Great start by D Martin, R Laird and T Doedee but a shame Crouch was injured. His post bye performance and Adelaide’s favourable fixture pre bye were pointing to a 115-120 avg in 2018. Looks like P Cripps and R Bonner will be coming in next week for Crouch and LDU.

Thought I’d better get in while I’m ahead, might not last long. Great job Crows!!

    Dusty, Two Rory’s and Doedee.

Dusty, Laird, Doedee, Caddy (yeah I know), Murphy (loophole onto the field, saves me from fielding Naughton)

    1. I Started with Caddy too, the forward line this year was a tough job. He’s far from the worst pick in the world, he could still come good, however he is not injured, and not going to bleed cash. It allows me to concentrate on other areas and if he doesn’t breakout, upgrade him later on.

Not what i hoped for at the moment, but certainly nothing to worry about!

      1. I actually thought Caddy played ok, he was his usual tenacious self, although he did drop a few marks which was disappointing, he is a real bull I reckon just needs a bit more refining to complete his game.

Took vc off Dusty last minute dang it..
Stoked with that with both Doedee and my boy CEY going bang..! Happy Easter all

Thrilled with all 5 last night – Martin, Sloane, Laird, Doodee and Murphy (bench) but depending on if Barry starts, will have 30 players and thus can’t use the vc…. ๐Ÿ™

    Good start.
Danger coming in off the bench into this week’s team as well…..now hoping for something bigger than the 2320 scored in R1.

Nice to see Murphy with a decent score for price changes next weekend.

Had vc on Laird but won’t be taking 120. Dangerous I know but Titch should score that or higher almost every game.

I have a feeling Geelongs coaching staff won’t let Titch just run around on his own this week.

With Scotty Sellwood still on the sidelines I think young Kelly might get sent to Mitchell.

I still think he is capable of 120+ but I don’t think he will get to 160 again this week. I hope I’m wrong as I own him myself.

      5

      1. I doubt he’ll get 160 again at least for a few weeks. Collingwood are definitely his bunny.

With Scooter in the side he might go sub 100 but I don’t think they have any tagging options of his caliber. Kelly (Cats) looks quite the player but I dunno about his shutdown capability on a player like Mitchell.

Kelly (GWS) disappointed a bit last week. Almost tempted to go Cogs. Kelly is probably the safest and most sensible option.

Laird and Deodee started the week off well, but billings let me down with 79. Savage just fell short of the ton but the score is what is expected.
Interesting to see how they score in the next 3 weeks as it is an extremely tough fixture

Goldy’s so far been a brilliant pick. Had Doedee on the field for his big score. Dusty is Dusty and Laird is Laird. Billings only let down thus far.

  13. 835/7/Goldi vc – still thinking Danger

Added Goldi, Savage and Billings today. Goldi great but Sainters woeful. Probably be happy with 90 + from Savage and Billings but will expect more from Jack.

Beams is gone next week, risk hasn’t shown any promise so it should be a correction. Can’t accept 69 and 59.
Have Murray on the bench with 58 and Naughton on the field. Do I take the punt on Naughton or loophole Murrays score?

    TD Naughton

  19. 1850/17/ D Martin

S Lycett, J McGovern, T Kelly, T Mitchell and J Sicily left to play and hoping for approximately 2300.

    Only 6 players under 100 (M Crouch, B Fritsch, A Brayshaw, Z Giles-Langdon, J Billings and M Gawn)

If McGovern scores 100+ then all my 6 defenders will have scored 100+ (M Hurley, R Laird, K Simpson, T Doedee and J Finlayson).

        1. Yep. I’m convincing myself it counts as a “rookie correction” at this stage.

Lots of very very low ruck scores so far in rounds 1 and 2.

Short of Goldy, or a bit more time into NicNat I’m not sure what ruck should be R2.

For now English can be a cash cow, and if I’m forced into a ruck change I will shift him to forward bench, and ditch Liam Ryan.

It’s about now I’m really wishing I had Sicily for flexibility reasons.

          2

          1. Im not brave enough to pull the trigger this week. But its a tempting move due to how much uncertainty there is around the ruck premos.

    I have a dilemma:

    T/U – take Holmans 92 as E

T/D – roll the dice on T. Kelly

    Thanks

    21

    1
    1. Take Holman’s, without a doubt.

How much would you expect Kelly to get?? Even if he managed to get a century again ( unlikely), it’s still only going to be, at best, 20 points more.

      A bird in the hand…

      1. Thanks Brad and the other voters, and also to Kennod and Freo Tragic for their advice about not doing a corrective trade after round 1. This is by far the most friendly and helpful SC group!

      2. Risk of Kelly tagging Titch?

In the end, he got an exceptional result in end 1 for a rookie. I would not expect an increase, but if he did, with Danger back in the side it would be most incredible.

