  1. Would trade him in for JHF this week but still has money to loose thoughts on best JHF trade

  3. Probably just Hewett to Simpson this week, barring injury news. Feel like there’s a lot of huge price fluctuations with premos right now and a few look ripe for picking in a few weeks. With only 3 rookies left on field and 22 trades left, I’m in no rush, will bide my time until the prices are right.

  4. In: S Bolton, J Dawson, C Simpson
    Out: J Horne-Francis, E Hewett, L Trainor
    T/U or T/D

Love the Dawson easy C this week, will monster WC at home. 4 of his last 6 are at Adelaide Oval where we know he scores well, the two away trips during that period are to play WC and NM. I tend to value SC scoring potential during the finals rounds highly when picking a premo, so that is my reasoning for the Dawson pick.

    OUT – JHF, Langford, Hewett

    IN – S. Bolton, C. Simpson, ?

Have 625k ITB for last trade

    TU – Visentini

TD – Any premo under 625k

      Love that for you.

The normative move will be to hold JHF but if you’re flush with trades and highly ranked, I reckon go for it.

      Good luck.

T/u – Trade Kako out but can only afford a 520k player (probably Heeney)

T/d – Trade Lindsay out early so I can get up to a 580k player (Dunkley, Green, Anderson, Sinclair type)

otherwise Simpson and Binns will scrape in assuming they are named to play this week. Simpson would be a lock for D/F if so, not quite as sure about Binns

Then upgrading Hewett, but who to? Libba is my first choice but I have too many with the first bye. My choices ATM are:

    T/U: Sinclair
    T/D: Rowell + 100k

    • Shai Bolton is priced at 429.7k with a BE of -24. If he averages 100, which he has been doing this season aside from his one shocker score, he’ll be 500k in two weeks.

It’s obviously risk as he has burned owners once this season, but the rest of his form is sparkling, and will likely make as much cash as someone like an Archer Day-Wicks in the short term, with genuine Top 6 forward upside. Worth a roll of the dice for me this week.

  11. The team has completely plateaued. It feels like every week I’m failing the rookie roulette and fielding a 50. My strategy is therefore to get these rookies off field. I can’t upgrade this week I already have Simpson.

I’m currently thinking Cleary and E. Hewett for Phillipou and Coleman. I know Pou scored badly this week but surely that’s a blip considering saints played badly and he stuffed his finger resulting in time on the bench.

This ultimately leaves me with Lindsay, Reid and Levi being my remaining pure rookies on field with 19 trades left.

    TU – go for it!

    • Plays the same position as Docherty who had another billion possessions in the twos last weekend. And Carlton lost, which makes changes more likely. Has the lousy Rd 12 bye also.

I like Binns, he has worked really hard for this opportunity. But at this price, that’s a lot of risk to be taking on. See if he’s named this week and you’re not overloaded on the Rd 12 bye.

T/U C Cleary and E Tsatas/C Hall to Bolton and Simpson
T/D L Ashcroft and E Tsatas/C Hall to Premo under 590k and Simpson

Keep in mind I already have 6 forward premos (Smith, Rankine, JHF, Warner, Macrae, Maric) but Bolton could be a M9 or F8 or he or maric could later be upgraded to a midfield uber premo.

  16. With no urgent upgrades, is it worth using funds to go Leake -> Coleman? Get rid of a dead rookie for a player who could average ~80 and go up in price. Leaves me with 20 trades and Reid/Coleman/Lindsay as my only on-field “rookies” to upgrade.

TU – do it, Leake is dead and Coleman could be a good bridge to post-bye full premo

    • Would normally vote up to this

But Callaghan will probably be out of the GWS midfield this week, and McMullin also probably out with a groin strain

And Leake had 39 possessions & 6 tackles in the two’s on the weekend

Not sure if Coniglio gets up this week, but Kelly & Daniels still out for a few more weeks – so Leake may get another run this week

Mid/fwd @ $113k on the bubble could be useful coming into byes, particularly when his own bye isnt until rd 16.

Obviously would need to wait on teams announcements but food for thought.

  22. It’s only Monday night and this might be controversial, but I think I’m going to hold both JHF and Macrae.
It will hurt this week, but after that it’s best 18 for the next month and much easier to hide injured players on the bench, especially round 13 with only two teams on the bye. I’m also predicting that Boxshall will come in for however long Macrae is out, so there’s cover there.
If you’re in the running for overall then this is not a good strategy! But anyone playing for leagues only, I think this has merit.

    • I think we wait to see with Macrae but JHF has to go. 4 weeks of not getting that score is unhelpful and with the 22 his price will drop anyway so can potentially grab him as an M9/F7 in 6 weeks. Best 18 lets us cover the bye players being out but with rookies being incredibly inconsistent and other players missing because of their own byes, it gets really hard to hold an injured player on top of that

    • Yeah I think you’ve nailed that Chillo!

