe someone like Parish?

    TU – Yes, it’s a good plan!
TD – You done messed up, there’s a better way!

    1. Corey

I like these trades but I would personally adjust them slightly.

Rowe has a BE of 90 and will lose money this week.

I propose you leave Brockman and trade Rowe to Newcombe.

This will maximise the cash you get for next round.

This should mean you can turn Jordan and Poulter into two post bye Premiums. I believe you would have around $1.1 mil.
If you really want Parish, you will have to compromise on a cheap forward. I doubt you will even be able to afford Langford ?

      I would look going a Mid around $550K – $600K ( Titch – Walsh ) and $500K- $550K forward maybe Dale/ Hall / Hawkins.

Alternatively going a Langford type may allow you to get someone like Miller or Lyons.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

    Waterman > Bianco
    Highmore > Whitfield

    4TH trade;

    Tu; Grundy > Miller

  90. Fyfe is supposedly making a miraculous return in Round 15 (after Freo’s bye). Which is the better option now:

T/U: Keep Fyfe, he’ll come good. This means I’ll be full premo with 3 trades remaining
T/D: Trade Fyfe, his output will be affected. This means I’ll be full premo with 2 trades remaining

  91. Guys really need thoughts on my last trade this round. Contemplating either one of these trades;
    Apologies already posted, just really tossing up between these;

    Tu; Grundy > Touk Miller
(After next week Reeves will be my only rookie left on field, can hopefully get Grundy back in after a few weeks. This also gives me an extra premo and more points through the byes)

    Td; Brockman > Newcombe

  92. Need to trade out one:
TU – Tom Highmore BE 58 (named this week)
TD – Nick Murray BE 0 (not named this week)
Either way I’ll still have 6/7 playing defenders so won’t use highmores points if I trade Murray!

  93. With Serong expected to tag Miller..BE of 80, price could well stagnate..

Contemplating bringing in Josh Kelly 50k less. This player is my M3-4.

TU: Sure, makes sense, Jelly is solid
TD: Nup, stick to plan A

No point trading him for little cash.
