Trade Talk R4 2012

by Motts on April 23, 2012

Had enough of looking at Dusty’s woeful scores? Maybe you can’t wait to see the ‘back’ of Mumford? Treloar on the bubble too hard to pass up?

You’ve only got a couple of days before partial lockout kicks in again this week so whatever you’re planning on doing, start thinking about it now.

Really want to trade out Gibbs and dusty but with only 20 trades left can’t bring myself to do it, hopefully they come good this week.

We should set up a dedicated GAJ thread to monitor his injury. If he’s out for say 2-3 weeks it will give a lot of us a difficult decision.

i have him to and i’ll be moving him on. saw him play against the coasters cant see him racking up and decent scores not even above 50. not big enough to dominate the air, tall big to be the clasic nippy crumber in the forward line and doesnt look to have the tank for the middle.

i’d go possibly treloar, hall (if u dont already have him), Smetz (but he seems to be struggling to get a game atm also).

not sure who else would be a good option

i think trading GAJ is worth the trade to get him back in later. his scores are two big to rely on a rookie to get u anywhere near 70 let a lone 130 – 140 or more.

i say trade him, get in another premium eg stanton, pendles, ect and by the time ablett is due back u could prob cash in on a cow and get ablett back. obviously it will all depend on cash situation.

ive already used a bunch of trades but im thinking of bring in old mac for either clay smith or coniglio. his BE is very hard to ignore and may just turn into a keeper.

t/u trade smith, hes done for the season
t/d trade coniglio, he wont be going up much higher

im completely stumped so this will help me a heap. cheers lads.

Tough decision, don’t think these trades will make $200k

Coniglio & C Smith will go up 50k
Treloar will go up $150k
J McD will go up $200k

Coniglio to JMcD seems the best bet, will depend on who is selected

His scores have been very good this year but he has been known to put in regular stinkers, scoring <50. However the ball is getting down his end a lot more this year due to an improved crows midfield with faster ball movement. Will always take several contested marks, If only he could kick. Tempting but not for me (had him last year when he was for/ruck.) I can,t ride that rollercoaster again.

Fyfe to Stanton and Carrots to Suckling.
Stanton will be Essendon’s best and fairest.
No doubt he will keep getting high scores

Suckling, more time of half back and in the middle.

He won’t be pumping out 100+ very often I can almost be certain of that. When a teams structure is such that a player of his ilk consistently scores aronund the 75 mark early n the season then you need to think about the role he is playing and whether or not it will change considerably enough to allow him the freedom to score at least 30+ above his current average. Eg: Jack Riewoldt.

I think he’ll have his ‘big’ games where he’ll score high, but for the most part I don’t think his average will rise above 85 – 90 for the majority of the season.

Hmmm…just shy of 1800 this week – 6 donuts on the field, only two covered by emergencies. I swear to God(dard), if the SC website freezes up for the 10 minutes leading up to lockout again, you guys may see me in the news for all the wrong reasons.

On the upside, I have 2 more trades now than I would have had…

Have both Fyfe and Mumford to consider injury-wise at the moment. Can cover for Shaw for one more week, and Ablett can warm the bench for a while. Really don’t want $600k sitting on the bench every second week, though, so Mumford is target number 1. With Naitanui, Giles and Redden around him, is it worth trading him down, knowing that I’m gonna have to use another trade later to bring in a premium ruck (possibly even Mummy himself if he comes good…)?

And Fyfe…considering trading him out for Goodes, but depending on what I decide with Mummy (hold or trade) I could trade out Fyfe for Treloar, and then upgrade Greene to Selwood or Judd or any number of gun mids.

Then there’s Birchall – any info on him? Can’t see anything floating around on how serious his knee injury is, how long he may be rested etc.

This round sucks balls!

Do we think Fyfe might be good to go seeing as he was only dragged last minute? If so, maybe downgrading Mumford and upgrading a rookie like Wingard to Goodes/Selwood/Judd/Stanton?

Balls, keep your eye on AFL site, mumfords back is caused by infection…i have no idea how long it would take to recover from that but im sure the upcoming story on there will tell you.

i think u should definately trade mummy, with a bavck injury he will be in and out all year. also the way giles is going u could almost make him ur No 1 ruckman, and just pull in another rookie to sit on ur bench that should get some game time eg longer. u already have nic nat so him and giles is a good combo. rookie for mummy.

i’m torn with fyfe, all depends on this week. i wouldnt trade greene, coz he seems to be the real deal and will continue to rise in price. treloar is a definate inclusion though

Question is, How long will it take for infection to clear?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

jimbo April 23, 2012 at 7:55 pm

Even though its just an infection from a cortisone injection, he needed that injection because of back soreness which ruled him out of the fremantle game. Therefore I would still be wary of him because its very hard to fix back issues and it could be reoccurring thing.
However, it may just be a small problem and he could be right and knock out 110 average. Just keep an eye on him and how he is training.

My bad D Mac just read on the afl website that it was an infection like u stated, i thought it was some sort of injury such as a strain or slip disc or whatever else can occur.

in regards to ur question who knows, u wouldn’t think it could take too long though like u see with some players who have had surgery and developed an infection, then need to go back in to get the infection cleared up, ie nicoski. so hopefully that wont be the case.

