A crazy end to a silly good season! 4/4 grand final wins (including one win by 3 points), and hoping to be around 70-80 rank to the year. Big win in LOEC2 granny was the icing on the cake.

Big thanks to all contributors and the site community for all help throughout the season! Great resource and we all appreciate the hard work of Schwarz, Motts, Chillo, Salamander, Father Dougal, Hot Sauce, Thommo and others i am probably forgetting.

Hoping all other coaches had similarly great results today.

It will be my best SC finish thus far.

Won my cash league GF and missed out on also taking out the overall points by a slim 22 points. Had Jeremy Cameron on the bench, such a shame I wasn’t able to loophole him (Robert Young can go in the dustbin of SC history).

Otherwise, it’s been a great season, onwards to 2020.

Missed the GF in all 3 of my leagues lol
Anyway thanks to everyone on the site for the great articles and all the effort put in.

  4. 2691/Whitfield/2108 still in lock-out

Obviously thrilled to close out the season with a personal best score, but to think what it could have been if Cu*tington, Heeney, Zerrett and Simpson had been able to muster more than 243 between them- would have been looking at 2800+!

Dominated all 3 of my leagues this year, including SCT7, but only ended up winning the 1 public league GF. In the two I really cared about, I went down to Hot Sauce by 71 and my buddy put 2900 to trounce me in other one.

Not to worry though, this was my second year of actually doing SC properly after a long hiatus and my first with SCT. Had heaps of fun, learnt a lot and hopefully I’ll be eligible for some of the tougher leagues next year.

Still hoping I can crack the Top 2k mark and the Eagles can get their sh*t together so we can charge towards back to back!

    1. Well done on a big year GD, and thanks for all the advice for the last half of the year! That Gawn to Lycett trade got me in the end, and who would have thought Worpel would start pumping out 140s lol. Bring on 2020 to go one better and look forward to getting strategoc again! Cheers mate

      1. Haha. Right on, hammer. Yeah, just straight up unforeseeable bad luck on that one.

Have a good summer, mate- and I look forward to copying your team in the pre-season threads lol.

          1. Always play the averages, i get the same guns and rookies as everyone else and then pick out the most popular left field players (like williams, worpel and crouch this year). Has always worked out

        1. Lol, nope. Ended up losing a few hundred places to finish 2410 for the season.

Still happy, personal best right there.

    2. Have to concur with Einstein’s theory GD. You have been huge this year. Have to be the busiest, most insightful, helpful and considered contributor this year. Thread after thread. Week after week. Game during game!

Congrats on a great year and look forward to 2020!

      1. Aww, truly flattered. Cheers, AS.

To be honest, I was inspired to be active on this forum by your work in the pre-season. So whenever I see someone in need of general advice or struggling with a trade situation and no one has responded, I try and pitch in.

      2. I totally agree allsaints with everything you wrote about GD. A valued member of the community.

Good luck with your team in the finals. It is going to be a bit tougher but a good chance for two in a row.
        Go Eagles.

Showing a bit of bias there.

Yeah, the week off should help us. Hopefully we make some adjustments, welcome Nic Nat back and mount a solid finals campaign.

Could have gone bigger if hadnt switched from gawn. Lycett was a welcome return, if only he was playing the last 3 (and didnt have to play setterfield lol). Great way to cap of the year with a pb score. I wonder if someone will crack the 3000 this week?! Wow

    1. Brilliant finish Jack.
When you announced your approach at the beginning of the year I thought it was bold to say the least. Massive respect for achieving what you have. But I am sure that we’ll find nirvana somewhere in betwixt.
Aside from all that, what you’ve done this year with Anomalies and Rate Gems has been eye-opening. Nothing short of awesome. Whilst maybe considered a little lowly by the CD community, you’ve demonstrated that there may be a better way, by challenging the system itself. So base of you, but can only be a good thing 😉
Keep it up mate and congrats on a great year.

Who knows? You might even enjoy 2020 a little bit more. It’s been a while. And I for one hope you do.

      1. Thanks, AllSaints. It could have been a much higher finish if Lycett hadn’t been dropped a few weeks back, but given that I was staring down the barrel of a sub-10K finish after last week, I’ll gladly take 8,143.

And thanks for the compliments on the articles! I’m glad that people find my work useful.

        Best of luck for 2020.

