    Undecided on the following;

Tu; Cripps to May via dpp (will be roughly 410k, too cheap to pass up? Will bank cash)
Td; Cripps to top gun mid

    • Cripps has to go. Deal with him first, May will still be attainable in a fortnight.

Would be nice to grab May so cheap, but you can’t have an M5 “premo” spitting out 60s.

      • Soooo should I look at swinging laird into the midfield this week and bring in May?

Or should I just go and get a top gun such as llyons?

        • You could swing Laird into the MIDs if you’re really bullish on May, yeah, but maybe grab a high powered MID to make up some of the ground you’ve lost with Cripps. Any high ceiling Top 8 MID you fancy – maybe Walsh?

Also, be cognizant of how May would affect your bye structure. He’s got the R14 bye, where most of us already have 6 – 8 premos out.

Is May too cheap to pass up at 410?!
Already have gone sideways a few times this season due to injury ect

We’ll have some content out this week on polls, premos and trades that should help.

Let the May/premo MID binary stew for a week.

  2. Chapman and Rowe have to go, so I’m thinking:

    Chapman -> Frederick
    Rowe -> FWD premo

Have no idea which FWD premo though. Already have Ziebell, Dusty and RoMo, so thinking maybe Zorko?

      • Yeah, Thilthrope looks good. I liked that he still scored 50+ as a key tall without goals in a big loss.

Not an essential rookie but viable if you need a 2nd downgrade this week.

If you take it that he’s had a bad week as a young key forward in a weakened team this week then he looks pretty good.

2 games so very hard to judge.
He may make me pull a second trade this week but I’m trying to conserve some, the trading has been hectic already.

    • Shai Bolton? I brought him in last week for Dunkley as I already have Zorko, Ziebell and Impey.

He’s getting a good and now increasing midfield rotation. Dusty might be back this week, but Prestia is out for longer than expected and I believe Cotchin will be out for a few weeks, Lambert is also out.

I’m tempted to get Marshall in later but he spends a lot of time as a key forward and his foot injury seems like something that will have him in and out of the side.

Next week Kozzie to RCD via Laird DPP and Laird is back in defence. It does mean that Powell and Jordan are on the bench this week though which is not ideal, but trading Kozzie is not ideal this week either !

Cripps had 24 disposals which is not bad. He had 3rd highest number of contested possessions in the game. His game was better than his 65 SC pts.
Hold Cripps, save the trade and instead send a “please explain email” to CD 🙂

Agree it’s a bit early to say Kelly is back. I’d give him another week or two before we can say for sure. But I’m one for moving Cripps on ASAP. I fear he’s degrading into a SC irrelevant player, a bit like Cotchin has from his prime. Get something for him before he drops & settles into the mid $300K area.

  25. One of May or Daniel joins my team this week.

    S. May $408,600 is the flavor of the week but Caleb Daniel is only $412,400.

Both had good seasons last year with S. May over 100 x 9 times with top scores of 149, 123,122, and a few shockers thrown in (36, 58 and 3 games at the start of the season in the in the 60’s. Whilst Daniel scored over 100 x 10 times with top scores of 154, 134, 128 and his lowest score being 71.

Daniel has had a mixed bag this year with his Round 4 19 points and a suspension but has come back with a 78 in round 6 and a 117 round 7.

    • I’m personally going May.

Whilst it was good to see Daniel finally put together a decent score, I do have question marks over his role which seems to change by the week. Bailey Dale has been getting more kick ins and the Dogs will also get Bailey Williams back in the next week or 2 which could effect Daniel’s scoring.

May has a higher ceiling (as seen over the weekend) and his role is a lot more consistent. Also worthy to note that May cracked 100+ in 7 of his last 9 matches last season so I think he’s great value at 408k

  28. I found it hard to believe all of the media hype about how young and inexperienced the Essendon squad is this year so I decided to check myself to find out the truth.

