  1. I think I may have finally got lucky. I had most of the top rookies and still 200k in the bank. Lost Gulden which I turned into Bont, Young’s injury annoyed me so went early on Murdoch and then used my boost on Coleman to Houston since they were sharing the same bye anyway.
Now got Petracca and Rozee to deal with but depending on timeframes I might actually keep them because I’ve got cover everywhere for the bye rounds and still 160k in the bank.

  5. Didn’t use a trade yet.

Looking to do a Rookie correction- Lombard to Murdoch.

Also need to deal with Rozie & Petracca – thinking Worrell in defence. Not seeing a heap of defensive options (not trusting Houston).
Probably leaning towards to Josh Treacy in the forward line.

Not sure if I’m chasing points to much. I think Treacy could be top 6 forward.

    Appreciate some feedback

Jumped early on Murdock (after some shocking 19-23’s) so Sharp can stay for now.

I’d bring Bont or English but the Byes… I don’t wanna pull in Ash for one week before donut either.

It might just be 1 trade for me.

I am really tempted to bring back in Duff-Tytler after his free Round 0 trade out. But I’ll do more research before the knee jerk reaction.

  7. With some DPP swings I can do:

Out: Petracca + Rozee + Sharp
In: Xerri + Houston + Cook

Adding Xerri means I’ll have Jackson, English, Xerri as R1/R2/Flex and pushes McAndrew to R3.

Worried another massive Xerri score is going to make him unattainable. Is it worth bringing him in and running 3 premo rucks?

TU: do it – need Xerri
TD: don’t run 3 rucks, trade in a premo mid

  9. Already have English & Jackson.
Plan is to bring in Xerri for Petracca through Kalani White (dpp). There are no premium forwards I want and I feel like a lot of us (including myself) may have over reacted with these ruck rules effecting Xerri.
Still some very nice fixtures to come and will be well over 700k soon.

Will mean McAndrew will become my R3 from next week onwards, will be used to cover English on the bye this coming week.
Long term hoping Jackson gets DPP from round 6 onwards but otherwise don’t see a reason not to run 3 rucks as they all seem to be scoring great.

  11. Am I crazy by doing this …

Out: Trac, Rozee and Sharp to Ash (could be anyone in Def really), Jackson and Murdoch.

I already have Xerri, English and McAndrew (Flex). This would mean I swing White forward, put McAndrew at R3 (covers English this week), which allows me Jackson at Flex.

  12. So I’m targeting my league spot rather than overall ranking, and I’m trying something different. I counted on the byes not to force me to rely on early commitments to super expensive premos and instead target solid, easy to hold value forward premos like Petracca, all the good cash cows, top-tier rucks and some fairly reliable mid-pricers. It’s probably stupid, but it’s fun.

Anyway, its been a good start, because as I expected the byes did wonders for me. I got 1,907 and topped my league with 850k itb. I’ve also avoided some misfires, have some good targets when they get cheaper and am looking to more confidently get in the premos that have shown some good early form for failed cash cows and mid-pricers.

So at the moment though I have a conundrum. I have to finish cleaning up my early bets that didn’t pay off, as McKerch, Pickett and T. Mccarthy are set to lose like 70k and I can move them on with the cash itb. However, I also have petracca, rozee and sharp.

For my specific league strategy, should i focus on avoiding cash losses and prioritise getting rid of McKercher, Pickett and McCarthy or should I fix up my injuries?

Getting Merrett, Houston and Murdock for ->

    T/U Petracca, Rozee and Sharp
    T/D Mckercher, Pickett and McCarthy

Comment if you think I should wait it out with McCarthy or should target someone other than the above to bring in this week.

      • I agree with this. There’s no real reason to get rid of Sharp over any of the guys that will actually lose cash. Rozee has to go but then pick 2 of Trac, McKercher, Pickett and McCarthy to go. I think Pickett is the most likely to have a spike game so I’d keep him and I think McKercher is just working back into the game seeing as he missed preseason so I’m personally holding him but it’s really your call

  13. Is bringing in both Worrell and Houston for Rooze and Trac too risky? I’m considering it as a value play, will be a success imo if just one of them finishes top 6 DEF and the other makes a bit of cash and scores reasonably for a sideways later in the season.