Sounds promising :)

Unbelievable!

1. Sandilands missed training today. Possible calf injury
2. Scott Pendlebury wore a bandage on left calf & limped around The Tan today.

Anyone considering duffield? Averaging 90 odd including a game where he got injured and subbed out, without that would be averaging 100 and he looks like freo’s designated kick out.

I’m consideriing him gav. scored reasonably well except for that 40 odd where he got subbed after a knock to the ribs. Just don’t know if I can trust him or FURL. I am also considering Heppell. Ver consistent 80-100 and the occasional ton to sweeten the deal.

I traded him last week as I thought it would be a recurring back injury. We now know its an infection which with antibiotics will heal. AFL website says he’ll miss this week I think he’ll be back next week therefore keep IMO.

Hey just wondering if anyone knows how to or if its even possible to do the following: I want to trade out Boumann from the backline and replace him with treloar in the forward line whilst changing smedts who i have in my forward line to my back line to cover boumann. Can this be done in one trade? if so how?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

BlueBalls April 23, 2012 at 4:44 pm

Yep – in the trade wizard, select Boumann to be traded out. Once that’s done, you should see an option for Smedts in your team list (on the left side of the page) to Substitute him (S in a white box). Doing so moves him to the back line, then your list of potential trade-ins will change to FWDs only. Select Treloar, and hey presto!

The Hairy Cat April 23, 2012 at 4:46 pm

Yes – hit trade on Boumann, then when the trade window comes up, click on the “S” icon next to Smedts and he will then move to the backline. Now you can select a forward to trade for Boumann (e.g. Treloar).

Enjoy!

alternate formula. made under my girlfriends email address. is coming 86th overall, My other team is called composite formula which is under my email address and was meant to be my main team but is coming like 20,000th overall. Alternate formula included all the players i wanted in my original team but couldn’t fit them in, you could call them the misfits haha, the team was also made after the sydney and GWS game so had no players from either of those teams, so I’m surprised at how well the team is doing. i told her if i win in it all ill give her half the money ;)

The Team

B: Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Bugg, Clarke, Bower, Drummond (Morris, Smedts)

M: Ablett, Murphy, Selwood, Hayes, Masten, Magner (Smith, Ledger)

R: Giles, Maric (Redden, Stephenson)

F: Franklin, N.Riewoldt, Cloke, Pavlich, Porpliyzia, Hurley, J.Riewoldt (Trealoar, Dickson)

Traded Ledger > McDonald and Couch > Treloar… I know Couch may get game time soon and has good cash cow potential, but in the 2-3 weeks (or more) it takes for him to bubble, I will be milking other cows and his DPP lets me slot him in easily when he is ready to pop.

I dont care whether Couch is going to get a game or not, Treloar is a better player/cow then him and Old MacDonald has a BE of -116 and is expected to rise at least 100k. You will miss the boat on him.

Just thinking preseason a team with these players would of looked not bad:
Backs: Shaw, Carrazzo, Dempsey, Lake
Mid: Ablett, Pentleburry (possibly out), Thomas, Ball, Morabito, Hodge
Ruck: Mumford, Sandilands (possibly out), Leuenberger
Forwards: Fyfe, LeCra, Goodes, Stevie J

Depends a little on your SC goals. If you are in a good overall possie and want to push to maintain or climb higher then using up your trades is really the only option to make your team right and then try and hold on with only a few trades left in the back half of the season. If you only really care about beating a mate in a league GF then simply ensure you do enough to make the top 4 of your league with trades up your sleeve so your team is at full strength come Rnd 23.

My team: 20 trades left, just shy of $200k in reserve

SCTTL 20 trades left $46k left. I did note that in it’s public league my SCTTL team has a percentage of 147.11% (and not even a ton in the SCTTL#2) so yeah, they must be pretty bad! Ha! ;)

Holding fire in both teams. I hope. The only one I’d consider at the moment is Ledger to Old Mac, but I’m not going to do it. If Pendles is out too then I’ll be in a bit of a bother but I think I’d just have to bring in Clay Smith if he is around this week. But if he was out too I’d have to reconsider the Ledger thing. That’s a lot of ifs. My head hurts.

Questions to think ponder….
Keep Ablett and hope for 1 week?
Will Stanton get score 140 vs Pies?
Is J-Mac a must (All my other rookies are making me stacks of cash already) !?

Which option would you do?
Ablett + S.Reid –> Stanton + Dahlhous/Tippett (Im sick of Reid already)
Ablett + Shiel/Magner –> Stanton + Barlow (2 almost Premium mids)
Shiel/Magner + Reid –> J-Mac + Dahlhous (Make some $$$)
Sit tight on Ablett and just get J-mac in
————————————————————————————————-
Deledio, Suckling, M.Clarke, Hombsch, S.Morris, Dempsey (Bower, Ellis)
Gazza, S.Thompson, S.Selwood, JPKennedy, Masten, Magner (Shiel, C.Smith)
Sandi, Hale (Giles, Redden)
Franklin, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, Goodes, D.Martin, Fyfe, Reid (Kennedy, Hall)

20 trades left….
$110k cash spare….