Bombers have fourteen 1st round selections currently playing averaging 6.2 YEARS in the AFL system

Not exactly young and inexperienced but the AFL and Media don’t have an issue with distorting facts and truth to make the Bombers look like an underdog or an over achiever instead of an under achiever. Remember that those 14 don’t include Shiel, Ridley or Merrett.

On Sunday against Carlton the Bombers fielded 10 first round national draft selctions and 1 first round rookie draft selection the average years in the AFL system for those 11 players is 6.27 years

Essendon fielded 8 top 10 picks with an average of 4.1 years in the AFL system (the ave was reduced by 3 top 10 picks from 2020)

On Sunday Carlton fielded 6 top 10 first round draft picks with an average of 4.1 years in the AFL system

Based on AFL experience and Juniour talent history the Bombers should have thrashed Carlton on Sunday but they lost.
Essendon have the most top 10 selections of any club and on sunday they played 8 top 10 selections averaging 4+ years in the system but they looked horrible and lost to a genuinely inexperienced team by comparison.

The AFL and the Media need to stop distorting facts to protect Essendon from scrutiny and criticism they are seriously under performing and based on their experience in the system and incredibly high number of top 10 picks they should be in the top 4 not the bottom 4

Some help would be great, Chapman to Frederick is an obvious trade. But unsure after that. Cripps, Gulden, Rowe, Campbell all leaking cash.

Your team is fine. Chapman to Frederick is good.

I would hold the other trade this week, and look to turning those Swans rookies into Dusty ( he should bottom out next week.)and Collier Dawkins or another Bubble rookie.

      Best of luck

        Marshall next week then.

If you have more than 22 trades I would look at swapping Cripps out with a Discount Defender like Daniel or May.
You can then swap Laird back when you sell Kosi.

        Best of luck.

    T/U Rowe > Bolton

T/D Rowe > Brayshaw (via dpp)

The first option brings some stability in my forward line, with the intention of bringing in Dusty next week when he becomes a little cheaper. However, Brayshaw’s price is very appealing and is the bye a concern if I have 2 Richmond players in the forward line?

  39. I used my DPP swing with Laird to bring in Lloyd for Gulden last week to “finish” my defense. I feel like it’s a good move to generate some cash (only $49K itb) this week to do an upgrade next week or two the week after but not sure if these moves make sense. 22 trades left.

Crisp to May, and Butts or Kosi to Frederick.

Crisp and May have basically the same output, but I’d free up $84k.
Butts and Kosi both have money to make and better JS than Frederick, but cashing out would give me a nice cash boost.

    T/U – Do it.
T/D – Save the trades for later.

We have a weekly hook-up (of clubs) and I think the good thing is the bit of demand for the teams to come out on a Thursday night – I think the AFL is looking to bring back in. The clubs were all fine with that.”

In a poll conducted by the League’s official Twitter account on Monday, more than 94 per cent of the 13,313 votes conducted suggested fans were in favour of the old model.

No clear timeline is in place for the return of the Thursday team announcements, however, an announcement is expected in coming weeks.

    • Think we need to squeeze our rookies for every last cent this season, hold. I know the appeal of a premo trade in is hard to resist, Max, but Flynn still has a BE of 4. Just needs one more decent game to get to 300k.

Frustratingly Mumford’s forced him out as the #1 ruck, so Flynn will get a game when he needs a rest. Probably in 1-2 was the timeline they discussed.

Could you sack Gulden, Chapman, etc. to finance an upgrade instead?

My other upgrade options are Powell and Jordan, but, in similar wane like you mentioned – they still have enough and more money yet to make. (Rowe to Fredrick already done via DPP).

Else, I’m thinking L McNeil to a J Hogan ? Any thoughts on how Hogan would go? – I didn’t watch the game so cant comment as such. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough money to squeeze in a Bolton if I’m to trade out McNeil.

        • Wouldn’t grab Hogan, no.

Steer clear of key position players, particularly forwards – they’re reliant on goals and can be held to some dirty scores against good opposition; eg. Tex last week. Hogan’s playing as that third tall rn.

