  1. Psssst with Montagna and Chapman both likely to be rested over the coming weeks I think you can do better with your trades.

Looking to crack through the 2200 average mark this week. I’ll apologise now for the mess I’m going to make of your fellas, BS.

  2. To make it a little easier for the SCtalk pps to analyse, the ‘blockbuster’ boils down to these differences. This is of course assuming no trades.

Motts – Gilbee vs Duffield – Big Sexy
Motts – Hunt vs Gilbert – Big Sexy
Motts – Montagna vs Swan – Big Sexy
Motts – Gibbs vs O’Keefe – Big Sexy
Motts – Waite vs Franklin – Big Sexy
Motts – Rockliff vs Brown – Big Sexy
Motts – Henderson vs Dangerfield – Big Sexy

    I’d say:
Motts gets the nod with Gilbee, Gibbs and Rockliff
Big Sexy gets the nod with Gilbert, Swan, Franklin and Dangerfield

Captain selection will be critical in this one

  3. Instead of blowing each other, why don’t you put up some analysis of recent rookies that are worth a downgrade so a man can afford Riewoldt?
This has become a pretty shit website in the second half of this season.

  4. Noone seems to be posting in mids section so I’ll put it here… Thoughts on Joel Corey 472k games back 18 then 24 touches, u would think he should run into some form now for sc finals! Quality player all the same!

  7. BS & Motts
Whilst I disagree with the way Donny went about it and there’s no excuse for his comment on the rookies, I do find this thread to be somewhat pretentious. So far only Roo Bloke has shown any serious interest in interacting on the subject other than you two. I would have thought that you could have achieved the same outcome on the Psyche Out forum.
Duck’s “SCTalk Site News” earlier in the week generated several excellent suggestions for adding value to the site however I can’t remember anyone advocating a debate on this subject. I would have thought you would be better served considering topics such as:
    “Need help with your team for finals”;
    “Who gets “general soreness” this week?”;
    “Who are you looking at bringing in for the finals?”;
“What’s the latest Friday rumour doing the rounds?”
    etc.
I would suggest that these would encourage more of an interactive interest from all of your posters.
    Submitted constructively for your consideration.
BTW I noticed neither of you denied Donny’s initial assertion? I trust we are not to read anything into this! LOL

  8. Not a bad looking team tappy, hopefully Goodwin plays out the year for u and Davis can cement hos spot.

    Deano:
Completely agree, the risk is high I guess as like riewoldt. Trying to find a mid that’s running into form and not too dear as a bit of a unique, liking look of sewell at moment too.

  9. Motts & BS:
Not that you’ll admit it, but you guys must be pissing yourselves. I for one will allow a little self-indulgence every now and then without getting upset by it. And I’ll be keen to hear about your progress scores over the weekend. Good luck to both (I reckon BS will win).

  10. HGL’SBCO is enjoying a hearty chuckle. Yes this is an extravagantly frivolous thread, but, HGL extends his royal assent to such shenanigans.
Mind you, HGL, wasn’t unduly worried by the Donny post.
I should add that maybe, this type of thread would work better if it were a preview of all the matches in the SCT Leagues, and, a review thread with ladder. Ideally, it would occur weekly.
If HGL was participating in such a league next year, he may, put forward his name to pen such a regular thread.

  11. Actually, this website IS shit. It’s frequented by about six blokes who clearly have nothing else interesting going on in their lives. Racing each other to put up the team scores first? Are you serious? And you’re having a laugh if you think teams with Waters, Kennelly and Higgins are complete. And apparently those two teams at the top of this page are the ‘Titans’ of your league…. pathetic

    1. He’s actually got my forward line wrong. Instead of Harvey I have ROK (I just made the change in the post now). So the Gibbs match-up is with Harvey – Motts win.

And Hendo will smash Dangers on recent form.

You’re right about Captain Selection Critical. He’ll go Swan – I’ve gotta hope we hold him to early 100’s like we did last time. I’m still undecided but it’ll be between GAJ, Goddard, Hodge, Montagna, and Joel.

    2. Donny, I can suggest you click the button on the top of the page that says Rookie Review…. and see every review since I came across to SCT, including R17. However, I think I’d prefer it if you just went and found another site, as clicking a button at the top of the page is clearly too complicated for you.

    3. Donny, whilst i totally disagree with your sentiments (and your abuse of the English language) your point may stem from the fact that alot of the people that use this website are reasonably okay at SC, selected decent teams and made some wise upgrades early on meaning that since the mid-way mark we’ve had completed teams and therefore have less serious SC issues to deal with.

I think generally people are really happy with the work of Duck, Big Sexy and Motts plus the many other varied contributors. If you are not happy then leave, create your own, whatever, just don’t post that you think it’s shit .. when it isn’t!!

    1. Simmo

I had him earlier in the season but traded when he went out with the knee. That’s the risk you take as those degenerative cartlidge issues are only a wrong landing or twist away from tickling the joint up and more games on the sidelines. Having said that, the reward could be 120 ave if he stays healthy as the other mids are likely to have “general soreness” over the next 4 rds.
      Risk v reward???

      1. Nah – got a day off work today so too much time on my hands and the Too Serious site is having host issues. In hindsight, I think Mike’s comment below is spot on however I would like to see more blogs on threads similar to the examples I’ve given.
I’ve just taken my toughenup princess pills and am ready to plough on!

    1. Fair comments Deano, My only defence is that my main gig is the Rookie Review, any other input from me is a plus (or minus :)) anyway, I’d still like to think people can read ‘advise’ from seeing how some avid followers of SC have progressed their teams. By Friday, topics can be running a little thin. Appreciate the feedback.

    1. We take constructive criticism VERY seriously on this site, Mike 😀 Especially after a few reds over lunch. When you’ve been to the gym the night before I figure you’ve earnt them.

With a Top 4 spot at stake this week I’m feeling pretty nervous about the game. Will be sure to post the updates along the way. Its going to be close.

      1. Like I said: “Not that you’ll admit it . . .”

BTW, what happens with this site over summer? Silly question I know, because there’s no SC, but does the site shut down for a few months or do we talk about cricket? If it does shut down (I presume it does) can we get an email to notify us that it’s open again in Jan/Feb?

        0

        0
        1. The site has only been up and running for just over a year. Last year we took the summer off but I’m happy to open it up to talk about cricket, the NBA, how good you look in a floral apron, whatever.

In terms of an email to notify you that we’re back up and chatting about SC again, it probably won’t happen. Have you got a calendar you can pop a note in: “Check SCT for Motts’ witticisms”.

    2. Thanks Mike,
I know this post was a little indulgent, but most people on the site regularly know our aliases, and unforunately we can’t usually publish individual clashes teams unless you know both teams… in this instance, we have our own little rivalry so thought I would make the most of it and turn it into a post. Anyway, it’s all pretty funny….. and for some reason I actually do think Motts will win… but hoping otherwise.

Who know’s maybe we can turn it into a weekly thing, and get post up some big clashes that our readers submit… and let the two teams take advice…. or not.

    1. 8 reviews over 18 rounds = 144 reviews per league over the course of the season. Motts thinks that even if HGL was going to do that for just one league he may have over-committed himself.

      0

      0
      1. That certainly wasn’t HGL had in mind.

HGL is thinking along of the lines of a thursday preview thread and a monday review thread with all the relevant information contained inside. If there is 1, 3, or 6 leagues, they would be contained within the 1 thread.
