  1. Is it time to jump on Izak Rankine?
    Currently fwd line set up:
(Sheezel, Trac, Pickett, JHF & Flanders)

    Things to consider:
    Team high CBA’s
    Does the role stick?
Would be 4 premium fwds out on same bye

If someone like Merrett gets DPP fwd, the plan would be to flick Flanders to them during the byes.

    TU: Go for it
    TD: Look elsewhere

    • Looking ahead, the crows have North, Hawks & Geelong in the next 3 games. I think he could be tagged in at least 2 of them which is making me hesitant.

    • it does seem now or never.

plenty of teams already have him and if he does what he just did (it was Richmond) it will be a tough watch

my problem is his r12 bye, i already have 5 premiums on that bye, 6 might be too much, maybe

      • Solid price, great bye round and the floor has still been very good. The upside is still there with Ash if it can click. He went behind the ball late in the game on the weekend and had an impact, I think they will utilise him wherever he can get his hands on it. Eagles this week also makes it more attractive.

        • there seems to be a whole bunch of players who could, maybe, possible be in the top 6 defenders. I think Sinclair, Whitfield, Roberts and Nas look good to be top 6. Holmes is half a chance to get DPP.

Then there is a whole bunch from Zorko, Sicily, Dale, Clark, Parker, Lizard, Wilkie, Noble, Daicos, houston, Mills, Amon, Milera. On their day they can average 105, but more likley to average between 95-100. I think Ash sits in that bunch, and not really a must have. At $512k he is at the top of that bunch for price (Sinclair is $20k more).

For me its a must to get the big dogs and the remaining 2 spots can be filled with the best avaliable at the time you need them, based on match ups for the run home and the byes.

      • There are just seems that they have 1 of the following…AFL quality, job security, DPP, good role for points scoring, good injury background lol. Ideally at least a few of the above would be nice. I’m tempted to trade myself in as a rookie option…I haven’t played a full season since 2007, I have chronic back problems and a torn quad and nerve damage in my left leg, no natural talent whatsoever…oh yeah, not being AFL listed may not be ideal either. Still thinking about doing it, I’ll just play against cardboard cutouts (and still score -50 at best)

    • I actually think he’s a terrible option – plays the same role as Higgins who will probably return from concussion protocols this weeks, and Dan Butler who will return from a hamstring injury next week.

Having said that, the rookie well is dry and if he plays this week I will probably pick him up lol

I wonder if Sid Draper will ever get a game. With DPP he’d be handy post byes if he did

      • Who’s playing on the wing for Saints?
Henry played wing at Freo and has played there previously for the Saints.
Ross loves him so maybe he’s best 22 and O’Connell and Byrnes are more likely to drop out.

          • Think NAS being out for 3 weeks will help the job security of Liam Henry for the next few weeks at least

Even if Higgins comes back in this week

Dan Butler still listed as 2 to 3 weeks away, and even then would probably need a run in the VFL (after being out a fair few weeks)

  3. Is it crazy to trade Cook, Pou and Lindsay -> Callaghan, McCluggage and Derksen? Ideally I would want trade in a playing rookie but I can’t afford it if I want Callaghan and McCluggage. This leaves me with 4 rookies on field

  4. Have Lindsay & Carroll at D5 & D6 who are pretty much ready to cash in before they start losing cash.

The problem is, not really any defender rookies options that I love with solid JS. This may force me to go up and grab a premium.

Don’t love paying up but there are 2 that I’m missing that look to be top of the line.

Looking at his upcoming fixtures as a non owner makes me think it could get pretty ugly. He has D1 potential in this filthy role.

Will grab Clugg the following week as I suspect he will cop the Mullin tag this week.

Not sure if he is 100% fit.

Don’t trust Zorko’s body and I’m almost sure he will get a rest later in the year.

Roberts price isn’t ideal, although he has Richmond & Westcoast in the next 3. Don’t see him coming down in price necessarily and I need a premium defender now.

Would almost rather pay up for Roberts now and take a punt on someone if needed around that 450k mark as my last upgrade if I am struggling for cash. Wilkie for example will be at a really good price soon and I have much more faith in him over someone like Zorko.

