Game Chat – Saturday Arvo, R14

Written by MJ on June 21 2014

Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs – The Dogs are fresh off an impressive win against the Pies. Tough to see them pulling off a similar feat over at Adelaide Oval though. Chad Wingard’s been the 5th most traded in player this week and coaches will be counting on him to impress first up.

Port by 24.

Hawthorn v Collingwood – Touted as match of the round. The Hawks have a very impressive record against the Pies and are odds on to continue that here.

Hawks by 10.

Gold Coast v Geelong – The Suns have now lost their last three games, but are never to be underestimated at Metricon Stadium. The last time Geelong traveled up the coastline they were belted by 110 points at the hands of Sydney. Can see Gary Ablett leading Gold Coast to a season defining victory here.

Suns by 8.

  1. Wanting to take Miles score but facing a hard decision on who to bench out of Priddis, Joelwood or Rockliff. Based on current form I would probably keep Priddis on field, Joelwood played forward last week and was lucky to scrap over the 100 point line and Rockliff was terrible last week and will most likely get the Crowley tag.

    TU: Bench Rockliff
    TD: Bench Joelwood
Comment for Priddis, Beams, Pendles, Ablett or Libba.

    Thanks All

  2. After Langdon’s mistakes last week v Dogs will be looking at the reaction by coach & player. Currently have him as D6 waiting for Simpson & / or S.Mitchell to come down in price (at which time Langdon to be D7 / M9).
Hoping Langdon is not a late out or start as sub. If Langdon named as sub & only Cutler (back this week) & Langford, then even though BE of 87, overall JS pretty good due to prev. form & pies injuries i would still look at keeping (mostly due to lack of rookie options)

Thumbs UP: If Langdon is sub then put as E & look to play Cutler (hoping not sub) & keep with long term plan of getting Simpson or S.Mitchell as D6.

Thumbs DOWN: Trade Langford to A.Mackie (using 131K cash) & play Mackie

Comments for Langdon to Hanley or Langdon to Grimes (future D7 / M9) this week & then Langford to Simpson next week.

  3. I had the vc on buddy last night. Who to have as captain?

    T/U – take buddy’s 121
T/U – back Pendles in to go huge

  4. From sunny FIJI, HUGE thanks to SCT for keeping me informed about the footy & SC scores as I’m stuck in the resort with a sick 22 month old today.

  8. Is it just me or is anyone else tempted to go currently non playing bench players Langford or Hallahan to D/M DPP Jack Grimes. Due to his better JS, better scoring potential & DPP he is a steal at $331K & BE of 31.
I am down to 5 trades & got an emergency on all lines so may hold off to give Langford & Hallahan another week or two, before going up-down to get another Premium but Grimes may be handy for anyone in a pickle or who has very little DPP cover. Had a good feeling about him prior to last week’s game & he scored well. Injury is the biggest risk taking him, hence me being cautious due to lack of trades.

  11. Was watching the VFL before and Shannon Brynes only played the first quarter of the game and when quizzed about it the Casey coaching staff said it was general soreness. The commentators went on to discuss that he wasn’t an emergency for Melbourne tomorrow but that it definitely seemed like there was something going on.

    Watch this space i guess.

  17. In a tight game for my league and have put the VC on Libba, which hasn’t worked.
Opponent has the C on Gaz next game and in debating if I stick with Gaz and run head to head with him and rely on my other players or take a punt on Stevie J or Selwood
Will Stanley or someone go straight to Stevie J?
    Thoughts guys ?

  25. What a pleasure watching the Suns play, the best group of young fella’s in the one side that I’ve seen play. Powerhouse side for years to come.

  26. Shane Kersten of the Cats scored 73. Did he look pretty useful? Looks to be a bit of JS / role for him in the remaining games?

With Kersten, Brown of Roos (R/F DPP) & Honeychurch (M/F DPP) we hopefully have a couple of downgrade options on the horizon for the forwards.

Thumbs UP: Kersten need in their team & likely to get extended run in team
Thumbs DOWN: Cats and SC rookies are a bad mix (2 – 3 games then out)