I think 70’s or 80’s is a great result for him in round 2 despite Guthrie out.

        3

      3. Last week I took Holmans score and subbed out Parker to free up cash elsewhere. Time will tell if it was an inspired move or what could have been

  24. I have a bit of a dilemma thats going to span accross 2 weekends of trading that I didnt see coming so hoping to get some input.

I have both B Ellis and Lever in defence (and possibly even Lycett in the ruck) both whom are stinking it up and look like important corrective trades for next week.

The issue is I didnt get T Kelly or English whom could look like good rookie pickups but I can’t pull 4 trades in a week.

Should I stick with Ellis/Lever/Lycett and just go about trading for Kelly/English/Any other standouts as normal or trade earlier on these kinds of players so I can dump my spuds next week?

TU – Trade 1 or 2 of Kelly, English in now midround to enable the Lever/Ellis punt next week
TD – No midround trades, punt Lever/Ellis/worst performers next week as normal but miss the boat on potential gun rookies

Comment for some alternative I havent considered

    4

    2
    1. Do you have any mid/def players sitting in the midfield? If so, punt lever, move the dpp into defence and bring in Kelly.

Don’t worry about English, not worth trading for.

      Upgrade Lycett.

      3

      1
      1. Unfortunately no dpp in the mid once Lever goes out its gotta be for a defender. Same deal for Kelly in it would probably be for Barry at this stage.

        1. G’day Mark. It’s a tough decision either way mate. Usually my rule for corrective rookie trades is to always wait until they have played 2 games. It’s not unusual for a rookie to have a great first round and then follow it up by a sub-par performance. Hence the ‘must have’ rookies of round 1 become not so must haves. In saying this, Kelly looks like one of the rookies that everyone should have, but if Barry comes out and scores a 90 odd this week then you may be kicking yourself. Also keep in mind that the round 1 score will only be in their system for the first price rise. Food for thought mate, but just go with your gut. Good luck with it

          5

          0
        1. Which looked stupid this week (scoring the worst of the two, two weeks straight) but they are effectively averaging the same and English id half the price.

So not feeling completely stupid yet.

  25. Big Maxy didn’t quite do the job as VC so who to put the captaincy through to.
TU Mitchell against the Hawks at the MCG
TD Parker against Port at the SCG.
As already mentioned here, bit worried that TMitch will get some extra attention after last weeks game.

    1. T Mitchell:
      2017 avg when disposals below 36: 108.55 from 11 (low of 85 and a high of 128, 2/11 below 100, 2/11 120+)

First miscalculation took VC off Dusty 5 mins before start of game ( I don’t know why either ) . Put it on Cripps , that didn’t really work, now have a choice of Buddy or Titch.
Buddy, Titch, McLean,Roughy ,T.Kelly and Waterman to come, Waterman on for T.Greene seeing Garlett fizzed as FWD emg.

Hibberd’s scoring is a concern but he’s a premo so I’ll ride out the storm. Most pleased with Goldy’s form. Whilst he was rucking against an injured Longer his movement around the ground is back. Dusty on track for Brownlow x2.

  30. 1809/16/Dusty

McLean, Bonner, Heeney, T Kelly, TMitch and Sicily still to play.
Only mistake so far was starting Brayshaw on the field over Holman.
Hoping to improve on my 1000 ranking.

Tmitch, Heeney, McGovern, Sicily And Kelly to come.
Ended up on 2395 last week, so if I get something close to that I’ll be stoked.

At this stage don’t think I’ll need to make any corrective trades next week, but tempted to give Hibberd the boot. Hurley and Savage looking like solid options and if Bonner smashes out another 90+ he is almost a must have at his price IMO. Good luck everyone

    11

    0
    1. Got Hibberd too. Agree it’s worth considering options but don’t want to sideways trade. Think the downgrade to Bonner could be a viable option or Doedee if you don’t have him. That would free up some cash for future needs.

      6

      0
      1. Totally agree RB. I hate sideways trading, but if Bonner can replicate something similar to what he did last week, then u certainly have to look at it. Will create a very healthy bank balance for potentially the same scoring output. Don’t know if it’s just the early season blues, but Hibberd has gone missing for large periods of the game. In round 1 he got half his score in the last quarter. Last night, I don’t think he even added to his 3QT score. I think we need to either stick fat and trust our pre-season judgement or flick him now before he potentially becomes a liability and leaks cash. Decisions, decisions mate.

        9

        0
          1. I have Bonner, and am thinking of swapping Hibberd for Zac Fisher. (Via Sicily DPP)

Then I could use the cash plus my bank to trade Brayshaw for Oliver….

            3

            1
            1. And with retirements and injuries at Geelong…

Today’s game probably decides this for me, especially if Guthrid can have a big game if O’Connor plays.

