Motts Movers R16 – The Mids

by Motts on July 19, 2010

Keeping it brief tonight. Have a lot of tape of the weekend’s games to watch and then there’s The Winners, On The Couch, One Week at a Time, and Footy Classified. God I love Monday nights.

First up are 5 blokes that are performing at a pretty high level. If I had to choose between the two, right now I’d take J Selwood over GAJ. Enough said.

J Selwood ($591,500 $+21,800 ($+2,600), 115.69)

M Murphy ($537,200 $+7,000 ($-62,300), 110.73)

S Mitchell ($518,000 $+31,800 ($-58,300), 99.25)

J Lewis ($467,300 $+18,600 ($-20,800), 91.56)

D Connors ($425,000 $+51,800 ($+247,100), 91.75)

And if you’ve got the trades, here are a couple of decent downgrade targets:

R Bail ($237,400 $+47,100 ($+128,200), 82.75)

B Meredith ($208,700 $+0 ($+0), 68.50)

Of course, make sure they get named before drafting them in.

Very happy I took Connors instead of Gisberts. Will upgrade him to Joey after rd 18 (subject to LTI) to settle my mids for the finals. Will be:
Ablett, Judd, Dal Santo, Pendlebury, Montagna, O’Keefe
(Cunnington, Shuey)

Good pick up. Cunnington almost got a mention this week too.

Don’t know whether to upgrade Martin, or keep him as a good bench player for the finals. He’s been in my starting 22 for ages now because Gysberts and Stevenson weren’t getting games. Stevenson has been recalled lately and his price has risen nicely. What do you think?

I also cant decide whether he is a keeper or not. His been scoring quite nice over the last 5 weeks. His break even is 69 this week so I think we are safe to wait another week to make the decision.

Keep him. 1) He’s playing well 2) It saves you a trade

Well the whole point of upgrading a player is to get another player who scores more! While Martin can keep scoring ~80ppg, someone like Burgoyne will score 90+ each week and is guarenteed to get better. Plus he’s only $3000 more expensive. But if I’m going to upgrade Martin, it’ll be to someone like Pendlebury. Just need the cash, got plenty of trades to burn. If I was going to upgrade Stevenson, I might consider someone like Burgoyne.

Should I just give downgrade targets a miss altogether?