But apart from Petracca & Sheezel, all the forwards this year are a bit “up & down” with their scoring

And Flanders is still the 12th highest averaging forward, and he just scored 120 points on the weekend

He is an easy hold, and continue to upgrade the rookies IMO

  15. Carroll and Steene out. After weeks of watching finally it’s McCluggage time and at this stage Cox is the rookie but I have low expectations. Just think Henry gets squeezed out by Higgins and Butler.

With Grundy’s 96, I may hold McAndrew till his bye now which gives Grundy a couple of weeks to decrease in price to bring him in for Richmond.

Next week I’m hoping Moniz-Wakefield is viable for Lindsay (currently at D7 so a waste) and Pou for Callaghan. But plans change very quickly!

Joyce has been around for a long time, and really is a back-up otion when they have an injury. I think it was Gallop who had concession that gave him a game, he is cheap.

Henry will probably be the first out when Higgins and Butler are back, he is more expensive.

Better still who is the best value that allows me to make my team better.

The question then remains, is it worth paying up for Roberts? 597k for a defender could backfire. I am personally weighing up him against NAS this week.

        • The main difference for me is coming off a calf injury at the age of 37. Given Brisbane have Coleman fit and firing this year too, they can afford to give him a week off easily if they wanted.

Take away the possibility of him being rested, the soft tissue and age factor is enough to put me off the pick.

do you have a boost left?

your problem this week is not much cash, meaning if you trade out Farrow and Jaques (if not named) you only have $570k to spend on a rookie and a keeper. Even trading Blamires instead of Jaques will only give you $600k.

You might have to look at selling Durrsma and either Farrow or Jaques, give you the cash to get a big dog.

  30. It’s only Monday, but i think the best upgrade this week is McCluggage at $474k. Thats $172k less than his starting price. i still think last year he way over-achieved, but i’m more than happy to see what he can do for the rest of the season.

Most of last year he averaged 105-110 minutes a game. so far this season it has been mid-80, but last week it was a season high 97 mins and that resulted in his first 110+ score for the season.

I can see his TOG increasing and many more 110+ scores coming.

I was tossing up between Sinclair in defense, Rankine in the forwards and either Anderson or McCluggage in the midfield. In the end it is the bye rounds that makes the decision easy, i am already overweight in round 12 and 16 byes, and zero premiums in round 15.

Bruhn makes way for McCluggage, i would have liked to hold as i think his scoring is good, but i have no DPP in the guts and no other rookies that can be culled.

Steene to Henry is probably my other trade to get the cash.

    it is only Monday.

    • I agree about McCluggage and for me it’s between him and Callaghan for this week. I’m leaning Callaghan since he has WCE this week and McCluggage may get the Mullin tag. Ideally want both by next week anyways

McCluggage with a BE of 77, a projection of 89 sees an increase in price of $5,400, so there’s something to be said he can wait a week?

I’ve had Daicos since the start and he has been frustrating to own. High possessions but mostly uncontested and Houston’s emergence has reduced his output a bit. Would avoid

    TU – Touk Miller
    TD – Izak Rankine

Miller in theory should be the more consistent scorer & is known for strong finishes to seasons but has a change in role to the high half forward.

Rankine more inconsistent even when given full time mid, has the ceiling to go 120+ however. Role will be a constant watch with him.

I really wanted to be able to Trade Bruhn, Lindsay and Carroll for Ash, Mcluggage and a downgrade in defense. I cant make that happen, id have to choose between getting Mcluggage or Ash – The only way I can do it is by trading Carroll, Blamires and Walsh to Ash, Mcluggage and Joyce/Derksen – Keeping Bruhn for now.

Would that be dumb? Am I better off just doing – Blamires and Carroll out, Ash and Derksen in and keeping Bruhn for now and waiting on Clug?

Whitfield averages 6.1 points per game more than Ash. Correct.

Whitfield is $68,000 more expensive than Ash, currently. Correct.

Over 14 remaining rounds, at this rate Whitfield scores only 85 points more than Ash, so you may as well save a buck or two and go Ash. Correct? Is it a question of ceilings? Roles?