Also, at 310k you’d be priced into him as keeper and he won’t be Top 6.

You’d be better off looking for another downgrade or just holding a trade this week

Rowe -> Frederick nets you 111k plus whatever you have ITB, you could then 1 up 1 down next week to an actual premium.

          Good luck.

  59. So I need a cheap-ish midfielder (<$525K) with a Round 14 bye, and I think I've narrowed it down to two options.

Player Thumbs Up is 31 years old and has an impressive scoring history, but suffers from weird injuries and plays for a so-so team. Definite POD at less than 5% ownership.

Player Thumbs Down is 21 years old and is a promising emerging player, but really struggles with a tag and plays for a battling team. A bit more popular than PTU, but still a reasonably unique option.

The two are averaging similar numbers in their past three games. Who would you go for?

Players in the mix to trade out: Ryan, Chapman, Gulden Rowe, Cripps
Players in the mix to trade in: Frederick, J Macrae, Oliver, Petracca, Walsh McCluggage.

BUT will we know Grundy’s score before Max takes the field 2hrs and 50 minutes later. If so, how long can you expect to have to make a captaincy loophole decision on these 2? What if a quarter or 2 goes for 32+ mins like they have a few times this year?

On the other hand, to finish off my defence I’d prefer to bring in Ridley and Lloyd, as such, May doesn’t quite fit in. However, I’ll have 100k in the kitty which can be used next week to bring in Dusty or Ridley.

    • Yes and no.

If I can bring in May or Daniel this week and they average 100, then I get 1500 points from them for the year. Assuming Whitfield averages 110 and plays out the season (which is also fairly risky, in my opinion) gets me 1650 for the year.

Whitfield would be a no brainer if they were evenly priced. But that $150k that I save from going May or Daniel gives me 2/3 of an upgrade – that will net me at least 10 points a week, likely more.

  89. Have plenty of cash in bank
could go with one of these: (please comment)

    1. Bolton and May for Rowe and Chapman

2 Frederick (PA) and Oliver/Walsh for Chapman and Gulden

3 Frederick and May for Rowe and Chapman

Which Option is better and why

    • I like Hall, I would have picked him up this week but I had more pressing matters to attend to. I’m worried Shai will eventually have to change his role and spend more time in the forward line when all the Richmond mids come back.

  90. Don’t know what to do this week, as i have multiple rookies bleeding cash and an underperforming Crippa who’s been disappointing this season.
Would really appreciate some advice on what to do this week.
23 trades left, $160,900 ITB, Trades last week were Neale and Dunkley > Macrae and Impey

DEF: Stewart, Lloyd, Laird. Short, Clark, Kosi (L.Jones, Highmore)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, ZMerrett, Titch, Crippa, Powell, Gulden, Jordon (Berry, Brockman, Downie)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Flynn)
FWD: Ziebell, Impey, Warner, Campbell, Rowe, A.Scott (Waterman, Treacy)

    Cheers!!

    • Hi JJ,

the only issue I can see with po’s suggestion above is that if Campbell is not picked you are munching a Fwd donut. Clarke to May (or Daniel) is a no brainer but if Campbell is out (and Brockman too), perhaps trade Flynn out, DPP Treacy into the ruck and Thilthorpe into the forward line. Gives you ruck coverage too although not cheap coverage & avoids the zero if Campbell (and Brockman) do not play. Flynn is supposed to be our ruck cover but he has played once in the last 5 weeks ! No need to get RCD this week IMO and your side is stronger with May in than a non playing non premo in Clarke. One down one up potentially (again) next week. Good luck

      • Thanks Hass, Is it worth getting May in, I had traded him in round 2 then had to trade him rd 5 due to his eye injury which was supposed to have him out for a longer time.

