Game Chat – Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Written by Thommo on July 24 2021

Where and When: Marvel, Saturday 24th July at 7:40pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 6 2021: Hawthorn 15.12 (102) def Adelaide 16.3 (99) in Launceston

Last 5 H2H: Hawthorn 4 – Adelaide 1

Thommo Watch:

Hawthorn: Tom Mitchell has returned to his best Supercoach form and looks a decent Captaincy option every week. Lachie Bramble has saved many a coach as bench cover as he has outscored some on-field premiums the last two weeks.

Adelaide: Laird is probably the only Crow worth owning at this stage of the season.

Match Preview: The Hawks are the beneficiary of the South Australian border closure, receiving a second home game against the Crows. After a fast start to the season, the Crows have struggled since and probably needed home ground advantage to win this one. The Hawks remain inconsistent but have enjoyed an improvement in form in recent weeks, pushing the Dees to a draw last week.

Unless the Crows find another gear or the Hawks are distracted by the ridiculous coaching saga, Hawthorn should have the form to defeat the Crows for a second time in 2021.

Thommo’s Tip:  Hawthorn by 30 points. (Tipping record: 29.5/52)

  1. Hawthorn needs to offload Wingard. He offers little to the team and is given a game without earning it.
