R17 Progress Scores

by Duck on July 20, 2012

OK, Ladies first ….. it’s Women’s Week after all.

Let’s get the progress scores up when you’re keen to share.

It’s fair to say that the Cats are back, and the Dons game plan has been cracked.

Would be very surprised if Baguley didn’t get dropped, along with Dell’olio. They’re just not up to AFL standard.

Also, James Hird would be very stupid to drop Bellchambers again – He is turning into a great tap ruckmen and can kick a few goals!

Hopefully when we get Hurley, Zaharakis, Ryder, Hibberd, Hocking and Winderlich back in the team for finals we can play some good footy.

Hille too slow and no grunt. Melksham has to go he is so useless, 7 possies playing whole game, way too soft and no footy brain.

The thing with Melksham and Hooker though – they are still developing, and they can do thir jobs MOST of the time. Hooker loses confidence too easily and gets pushed around by the big full-forwards. And Melksham isn’t quick enough to be as skinny as he is.

Yeah good one Deano. I doubt that Hirdy would do that to the club that he played for for 15 years!

Mine:
139/1/Pav (GAJ v/c -must have forgot to change it from last week). Now going to cop Guthries 17 because Darley didn’t get named.

SCTTL
83/1/GAJ (Priddis v/c). Going to cop a donut in Mohr.

Hope Sheedy sneaks my missing players on board the flight!

“GO THE MIGHTY HAWKS”

If anyone was to tell you that Swan got 49 touches, Beams got 34 & kicked 4 goals & Pendles also got 34 touches you would ask…how much did the MCG Pies win by?

Mighty effort by the Hawks, especially without the likes of Hodge & Franklin!

And I happened to be sitting 20 feet from Joffa at the footy today, never seen a bloke look so glum ( hahahahahaha) & also I believe there were 83,000 there today……………well at the 10 minute mark of the last 1/4, I would hazard a guess that there were no more than 45,000 in the ground!

Swan went at 63%, had 5 clangers & yes he had 13 clearences….5 straight to the Hawks & at lease 3 scrubby kicks out of a contested pack to no advantage to anyone! Thats the way I saw it anyway, I know he had 49 touches ( fantastic effort ) but there is know way he influenced the game as much as Lewis did IMO!

I was at the game…Swan clearly best on with Beams an easy 2 votes.

Hawks were better, but only because collingwood forward line was non existent. C’wood midfield smashed hawthorn with Pendlebury also having 34 touches. But Cloke was too busy trying to read contracts than take marks, Dawes has played about 10 games this year for free, and Tarrant needs to stay in defence.

Verdict, Hawks had the better day, even bunce of ball etc.. Not having Franklin I think opened them up and they looked a better side if that makes sense?? But if I were a collingwood fan I wouldn’t be too worried. Was just or of those days for them.

Fishtopher July 22, 2012 at 11:50 am

Collingwood – 34 clearances Hawthorn – 47 clearances.

Sorry, who’s midfield smashed who?

Cmon though people. I know SC is a stats based game but there’s a little more to it in the real stuff. I’ll openly admit that things went our way yesterday with the “bounce of the ball” and the umpiring etc. but for a contest between top teams that was a pantsing. Eight goals could have easily been twelve and 49 touches at 63% that have little influence on how your team competes does not a BOG make.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

deano July 22, 2012 at 1:33 pm

3 – Mitchell
2 – Lewis
1 – Beams

and yes, I watched the game. If posessions were the main criteria for winning Brownlows, Swan and GAJ would have eight between them and not two.
Will be interesting watching the count.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

Fishtopher July 22, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Words from the wise. I’d give exactly the same votes Deano.

Just watched the replay. About twenty minutes into the third Mick Malthouse (probably the most biased commentator in the game) said something along the lines of “Mitchell has had 26 to Swan’s 29 but Mitchell has just seemed to be able to bring others into the game better”. That was also the quarter where the game was won and Swan had two turnovers that resulted directly in goals. I don’t think Swan’s 15 touches in the final quarter change any of that.

You’ve lost me today SuperCoach.

Andrew Swallow
29 touches, 17 contested possessions, 72% efficiency, 20 clearances, 5 tackles ….. 92 points. WTF??

Pretty stiff. A lot of points went to Tuck (got about 40 for his two goals in the third) and Dish.

Great game at the ‘G today between Richmond and North. Scrappy at times but the last quarter had it all. Petrie the star with 7 goals!!

2217/pendles, not enough, so many Prems down, time to concentrate on Scotty in the open, when does he tee off ?