Completely different strategies from this point on for coaches playing for overall and league.

Not sure how long Macrae out for, but with JHF out for 4 he’s a trade for those overall players and most likely a hold for league players.

      • I’ve got JHF, Callaghan and Macrae as well.

Was thinking I could hold JHF and Macrae, only because there are very few other options ( I did just trade Daniel out last week). So a trade out now, will most likely mean another trade back in. I could maybe hold for 3 weeks if 1 week was a bye, but 4 is starting to hurt.

Callaghan will go. He isn’t a keeper, although I just got him a few weeks ago when Oliver was out. Plenty of good options to go to.

My thoughts are hold JHF and Macrae. But to trade two rookies (Hewitt and Cleary) to Simpson and Bolton. This should give me some coverage and allow to hold them. Plus will generate some nice cash.

Callaghan to either Green or Clark

        Reply
      • Yeah that’s fair enough. In that case I think Callaghan definitely has to go, given his mid-only status and that he’s the least likely to be a top player on his line. Then you can decide what to do with JHF and Macrae after that – and there is no “correct” answer, it all depends on your situation with trades remaining and rank.

    • i don’t mind the big Dog Bont. He was in my preaseson team, was willing to pay $680k for him back then, why not now.

Moore is super cheap, for a reason. I actually thought he would get a bump with Nash and Mackensie out with more midfield time, it only happened for half a game and that was it.

Serong hasn’t been going aweful, has been managing 100 most weeks (2 worst scores are 99 and 80). At his price of $529k, even if he averges 106.2 for the rest of the year, that isn’t horrible at all. has the potential to be a top 8 midfield.

Bolton at his price is attractive. Spike scores are what we are looking for over the bye rounds. he has a nice bye round, so good coverage. Very low BE, so he might even be a nice step to Bont/Butter in 5 weeks.

  41. Port Adelaide star Jason Horne-Francis says he could only miss the one game with his hamstring injury.

The former No. 1 draft pick suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Power’s heavy loss to Geelong on Saturday.

While he has been listed as four weeks on the Power’s injury report, Horne-Francis could just miss the one game against Fremantle this week.

The Power have its bye after this week and Horne-Francis was actually doing some light running at training on Wednesday.

It has raised hope he could be back for the clash against GWS in just over two weeks time.

“It’s better than first thought,” he said on Triple M on Wednesday.

“I’ve got a lot of strength in it… and moving around very well.

    • Adams is an injury waiting to happen

NOD is awkward price. could make another $90k but you spend another trade to get rid of him

    • Martin i think can be a keeper, and will be a very handy DPP swinger with Stone/paton if you have them. He also has the last round bye, handy.

Bolton is a cash generation move for two weeks. Bolton has his bye in r13, so he could easy make $70k and be $500k going into his bye and you jump on Butters/Bont coming off their bye. i like the Bolton play but only if you are downgrading a couple of rookies to get him, not a sideways move.

    • depends who are you replacing him with. if you are missing a Warner or Petracca etc, you can definately anti-pod Macrae. But if you have all them and you will be bringing in someone who you will just have to trade again later in year, i would hold.

    • If you are playing for league, you can hold Macrae almost till the last game on Sunday and trade to a Trac/Anderson/Touk type if necessary. If your match up is going well, you could hold him through his R13 bye.

  43. If I park Macrae & JHF on my bench, and use my playing rookies, I will have 7 rookies on field this week. Not enough money to replace 2 rookies with anybody over 500K. So do I –
TU : No trades, play with the 7 rookies and pray
TD : Trade out Kako & Hewett, trade in Sims (already have Simpson) and Bolton – will then have 6 rookies on field. Not sure its worth 2 trades though?
Alternatively, may trade JHF for a premo.

  44. Went TDK, Bice, & Kako to Marshall, Sinclair, & El-Hawli last week
Def – Sheezel, Sinclair, Dale, Holmes. Roberts, Reid (J.Short, Trainor)
Mid – Neale, Trac, Warner, Rozee, W.Ashcroft, L Ashcroft, Lindsey, El-Hawli (Knevitt, C.Hall, Huswaite)
    Ruc – Xerri, Marshall (Boyd)
Fwd – Smith, Rankine, Macrae, JHF, Daniel, E.Hewett (C.Cleary, Stone)
    Flex – Flynn

    $43,400 ITB, 27 trades left, 3 boosts

I’m a little stuck on what to do this week, especially with all the carnage.

