Motts Movers R5 – The Rucks

by Motts on April 29, 2010

I’m not going to even bother with the underperformers this week because its just the same old names: Tippett, Simmonds, and White. None of them average over 50 points a game and none of them scored over 70 last week. Move on, people, there’s nothing to see here…..

But there is something to look at here!!

A Sandilands ($560,500 $+17,000 ($+21,900), 120.00) – Didn’t just score 100. He scored 145! Has become THE must-have ruckman in the comp.

D Cox ($474,900 $-3,400 ($-115,100), 75.20) – Backed up last week’s 119 with a very creditable 87. Over the last 3 games has averaged 95. All aboard the Coxy train!! Chooo choooo!!!!

Got to mention the performance of a guy who scored 96 on the weekend that’s only valued at $402,900. Maybe Mitch Clark has finally worked out his role…

All over Coxy next week – Dropped in price again even though he scored 87 and comes up against Big Sandi this week. Looking for another price drop, which should be his last, this week.

Only problem then will be deciding whether to put all my eggs in one basket and have Cox and Nic Nat in the same side, or trade Nic Nat which would leave me with Cox and Hille.

Decisions, decisions.

I reckon Hille is looking shaky (Ryder aint much better) and Nicnat is starting to shape up into a very strong second ruck.

Motts, put yourself in the shoes of a trade addict with only 15 trades left.

<..>

Who me??

Now. Would you go Hunt–>Davis and Seaby–>Sandi this week? Is it too good to refuse? (I’d still have a strong back line with Davis and Nason on the pine). Or do I back Seaby to come good??

That’s a good trade, Spoon. I’d do it.

But then I wouldn’t trade for another 6 weeks. Can you trust yourself?

You godda deal Mottsy.

Best thing is Seaby is unlikely to fire this week against Lewy and Clarke and faces the Cats at home the following week.

Seeing his mid-40s after I trade him out will make me feel all gooey in menswear department.

Looking for some advise on long term and short term gain on upgrading Seaby to Sandilands or Cox..

Is the extra $90K worth it? or should I use that to upgrade Martin when he peaks in value.. I also have Ball, Mitchell and Selwood that will need to upgrade if they don’t pick up thier game…

Cox has proved he can be just as good as Sandilands in the past, if not better… it’s just a matter of if he’s over his prior injury and form worries, but that 119 is promising… My preferred option is to take Cox and pocket the $90K for a midfield trade. Might be a little of a differential too. Sandi’s two best scores have been against Adelaide (124) and Richmond (145), the cellar dwellers of the competition.

I’d love to know what Cox averages against Freo though, anyone know where to get this data??… Does Sandi limit his scoring capability in the big Derbys??

Thanks MJ.. Good point, Everyone has Sandi and lots would have dropped Cox.. If he can get back to his last year form he’ll be an awesome buy.

Cox scored 72 last year against Freo, and 86 and 81 the year before that . . . all low scores for him. I’m waiting till after this round to see where he and Sandi sit.

And big Sandi scored similar points in each of those 3 games, so they seem to share the points.

I’m in tha same boat and going Sandi – he looks like a sure thing. Cox is *almost* a sure thing, but there is still doubt. People have been destined for greatness before and failed to live up to it all season.

I’m swinging the axe but can’t decide which of the three duds in my backline to give the boot – Waite, Hunt or Ladson. Wish I could dump all three but can only afford one trade thanks to another kamikaze stunt by dangerman!!

I’d go Ladson. Waite’s been named on an extended bench and Hunt’s price increase should have a little more to go . . . though he probably won’t see much of the ball this week playing in the Cats’ backline.

Yep Ladson is gone – 5 tackles in 5 matches is pretty poor for a backman! Hopefull Hunt wanders up the ground a bit on Sunday.