        • JJ,

I wouldn’t worry about the past, just make the best move for your side this week and if that is May at his price regardless of what you did in r5 then do it. I traded Daniel when he was rubbed out to avoid a zero (to Jones a week early and that went well too). Traded in Luke Ryan 2 weeks ago too. Perhaps don’t listen to me haha !! Although seriously, I would happily trade in May or Daniel again at their prices. It is up to you but there are plenty of choices but the extra $100k in the bank has to help, good luck

    • Hey, JJ.

Wouldn’t be too glib, you’ve got a very solid team with 23 trades and a solid bank. You’re nicely positioned.

Gotta cover Clark and Campbell donuts, so the play for you could be:

      Campbell -> FWD rookie
      Clark -> 550k~ DEF premo

Have a sus of the FWD rookies and which DEF premo you like, then go for it.

      Best of luck.

      • Thanks GB what FWD rookies would you recommend getting?
In regards to a DEF Premo I’m really liking either Salem, Mills or Ridley. What are thoughts on them? Is there any others I should have a look at?

        • No FWD rookies on the bubble this week, so you’d have to roll the dice on Owis (CARL) or Poulter (COLL) assuming both are named.

As for a 550k DEF, check your bye structure first. See where/where not you can add another player.

Ridley’s got a 204 BE, so wait a week on him. Otherwise Salem could be a deadly POD, Mills is solid or even Bowes is averaging 105 and could save you some coin.

All great options. I’m grabbing Bowes this week and Ridley the next, but Mills and Salem are both high ceiling PODs. If you don’t mind spending a little extra and they work for your bye structure, grab one of them.

Honestly up to you, no bad options there.

    • Same problem we’re all experiencing – too many rookies on field.
Clark and Campbell obviously are priorities.
Maybe Campbell to Owies and Clark to Ridley, May, Daniel.
Not much of a choice with forward rookies but at least you avoid a donut.

  93. What’s Collier-Dawkins’ JS going forward? Lambert and Prestia are another couple weeks away and Cotchin will be back in another 4-5 weeks. Might only get get 1 or 2 price rises out of him.

With this in mind is it still worth picking him up, especially for those going early on him this week?

    TU: Yes
    TD: No

  94. Def: Stewart, Rich, Daniel, Short, Laird, Kosi (Highmore, Briggs)
Mid: Macrae, Merrett, Oliver, Walsh, Steele, Powell, Jordan, Scott (Downie, Brockman, Bruhn)
    Ruc: Gawndy (Flynn)
Fwd: Ziebell, Martin, Warner, Robertson, Rowe, McCreary (Fullarton, Waterman)

    $155k itb, 22 trades

Was gonna do Warner, Rowe > Frederick, Guthrie
But freddies out so what do I do?? Get Murphy instead of Freddy?

    • Wouldn’t be cashing out on Warner, keep him on field for as long as possible.

On Murphy, don’t really have a read on him but a little apprehensive bringing in a Pies’ DEF rookie with Howe 1 week away and Moore to be swung back.

Doesn’t get you a premo this week, but you could go:

Rowe -> RCD (via Scott DPP)

Gets Rowe off your field and gives a you a 266k to make some moves next week.

Not a sexy a move as bringing in Guthrie, but a solid trade long term.

  95. Ok so with a combination of the Frederick news and that Preuss might take over at GWS soon I’m considering an early cull on Flynn

TU: Chapman & Flynn out for N Murray & J Bowes (saves my round 14 bye a bit)
TD: Chapman & Rowe out for N Murray (or N Murphy) & S May (and kill the round 14 bye with 9 premos out)

  96. Need to go early on of these FWD rookies to bring in a Premo DEF. Who do we think has better JS:
    TU- Poulter
    TD – Owies

  97. Gulden for May? (DPP)

Only concern is that gulden will pump out a 120 in the next couple of weeks and I’ll miss out on some coin

  98. What are peoples thoughts on Flynn GWS.
Do we hold for the extra cash generation and rd 14 bye?
Or do we trade to Treacy and use the cash to upgrade Campbell or Rowe?

Lots of uncertainties with the Mummy situation.