But I’m considering going Short & Hewett to Simpson & Bolton. ($200,900 ITB)
Although any help/advice/feedback would be appreciated

  45. Not having a great season after starting well – every 50/50 has gone wrong. This is probably a bit of a hail mary now.

Carrying a few dead rookies so hanging on to Macrae means fielding someone like Kako. Feels too sideways but it does rejig the team a bit.

Would leave 5 rookies on the field (ashcroft, spp, reid, prior, lindsay)

This will leave 22 trades and 3 boosts before this move.

IN: L.Jackson (fwd but can swing in for injuries), J.Sinclair (took NWM last week instead) and Simpson
    OUT: Macrae, Callaghan, C.Hall

    TU: YES
    TD: NO

  46. I really don’t know which of these is the better trade option at this point:

JHF, Macrae and Hewett > Rankine, Jackson and Simpson
JHF, Ashcroft and Hewett > Rankine, Anderson and Simpson
JHF, Hewett and Kako > Rankine, Simpson and Day-Wicks
JHF and Hewett > Rankine and Simpson

I don’t really want to waste a trade to bring one of Macrae of JHF back in when they return, I think Ashcroft is every chance of beating his current BE (scored above 86 four times so far), Day-Wicks doesn’t seem like the best scoring rookie (but is the only other cheap rookie on the bubble), and making just the two trades seems too little with what’s happened this week.

    • I don’t think boosting Kako to Day wicks is the move, particularly not if you’re thinking you just need to force a trade cause there’s carnage this week so I’d go with the bottom one. Or you can go top and Macrae to Jackson if you feel like you have to do a third trade

    • Just to simplify this a bit, the first two trades are locked in and the options for the boost are:

      Macrae to Jackson
      Ashcroft to Anderson
      Kako to Day-Wicks
      no boost

I think you can cross off Day-Wicks straight away, his JS and scoring are both poor and this is just a cheap floating donut waiting to happen.
There’s also uncertainty with Jackson’s role – lone ruck very good, dual ruck very bad! If Darcy is named this week, I think this is a no-go also.
Ashcroft to Anderson looks solid but is by no means a must do. It depends on how the rest of your team looks as to whether you really need to make this trade this week.

      • So the only third option that looks decent enough is Ashcroft to Anderson. Do you personally think that’s worth a boost? I’ve still got three left to use.

This is what my midfield currently looks like:
Hewett, Merrett, Neale, Serong, Rozee, Cerra, Ashcroft and Lindsay (El-Hawli, Hustwaite, Boxshall)

  47. Callaghan, Cleary, Hewitt > Green, Martin, Simpson.

Playing for leagues and don’t have the trades to be doing too many sideways so planning to hold macrae and JHF by just limping to the byes and pushing on with my upgrade strategy short term pain for long term gain (hopefully). Fielding lalor and simpson/hall until they return.

    Tu or Td

  48. Keidean Coleman apparently pulled up a bit sore from his first game back. To be monitored if you were planning on bringing him in this weekend, possible sub or management risk

  49. Trying to spread the Bye impact, very light on both round 13 and 14 premo wise. Was thinking Nandos was an easy in but 4 weeks of potential tags and career low averages is deterring me.

    T/U Serong

    T/D Clark

also wondering if Simpson at half back will have any effect on Clark scoring

  50. Planning on holding JHF + Macrae, but want to compensate for that by being aggressive with continuing to upgrade rookies and not be stuck in 6/7 rookies on field the next couple weeks.

Hewett, Tsatas, Lindsay -> Simpson, Boxshall (assuming he’s named, could reverse), Anderson

Anderson could be Dawson or another similar priced premo. Only worry about Anderson is the tag risk over the next few weeks? Or is that not a concern?

  51. Im currently ranked 6500. With 100% of the top 1% owning Macrae, I’m starting to fall in love with the idea of trading out JHF and Macrae.
TU – Macrae and JHF -> Green and Bolton
TD – JHF and E. Hewett -> Green and Sims

  52. 21 trades and 3 boosts left and a few non-cash generating rookies to get rid of:

T/U – L Ashcroft and Tsatas out for Bolton and Simpson
T/D – Trainor, L Ashcroft and Tsatas out for Simpson, Boxshall (if named) and Jackson which leaves me with one boost. I can move the magnets around via DPP to get this to work.

    Cheers

    • You need to cashout an Uber and a skeleton to get 2 reliable 90 – 100pts. Bolton is 1 if you still have a boost maybe also swap another skeleton for coop.
Or you could burn JHF, chunky thighs with fragile hammys not a quick return and macrae plus a skeleton

  54. Trade a dead rookie (C Hall or Hustwaite) to Boxshall for cash generation with Simpson already traded in, 25 trades left. Hoping he keeps his spot and doesn’t start as sub.

    TU: Waste of trade
    TD: Do it
