Game Chat – West Coast V Richmond

Written by Thommo on April 15 2016

Venue:  Domain Stadium at 8:10pm (6:10pm in WA!)

Last time:

R12, 2015, West Coast Eagles 13.12 (90) d Richmond 10.10 (70) at the MCG

Top SC scorers from last match:

  • West Coast: Natanui 146, Yeo 118, Priddis 112
  • Richmond: Martin 148, Deledio 123, Miles 105

Ins/Outs:

West Coast

  • In/Out: No change

Richmond

  • In: Andrew Moore, Taylor Hunt (Schwarzwalder’s favourite)
  • Out: Anthony Miles (Om.), Jayden Short (Om.)

Game notes: It’s official! Tonight Damien Hardwick has coached more games than any other coach without winning a single final. When he drops Anthony Miles to bring in Taylor Hunt, we can see why he has achieved that dubious honour!

While Richmond struggles for form, West Coast are cruising along nicely after a hard fought win against Fremantle last week. The Eagles are not yet playing their best football but they are comfortable favourites to defeat the Tigers tonight. However, beware the wounded Tigers! They like the travel and this is exactly the type of game they win!

Thommoโ€™s tip: West Coast by 25 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we arenโ€™t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they havenโ€™t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  1. Personally I think the gap between the Tigers A graders and the next tier of players is too big, that’s where the improvement needs to come from for the Tiges to be challengers IMO.

Tiges have gone alright over in W.A recently, hoping for a good game.

  2. As a Tigers supporter, you can never be too confident going into any game………I just hope we’re switched on early.
If I had NicNat in my SC side, he’d be my VC. He will destroy Hampson…..

      1. Long way to go, HOLD!
Priddis has only missed four games in the last five years, he’s still a Top10 MID

        1. I was going to loophole Menadue with Gresham with Davis the backup but might have to put Priddis on the pine and play both Menadue and Davis instead. Agree with you Schwarzwalder. Long race.

          1. I’m sure it’s annoying as hell but your MIDs are strong. Trading Priddis out then bringing him back in later would be too costly. He’s most likely back in next week anyway. If it was Rd21 and you still had a chance then yes, but this early stage……..

            1. Going with Davis in the mid and loophole Menadue. Could trade out Hewett to Ruggles/Hartley and upgrade Sheridan but not going to burn just because of Priddis and wait to see on Ruggles next week with so many Bombers plasyers at the minute

  3. Priddis you kidding me? I just cannot catch a break on in the Mids this season! I guess its time to start drinking heavily…

  4. Priddis – what to do?

Currently sitting at 438 overall with 28 trades left.

I would never have considered trading a premium in the past. But, from memory, MJ traded Gibbs out and then back in the year he came in the top 10.

    TU: Trade Priddis to Grey/Fyfe
    TD: Hold

    1. Ok guys you win. A moment of madness based on the delusion that I need to be close to the leaders in the early part of the season -history says otherwise.
I love this site, thanks for the reality check.

  5. Mills or Papley (Menadue dpp to forward) to play on ground instead of Priddis?? I am feeling Mills could be freed up and play on the wing with McVeigh back..

    T/U Mills
    T/D Papley

  6. Not a Tigers supporter but put a couple of multis on a big Tigers win and Riewoldt to kick a bag. Nice odds. Let’s see…

  7. If you’re wondering how Richmond outscored Adelaide last week, just watch this game tonight.
Getting the ball, mucking around with it in the back half then turning it over consistently…..

    1. Cheap possies in the back half with turn overs should not out score high efficiency and metres gained. I still don’t understand it sometimes.

    2. If any Tiger’s ton up tonight there’s something seriously wrong with Supercoach!!! Also a quick question is there still scaling in play when a game is done and dusted by halftime would hate to think there is…..

This game is already over, JUNK TIME!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank God for SC……watching the Tigers would’ve driven me mad long ago otherwise

      1. Is that a yes? I haven’t seen a player miss so many targets in a long time (and not even looking at his SC score)

          1. All good Thommo, I must be in a bad mood tonight and watching him turn it over is frustrating to watch (though the whole team is doing the same)…. I really did think he was a better player than that. Who knows, watching this maybe the coach has lost his players…. (From someone who thinks coaches are over rated)

            1. I’ve always been a supporter of Hardwick (or as much as I can be as a Hawk’s member!) but I’ve felt the same as you this season. The players seem confused, fumbly and lacking motivation and Hardwick’s selection choices are mystifying. Don’t even talk about his game plan…

Clubs need stability but as the season goes on it seems that Hardwick shouldn’t have been re-signed. I could be wrong, the Tigers could turn it around but I can’t see the list progressing.

If you can get your hands on Prestia or O’Meara (if fit), the Tigers could improve quickly.

              1. Personally, I think their list is pretty good…. Which is why I expect more, but to play this badly and have so many skill errors just makes me think there is something else….. Change isn’t always a bad thing and often shakes things up, so maybe it will be time for Harwick to go. Another couple of losses and I reckon he’ll be Max Gawn…

            2. And to think, he may have a brownlow medal by the end of the year (clearly not for this year tho!!).

I’m still for the non-winner year, btw.

  11. Look, it has no bearing on the game as the Eagles are dominating, but there are a lot of 50-50 free kicks going to West Coast.

    1. Still happy with my d at this point. Yeo can just as easily be swung back to a tagging role.

At this stage it’s too early to make many calls on premos… but if you took Houli over Rance you would be getting frustrated.