The main downside is it would leave me with bulk cash ITB (think 300-400k) for a week or two as I moved Young -> Murdock last week, but I think this is less painful in the bye rounds.

My thinking is the saved cash will really help unlock Bont, NWM and second RUC premo quickly after the byes.

TU: Go on Worrell and Houston and bank the cash
TD: Stump up for Xerri / Jackson / Gawn now

  19. Am I crazy for trading out Grundy to bring in Xerri? It avoids a zero in my rucks this week and Xerri is playing Essendon (Blakiston) where he could score 150 and offer a good VC/C option. After this round Xerri could average 5-10pts more per round?

I would deal with Petracca next week and see if one of the forwards excites me.

If I go Watkins instead of Worrell, it will mean having significant cash itb (500-600k or so) and bringing in Worrell next week (likely a Lindsay upgrade).

Tempted to turf TDK for Xerri or Gawn but looking at his score on Sat he got 90 in DT and 45 in SC largely because of DE%/clangers, it was a wet game so wondering if I should give him another go without burning a trade (especially with so many other issues in my team – TRac/Rozee/Blakiston/Parish)

  46. As a Xerri and English owner and long-time believer in rucks (despite rule changes), I’m using this week to further go against the grain and bring in a third premium ruck. Risky, but I’m keen to keep gambling that the rucks will outscore expectations.

Rozee, Petracca, Edwards -> Gawn, Duursma, Cook, $302k itb

Most controversial take is that I’m fading Watkins for Duursma.

This may come back to bite me, but I believe in Duursma’s role and cash making abilities over Watkins. With a BE of -49, if Duursma scores just 56s (he’s averaging 83) he will make $70k over the next two weeks… or considerably more if he keeps up his average. He’s locked in the West Coast team, so could easily see him hitting $400k, which is an easy premo upgrade.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m scared of fading Watkins and his cash gen, but I prefer Duursma as a safe money maker. The issue with $99k players is that you can only capture the first $20k of their cash gen if another $99k rookie pops up in their postion; otherwise you’re going to a $119k rookie and losing $20k. That said, I do appreciate that Watkins could still make $100k over the next 2 weeks (of which you can pocket at least $80k), but I think Duursma probably makes as much, and is a much stronger on-field scorer and far lower risk of being dropped.

    Am I an idiot?

I have Jackson and English with McAndrew at flex and am bringing in Xerri this week. That will cover English this week and I can put McAndrew as emergency next week, until one of the other rucks gets DPP(hopefully).

I’m also going Cook over Watkins mainly due to DPP status.

Duursma probably the better scoring option with at least some money making potential.

Probably equally as unlikely that Watkins kicks a goal, and has two fewer players to contend with in the rotation (he had 10 of his 23 touches and a goal with Bergman and Rozee off the pitch).

Although in saying that – Bergman not playing this week does drastically improve his chances of CBAs.

Think I could go either way on this one, but can’t have them all so I’ll stick with my gut.

  47. decided to trade tdk for Xerri and will move on Trac for Cook. With Rozee im tossing up with following:

T/U Houston looks like good value but still not sure how he will be when moore/howe are back
T/D Watkins to ensure I have all the best bubble boys but not sure about his JS

  48. Last week’s trades were Gulden & Young to Petracca & Fonti
Current team before trades this week:
Def – Sinclair, Rozee, McCarthy, Windsor, Jaques, Serong (Lindsay, Sellwood)
Mid – Bont, Butters, Daicos, Petracca, Parish, Bruhn, Smith, Blamires (Grji, Carroll, Sharp)
    Ruc – Jackson, English (McAndrew)
Fwd – Sheezel, Flanders, Budarick, Phillipou, Marshall, Robertson (Dovaston, Lombard)
    Flex – Fonti
    $225,600 ITB (5 Boosts)

    Thinking of using a boost:
Rozee, Petracca & Sharp → Houston, Holmes & Cook ($323,500 ITB)

Feeling pretty lost this week with all the carnage. Any thoughts or better trade ideas would be appreciated.

  49. What was the Watkins role before the Rozee injury? Does Wines in and Rozee out mean net neutral for his role or do we expect a shift?
