Motts Movers R8 – The Forwards

Thrillers

Jarryd Roughead ($422,900, 126, 96.71, 41) – He’s kicking straighter and has taken to rucking duties like a fat kid to a cupcake. 3 tons in the last 3 weeks means he’s got a small BE so he’ll go up next week. And if you’re not sold yet, Hawthorn plays the Suns in R24 – if he doesn’t get rested, he could provide a much needed boost to your forward line in the SC Grand Final. All aboard the Orange Roughie train. Chooo choooooo!!

Colin Sylvia ($468,000, 114, 108.43, 39) – Playing beautifully while all those around him fall. Hasn’t scored less than 82 all year and has scored 4 tons to boot. M/F DPP which always helps. If you’ve got both Goodes and ROK (who I consider to be better value this week) he’s a very close 3rd.

Lance Franklin ($522,600, 122, 114.86, 112) – In the past, Lanch has been known to go missing in games but there’s little evidence of that in 2011 – his lowest score for the year was in R1 when he scored 72 against Adelaide. His next lowest is 95 and the rest are centuries. He’s kicked 26.23 in 7 games this year so the accuracy is still a little off but he’s getting a ton of opportunities every game.

Honourable mentions: Stevie J, Pav, and Robin Naaahaaaas.

Chillers

Chris Dawes ($365,100, 71, 92.29, 117) – Gone missing of late – last 3 round average: 68.

Paul Chapman ($495,100, 70, 102.83, 175) – I love the way Chappy goes about it but his last couple have only returned 85 and 70 which has corresponded with a $46k price drop. It’ll be just my luck he goes cuckoo against my boys this week. With a BE of 175 hold off for another week on bringing him in though. And just remember his R22 bye.

Daniel Giansiracusa ($364,200, 63, 70.20, 79) – scored 100 against Sydney a couple of weeks ago but the rest of the year has been a bit of a shambles. He’s dropped $87k for the year.

And of course we’re all familiar with the travails of Alan Didak (44 last week), Nick Riewoldt (88), Brad Green (52), and Tom Hawkins (52)

Drillers

Patrick Dangerfield ($371,400, 138, 90.14, 57) – Had a sling-tackle-affected 52 against the Dees but bounced back last week with a 138 his third ton for the year. Looks like he’s starting to deliver on his potential. Has a tough game this week against The Pies but after that will face Brisbane (home), North (away) and West Coast (home).

Heath Grundy ($414,000, 113, 91.50, 76) – Last 3 round average: 104.3. Handy D/F DPP so he can switcheroo with McKernan, Hurley and Bob Murphy. Overall has dropped $20k so far this year. Faces Hawthorn (home), North (away), Brisbane (away) and Richmond (home) in his next 4 games.

Jack Watts ($284,800, 105, 65.00, -7) – Brought him to your attention last week and asked if he was coming good. Well, guess what? Apparently he is. After a 105 on the weekend his last 3 round average is 92.3. Went up $43k last week but still relatively cheap.

Special mentions: Michael Newton (106 on debut)(I’m a little worried about his JS tho), Jack Darling, and Tom Lynch (88.5 average in 2 games, has his second bye for the year this week).

  1. Love your work Motts even though there is no love for Stevie J.
I’m in a conundrum. My team wants to welcome a DPP forward to replace Knights. Narrowed it down to Goodes and ROK – but can’t split them. Advice appreciated or throw it to the polls. Cheers
