R13 Progress Scores (cont.)

Written by Motts on June 25 2010

So you’ve VC’d Buddy, put a non-playing captain on the field, got him covered with a gun, you don’t have Chapman or Kennelly, and so far you’re averaging over 100 a player. Sound familiar, Daniel (Jackben)?. I’m sure you’re going to want to tell us all about it. Here’s where to do it.

  1. I’m guessing 1720/18/GAJ. Not bad considering i’m one player down and have a list of injuries. Hopefully everyone else is doing well.

Interesting to read the comments on TooSerious regarding the GAJ score particularly compared to Selly’s as well as the commentators on ABC radio/Ch7 in their assessments of player value/impact. Hard to justify that sort of discrepancy when it was Joel that kept them in it in the second half when GAJ went missing.
I challenge anyone to justify why the scores should not have been reversed.

  6. I’m in an awkward position in my eliminator battle. I’m ahead 1641-1609, and, I have used 1 less player than my worthy opponent, 16/17. BUT, I’ve spent my captain -Jesus- and my opponent has Swan as his.
We both have Chapman, and my J.Grant 69 beats his Gumbleton 51 which extends my lead to 50.
So it comes down to my blokes; Malceski/Swan/Pendlebury/Daisy/Didak & Rok vs his Malceski/Swan (c)/Armstrong/Didak & Grundy.
I want Swan to do well for the sake of the Pies and for the health of my overall ranking, which is 851st, but, it seems that the better Swan goes, the harder it’ll be for me to win this battle.
I’m hoping for the best 🙂

  7. 2076/19/GAJ. Doing pretty good considering I brought in Gumbles (46) for Brown. Just once I’d like to get my bench rotations right. This round was another fail, bringing in Silvagni (46) for Sheppard (89). Last nights players all fired, big hugs to GAJ, Goddard, Enright and Montagna. 🙂

Somehow Gaz scored points last night – there wasn’t any interweb where I was watching the game until a mate came about three-quarter time with his ipad. could not believe the scores the pimple had garnered!

        1. yeah it now looks like i will have to trade him…as soon as i got him, he scored 87 and got injured…hasnt played since…i will have to use another precious trade, or just hope he comes good for finals time, but thats unlikely.

          0

          0
          1. I would trade him. He was injured, then injured again on his return from injury means he has a lot of catching up to do, fitness wise. He is also more likely to re-injure himself on return. You can trade his value in for 90 odd points p.w that can benefit you whilst this guy is out and possibly when he returns.

            0

            0
  12. really dissapointed goodes is rubbish and i traded him in a few weeks ago and rok, pendls and didak all down on there usual scores paul roos is an absoulte loser goodes was stuck in the forward line and rok was stuck on harry o

    0

    0
    1. ROK went forward to make Harry O accountable – and it worked, while ROK kicked 3 goals himself. I doubt Roos was worried about his or Goodes’ SC score.

      0

      0
    2. If Goodes is such rubbish then why did you trade him in only “a few weeks ago?”
I have him as well and whilst I’m disappointed in tonight, the bloke’s a champ who’s more likely than others to deliver for me in finals. Roos was forced to play him forward without Braddy for structure tonight ala the past 4 weeks and the inside 50s quantity and quality did allow him to succeed. Presti also needs some credit.
I can’t confirm this personally though I’m pretty sure from anecdotal reports that Roosy does not allow his coaching decisions to be affected by fantasy footy competitions.

  14. Can others give me some input as to the worth of Ben Cunnington?
I traded him in after his second game thinking (hoping) he would be the Anthony of last year given the hype however his SC scoring has caused me to often have trouble correctly pronouncing his surname.
It appears to me that he is behind the play by several steps consistently in his read and consequently he struggles to get possies and when he does, is caught with the pill too often.
I wonder whether this is the result of an interrupted pre-season and he’ll get better or that he is just too slow.
    What do you think?

    0

    0
      1. Yeah, that’s what he’s in for Mike but bench cover with scores under twenty is near on worth SFA so I’m putting it out there as to whether others think he can improve.

        0

        0
    1. I really rate Cunnington and will look @ him next year, but I think his lack of a preseason has hurt him. Maybe, he’ll get some late season scores. Hopefully, you’ve got another option on your bench to cover your mids.

  15. Finished with 2322 losing by 15 in my tough league. On the plus side, I may get through in my eliminator, leading 2168-2062, my opponent needing Tony Armstrong to score 107 to beat me.
It sure is a weird feeling to have a final score before all of the games have finished.

Mind you, there was plenty of advice offerred on this site to reconsider these decisions.

  24. 2083 2/3 league wins. Very happy with that considering Goodes’ 16, Cunnington’s 19 and Peterson’s 0 with JB, Higgins and Gray on the sidelines.

      1. Due back next week but I have my doubts about long term performance this year as back related hammy injuries are like OP in that the pain is referred and therefore can be somewhat debilitating.
I will have my fingers crossed and am hoping he can be right by finals time.

        1. Your score 1975 + Goody (144) and Stevens (65) = 2184, unless your doing a Paul from R12.

My lowest score for the year,

1952, thanks mainly to Coons, Pods, Varcoe, Banfield ( Replacing Murphy), Brake then Chappy not playing and making Jude Captain because it was meant to rain, but of course it didn’t. Losing my main league by 81 to a lower ranked player was the topping on the Cake.

          1. 1975 = 1875 – was a little bit snakes hissed last night when posting but I love your investigative work – I’d even forgotten the trade from Duncan to Henderson I did on Friday to save a doughnut by DPPing with SS.
Unusual how 4s hasn’t posted his score this w/e (particularly after the Cat’s effort) after your challenge to him when the going’s not so good?

            0

            0
          2. Plus Jay notching up a ton while on the bench whilst Jpod was on the park scoring mid 20’s and making Hodgey his Captain instead of Symes (126), I’m not surprised we haven’t heard from him, unless his being consisted though.

Getting rid of Duncan was a good move, he won’t come back in the the top 22 unless there are a bucket load of injuries. I was looking at hendo myself because of his MPP D/F status wasn’t sure if he will keep on getting games so went for Ellis instead.

            0

          3. Was worried about Hendo’s JS with Hentshell back playing magoos however he impressed me today with his fwd pressure and contested ball winning ability despite dropping off a bit in the second half. I think he fits in quite well with Tippet and Tex being the X factors.