17 going 100+ Great finish to the season.
Massive thanks to everyone on this site.
Love the banter each and every week.
If I look back at the year at the best advice I received:
Pre round 1: was deciding between Billings and Dunkley.
Lot of folk were leaning towards Dunkley.
One coach stated they would probably be max 10 points apart so go the cheaper option (Billings)
That was a great call. Billings got me off to a great start and I managed to pick up Dunkley at the perfect time.
    Thanks again coaches
This site is by far the best because of all of you

  10. A PB of 2820 brings an end to an underwhelming season for the Burblers. However, I was able to take out the final in SCT Premier 2, along with promotion, so I will be celebrating hard in the off-season!

Thanks to all that had me in their league this year and I look forward to rejoining again next season.

  11. 2939/Gawn/was 4,863

Pretty sure my highest score ever…and i’ve been playing for a long time.

Rapt with my last trade going R Gray to Jezza Cameron and putting the big VC on Gawn. Everyone except for Heeney, Goldy and Boak delivered with Gawn, Danger, Neale, Whitfield & Cameron going 150+

Great way to end the season. Would be sweet if I could crack 4k somehow.

Thanks for another great H & Away season SCT.

My highest score ever and I still managed to lose my only live match.
Heeney, Billings and B Crouch all massive disappointments.
Well done to Lycett and his figurative 1 finger salute to Hinkley.
Hopefully I move up a little but soon many dumb decisions in hindsight

    1. Great stuff Shaggi and what a score to finish?!

Lycett was in my plans for next year, but will likely be RUC only looking at his heat map and the rise of Ladhams makes him almost irrelevant no?
Think Port might go ok next year. At least better than people think?!
Lycett and Greene (not their faults) were my great early upgrades (apart from Marshall) but may have cost me dearly. Ah well. That’s SuperCoach!

  14. Will post my result later once rank changes are released but until that, it’s intriguing what the highest score will be this round.

    A team consisting of
    Def: L Whitfield, R Laird, D Rich, J Sicily, T Stewart, J Lloyd
    Mids: P Cripps, L Neale, J Kelly, J Macrae, S Higgins, J Kennedy, M Bontempelli, M Crouch
    Ruck: B Grundy, M Gawn (C)
    Fwd: P Dangerfield, J Dunkley, T Kelly, J Westhoff, J Cameron, L Franklin

    could have managed 3245 points.

    1. For those that are interested, 5 teams managed 3000 or better this round, with a highest score of 3038 from “Tim’s Tossers”:

Whitfield, Sicily, Houli, Lloyd, Laird, Hurn
Neale, JPK, Cripps, Bontempelli, MCrouch, Macrae, Fyfe, Treloar
      Gawn, Grundy (c)
Dangerfield, Cameron, TKelly, Dunkley, Marshall, Boak

  16. 2795 / Grundy / up 77 spots to 703

In hindsight, leaving Westhoff’s 134 on the bench may have been an error, but this is my highest score and finishing rank ever! After five years of trying, I’m hoping I’ve qualified for the LoECs in 2020. Early thoughts for next year:
    MUSTS: Mitchell, Grundy, Dunkley
NEVER AGAINS (some for form, some for age): Boak, Westhoff, Gray, Sloane, Murphy

Hope everyone’s had fun this season. Enjoy September!

Congratulations to all the winners and with amazing high scores.
I cannot thank enough to all the outstanding contributors to this fantastic site. You all do a wonderful job and as does all the members of the community who willingly give advice and help to all. I can not wait until next year.

Delighted to hear you got up. What you do ALL YEAR on late changes and team line-ups is insane. It’s a massive effort and doesn’t go unnoticed by ANYONE on here. I’m sure I speak for everybody.

      1. Thank you for you kind words AS.
Just doing my bit to help out.
Sometimes when I look at all my posts in the Coaches box I think I post too much!!! But information is vital, it is all relevant. The player might not be in your team but it could change team structure, change of roll for another, give a rookie a chance. etc.
I figured if I was dominating the coaches box someone would say”ease up a bit” but no one ever did. Every bit of information I came across I shared. I hope some found it beneficial.
I have started opining more in the different threads, and now with your encouragement will do more next season. With the caveat its”your team, your choice and ultimately you are responsible”

  23. 2,889/Grundy/431st overall (up from 647th at end of last round).