Forgot the swap Lmurphy for Naughton on the bench but still should get a ok score

  34. Had both merrett and crouch..thats a lot of points/places at this time of year, so 2250+ both weeks I’ll take, with all the right rookies meaning I only need to trade Crouch this coming week.

  35. 1552 / 15/ Dusty

    Still to come….

Buddy, Parker , Westhoff , Bonner ,English , Titch and T Kelly.

If they can get close to last weeks scores I could end up 2500+.

Anything over 2250 and I’m happy.

Sh*t ….I’m happy anyway after Freos great win!

  36. Behind the 8 ball with Crouch’s 50 and no VC on Dusty. Should I take Goldy’s 123 as Capt or roll the dice with Buddy ??? It Buddy goes big again I might scrape a few league wins.

    4

    1
  37. Roll the dice with buddy like I did , 50 odd at half time , no better at three quarter time , I have completely cocked up VC/ C this week

  38. 2011/19/Kelly
After Cripps 115 as my VC I was debating to go for Fyfe or Titch as my VC so naturally I went Kelly. Wasn’t terrible I guess and I still have Kelly Titch and Sicily to come 2300 and I will be very happy.

Kelly and Sicily to try and drag me closer to the SCT Cup !!

  40. 2113 with Mitchell, Kelly and Sicily to play.
Better Result than last week with Zorko, Fythe, Walters and McLean firing and VC on Martin.
Have 278 in Bank so next week I will have interesting selections to make on whether to add Parker or Wines to mids or strengthen my back line or forward line with Naughton and Dunkley underpeforming.
In SCT 5 league as well as a number of others.

  41. 1649/18/Danger

Danger, Sicily, Kelly, Mitchell to come but not looking like a good week compared to most.

Martin, Lobb and Hibberd letting me down so far this week. Only worried about Hibberd as far as premos go so could be worse I guess.

    0

    0
  42. I’m on 1751 with Tim Kelly, Titch and captain danger left.

What hurt me was having Garlett on field ahead of Ryan plus Toby Greene was a late withdrawal also taking the VC off Dusty was very costly but still I’m in a strong position and I haven’t used any trades

    1

    0
  43. 1900/19/Kelly

Kelly Titch and Selwood to come.

2200 still a real possibility. Forecast is 2251.

Not a total failure, but a bit of a disappointment.

Plenty of solid cashcowing, which is critical. 11 rookies under 123k performing well, plus a few higher priced ones ready to increase in price too.

    1

    0
    1. Solid cashgrowth likely from my midpricers too in Cogs, Devon Smith, McLean and Marchbank.

Biggest concern is Hibberd and that Damn R2 spot.

I can see how that might end up seeing a downward trade of Hibberd and bringing in Goldy.

Would save me wearing Hibberd’s price drop, get an extra cash cow in his place, and get Goldy before his smaller price rise.

Hard to tell who to cull. If I lose Olango I lose my loophole. If I cull Garlett I lose his cash growth and dpp.

I can cull Brayshaw, who as my most expensive rookie has probably the least cash growth, move Garlett mid to activate dpp, and English Forward for future use of his dpp.

      2

      0
      1. Gartlett and Brayshaw look like they might average similarly, so not a bad move, but still a risk… Much easier for Brayshaw to make 80.

But if you can use the cash…

        0

        0
        1. Brayshaw should average more and get better job security. But at an 80k price premium that isn’t great reasons to hang on to him by choice.

Possible ins defensively might be Bonner or Guthrie.

If English gets named for another week I’d have to seriously look at Zac Fisher as an in for my forwards.

          1

  44. 1911/19/Titch

    Just three left:
    Mitchell (capt)
    Sicily
    T Kelly

Hibberd’s new role has me pretty concerned. Given the price changes coming up, it’s move him now or hold a long time and hope something changes.

    Thinking of
Out: Hibberd, Brayshaw, and my saved cash
In: Oliver & Fisher (using Sicily’s DPP)

    1. Father,

      I’m thinking Hibbard > finlayson
(forgive me for I have sinned and initially thought he was not named in rd1 was therefore stuck with keefe)

Then upgrade brayshaw > coniglio who I hope to have as M7/8 at end of the year

Leaves me some spare cash to donate into the collection bowl next Sunday.

    Kelly/Titch/Sicily to come

Ranked 53 going into this week but back down to earth with Finlayson on bench, Murray and Hibberd not doing great.

Fingers crossed I can stay near the top

    4

  46. 2172/Dusty (C)

Sicily and Kelly to come. A better week for me after Zerrett and Ryder went down last week (although Stef Martin still scored less than Ryder did in a half of footy). Looks like I should climb up a bit from the 17k I’m ranked right now.

    1