Highest round score and final ranking ever, nearly everything went right this round. Won all 9 league GFs (a few by 10 or less points). 18 players tonned up – only miscreants were Walters, Yeo, Darling and I Hill (but decided to take a punt with Hill when Heaney spudded up so cannot complain about his 85 given it 31 more than I would have got with Heaney).

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this site, it is an outstanding community.

Now, if only the Eagles could get up off the canvas and win a few games…

  24. fantastic year. Congrats everyone.

    2776 / Dunkley (chasing) / 2070th final

I’ve said most of it already, but personally that’s my highest ever weekly score by more than 150pts and oh what could have been …

To Schwarz, Chillo, Hutta, FD, Salamander, RooBloke, Adam and HotSauce, dunno what to say. Motts … brilliant.

This site is insanely good. I’m also kinda relieved the week-to-week is over. We are in for a humdinger of a finals series and I’m looking forward to indulging in probably all of it 😉

Many congrats again to Chips (Contribs League), who simply blew me away, an honour to win GFs in two Leagues run by LEGENDS of the site in Catta and Salamander and a big congrats to ‘Worp the line’ who took me out by < 10 pts in LooneyMooneys. Congrats mate.

    And again, well done all.

This sorta shit couldn’t be done without every single one of us trying to help everyone else out.

Now I’m back in the house, have put the boy to bed via a trip to the Land of Goodies …

Glass of wine (ran out of beer) in hand and will see how this cricket plays out 😉

    1. Congrats on the personal best and a superb season, AS.

Would also like to say you’re an institution of SCT. Always wise, insightful, funny and so f*cking helpful- seen you get many, including myself, out of a pickle. An absolute legend.

On a personal note, I was so blown away by your work during the pre-season (which was tremendously helpful) that I set up a secret rivalry against you in order to a) perv on your team and b) serve as a bench mark bc I thought “if I can keep up with this guy, I’m doin’ alright”.

Catch you next year, mate. Enjoy your summer- although not too much…stay down, England! #alloutfor67

Maybe you could do the same?!

        1. Lol, I am far too dignified to go to the same hairdresser as Ben Dixon.

Right on though, finding that balance between rant and rationale is important. Always a work in progress, but generally think the we [SCT] guided people in the right direction this year.

Yeah, one week break is an absolute godsend for us. Like I saying to CT before, we’ll get Nic Nat back, make some adjustments and re-tune our system. Fingers crossed. Anyway, well see. Hope the Saints have a constructive post-season- Lyon to be parachuted back in?!

          Take care, AS.

  26. 2598/ J Macrae/ 14,712

Finally managed to record a score greater than 2400 after a 24 week drought inclusive of 2018 below 2400. Benched Westhoff and played both Mundy and Gray at F5 and F6 which has typified my season. Luckily Gawn’s astronomical score reduced Goldy’s advantage to a measly 10 after my Goldy to Gawn trade in Rd14. In regards to the Hoff over Dunkley selection it has roughly cost me 900 points this season which if I was notified at RD8 of what would happen if would be extremely hard to fathom. Was unable to rectify the decision due to poor cash gen, low trades and injuries making the move unnecessary. Also disappointed in selecting Daniel over Marshall in the byes who was then on traded to Mundy in conjunction with starting Darling due to not being game to grab Worpel at F3.

Gave Andrews a 2nd chance after his unfortunate debut last season but was unable to register a ton in the 10 weeks he’s frequented my side which was a shame as he’s among my favourite 5-10 players from a non Sc perspective. Whilst on the topic one of my favourites Goldy didn’t manage to see out the season as initially planned due to being replaced by Gawn but still happy to see him string together a great 1-2 months of football.

On the brighter side I’m happy with several starting selections such as L Neale, N Fyfe, R Sloane, Z Merrett, B Grundy and Danger to name a few as well as rarely paying in excess of 600,000 for anybody throughout the season. Considering the aforementioned circumstances I was ecstatic to be able to manage to be rookie-less whilst starting to establish cover due to some aggressive and unorthodox trading.

Thoroughly enjoyed providing the captaincy stats on a weekly basis as well as my elite numbers series in the pre-season and hopefully these were beneficial for solving those conundrums. Unsure whether I’ll have sufficient time next season to conduct 1 or both articles but will hopefully still make frequent visits to provide recommendations, etc. Echo the sentiments displayed above regarding a fantastic contribution by all the other contributors this season.

Will partake in the Sportsdeck NFL and NBA comps as well as SC BBL over the off-season hopefully enjoying more success than I did in this format and if anyone is interested in joining the 1st 2 comps then let me know below or in a thread over finals.

I decided to trade out Gawn for Goldy with my last trade for a pod in the last round.

that cost me ~140 point. lol.

Thanks for everyones contributions through the year.

First of all a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the contributors here on SCT. I mostly just lurk here in the shadows popping up for an occasional comment here and there. But honestly I dunno how I’d go without this site. You all do a fantastic job and the time and effort you all put in is hugely appreciated. Thank you! Enjoy the summer break and best of luck to you all in 2020.

A special shout out to Father Dougal. Father if you see this, your articles are my absolute favorites (sorry to the other contributors, you all do fantastic work and I love everyone’s input). But I’m a numbers guy myself and much of FD’s work really speaks to me. Father, the quirky way in which you right your articles somehow intrigues me even further and of course you are the almighty creator of the “Cow-Quisition”, a tab I really must have permanently open in 2020. Thanks FD.

Thank you everyone and to the community also. There is nothing to discuss if no one is open to discussing their team/strategies in the first place. By far the best supercoafh page I’ve come across.

Now a bit on my season. Obviously happy with rd23 as I think everyone is. Honestly happy with the whole back end of the season. My left field picks slumped and so did I rd1-rd10. I was sitting 30k and about to give it away. However I knew my bye structure was good and I had some money on the line with a mate who was also struggling.
I came out of the byes sitting 15k, so yeah byes were good to me. From there I slowly continued to work my way to my final rank mid 7k. First season back since 2011, so not too disappointed with 7k, but keen to improve on it next year.
What I was happy with was winning 3/3 Granny’s, 2 SCT leagues and my mates league.
I missed top 8 in just 2 leagues and won both minor premierships.

Worst trades of the year for me.
Unlucky to bring Whitfield in for rd11, happened to be the same week he got injured. And
Held Darling for 14 rounds as he averaged 73. Traded him out and he averaged over 100 playing all 9 of the remaining games.
Also culled a few cows the week prior to them going bang.

See you all next year, apologies for the essay !!

Thats with R Gray on field and Westhoff’s 134 on the pine.

I only made one GF after a disaster in prelim week. Concrats to Stephen and his Hyphen’s Hero’s for beating me in the Walk The Talk Granny

Thankyou to everyone on this great site. Although I have struggled at times this year ( SC wise anyway) this site has been a constant source of great information and amusement.

I will be back next year for sure.

    Thanks again guys..

    Bring on 2020.

  32. 2771/danger/ 240. Won both grannies despite having jezza Cameron on the pine. As couldn’t loophole. My second year playing and much learned from many on the site. Thanks to all. Some poor trading early and typical carnage from injuries resulted in team not being full premo and no trades for last few rounds. Must admit – difficult to manage team for both ranking and league.

    Thanks again to all.

  33. A fairly successful 2019. On top in my league all year…only lost one game…was four above second placed team…and in top 1700….oh, that one loss was the Grand Final so I guess it could’ve been a tad better.

Happy with the back half after peaking at 70000 in round 4 5 and 6.

Thanks for all if the help team; I won 2 out of 2 GFs.
In cash comp won pre lim and final by 8 points each so just how’s lucks a fortune!
Was 156 points up and opp had Boak and walters…needed both to score under 78 each…And they got 74. Miracle!

First proper year of SC so happy with it. Next season I need to do some research and start with a better team.
    3 lessons I learnt:
    1. Be patient with rookies. Don’t panic and move sideways – ie baita to Gardiner.
    2. Don’t get pressured into bringing in hype trains if I haven’t started with them…namely rocky.

    3. All the effort can be put in however luck still is the ultimate decider.for example in my pre lim I won by 8, and relied on dom sheed and darling scoring under 130 odd combined.
Darling was 50 at qtr time. Then finished 75 and sheed didn’t make 50.
    Lucks a fortune!

Happy with those figures. Best in a while. Lessons learned this year to ponder over the summer. Thank you to all who make this site what it is….. bloody brilliant! Bring on 2020!

  37. The SCT “Team” scored 2946 with 128 from Heeney and Boak. Would have been over 3000 with c on Gawn.

  38. Pretty happy. Finished 844 & won my cash league.
Ended up with 14 players whom I started the season with. Although I did trade inured Whitfield out and back in. Kept a lot of midpricers until late. Carried B Smith all season & kept Rocky right up to final game (serious!).
