  1. Can we trust Buddy with his bruised heel?

Horse saying that he’s still limited in training and that he should be able to do more by the byes if it doesn’t get worse between now and then does sound concerning.

He’s not a necessity in my opinion with averages of 94 and 98 in the past two years and Menegola, Boak, Hogan, Gray and Darling all having the potential to outscore him for the rest of the year. He’s at an attractive price but so is Simpson who I can get instead via Sicily.

    1. Go Simpson. Buddy will be cheaper after his bye (or at some point in the future) if you still wanna get him. He’s burnt me once. I am NEVER picking a KPP again.

      1. I’m not sure about trading in Simpson this week.

He plays the Swans then he has the R12 Bye.

I’m looking at Simpson or Sicily in R13. Both should be under $500k.

        6

        2
        1. K Simpson:
          Avg VS Syd since 2009: 100.46 from 13 (low of 57 and a high of 148, 7/13 below 100, 4/13 120+)
          Last 3 VS Syd: 129.33 from 3 (low of 115 and a high of 148, 2/3 120+)

          1. Great stats Adam.

You may of changed my mind.

If Murray and Finlayson miss again, I will probably get Simpson this week and target Sicily after his bye to complete my backline.

            Cheers.

        2. Why does it matter when someone has their bye? Everyone we bring in at this point has their bye barring port/Gc so you’re not losing points. Simpson is also a better player for my bye structure

          4

          5
          1. To clarify what I meant is it’s not better to bring someone in with a R13 or R14 bye rather than a R12 bye because you’re not going to get more points out of them. It just seems strange abstractly to bring someone who misses the next week. What matters is whether you’ll be missing points by trading a player out who will play and how the player you trade in fits into your bye structure. Kelly to Simpson means Simpson plays R11, R13 & R14, Kelly to Buddy means Buddy plays R11, R12, 13 and misses R14. You get the same amount of points, what matters is bye structure, ideally you trade players in after their bye but that there’s only port players to choose from at the moment and kelly needs to go.

    2. buddy needs the best midfield in the comp to dominate as a fantasy fwd , otherwise he’s just an ok fantasy fwd option when uninjured ..

  2. Help please
T/U Fritsch & Kelly to Rocky & Walters
T/D Billings & Kelly to Rocky & Waters

    Thank you.

  3. 80k from rookie Kelly to the best player in the comp lol martin , a good trade if dusty could be bothered gettn the footy ..

    7

    1. Dusty has had coaches votes in seven out of ten games. He’ll get out of third gear after the byes and be back over 600k in no time.

      12

      0
  4. Looking at Westhoff but unconvinced. Never averaged over 100 and coming off two sub-90 seasons.

How does Ryder being ‘managed’ affect him; is Hoff pinch-hitting in the ruck?

He’s always had a massive ceiling so could be worth a shot.

    3

    2
    1. I’ve had him since Rd3. He makes me nervous every week. I’m amazed at how well he’s going and couldn’t be happier/luckier.
But if I didn’t have him, I reckon there are a fair few others I’d bring in ahead of him.

  5. TU: Danger and T smith in for T Kelly and Higgins
TD: Walters and T smith in for T Kelly and Higgins. Fritsch to Danger next week.

  6. Can anyone help suggesting some moves this week?

    Team is:

Laird, Lloyd, Simpson, Yeo, Sicily, Doedee (Murphy, Duman)

Danger, Dusty, Cripps, Bont, Titch, Parker, Cogs, Kelly (Barry, Phillips, Armo)

    Gawn, Nic Nat (MciNerney)

Dalhaus, Heeney, Fritsch, Billings, Guelfi, Higgins (Scheer, Keefe)

    300k in bank

Thinking Higgins out and Armitage which leaves me with 850k for Walters in midfield and Tim Smith up forward. Then next week Billings, Fritsch and Guelfi out for Fyfe, Gray, Swing walters forward and get a rookie forward.

Team will then be Doedee, Simmo, Sicily, Laird, Yeo, Lloyd (Murphy, Duman)

Fyfe, Danger, Cripps, Bont, Parker, Cogs, Dusty, Titch (Kelly, Barry, Rookie)

Walters, Gray, Heeney, Dalhaus, T. Smith, Rookie (Scheer, Keefe)

I’ll have 13 trades after all these moves and can then look to move on Kelly, Doedee and Smith at their byes for 2 more premiums.

    1
    1. trade out murphy , switch keefe into def , trade in smith fwd
      Kelly out rocky in ,
risky 2nd trade but should help you through the byes with extra player & extra 300k cash for upgrades re armo Phillips higgins guelfi billings R 13-14

  7. $337.5K, T.Kelly & Z.Langdon to S.Coniglio & M.Walters. $54.7K
    T/U Good Trade
    T/D Bad Trade

    Feedback is welcome

    1. This finishes off my midfield that consist of Macrae, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Cripps, Mitchell, Oliver, Coniglio & Martin.

      7

      1
  8. For now it will just have to be T.Kelly down to T. Smith
Until the teams have been named, if I get no defenders back I will upgrade a rookie to a Premo.

    5

    0
  9. Also how many Freo players are to many
Walters looks lucrative and is a bargain, but I already have Fyfe, Mundy, Duman and Brayshaw ( I know rookies don’t really count)

That’s two premos already and I really like the look of Ryan and Walters but I’m avoiding them because having to many could be a bad decision

    3

    1
  10. Finally getting rid of the stain that is Goldstein. Grundy in. Looking forward to the 40 odd point increase a week

    11

    2
    1. grundy looks a safe bet , of the 11 rounds left , 8 are @ the G ,
of the away games , goald coast , bris & swans shouldn’t pose too many probs ..

      3

      0
  11. Playing for league. T Kelly and Dunkley out. Looking at T Smith and one of:

T/U Most likely Walters given the bargain price
    T/D Danger, cause Danger
    Comment Boak for bye structure

Thinking Walters in this week and Boak in next week, Danger in after bye. I’m basing this decision mainly on likely price changes as Danger and Boak aren’t likely to skyrocket.

    13

    12
  12. TU – T Kelly and Fritsch to T Smith and Danger

TD – T Kelly and ZGL to T Smith and Westhoff (bye friendly) / Walters (cheap) / Curnow (Danger-like numbers) / Treloar (Danger-like numbers)

    What do you guys think?

    Current on field:
M – Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Oliver, Cogs, Martin, T Kelly, Holman
F – Darling, McLean, Gray, Heeney, Smith, Fritsch

    8

    8
  13. Passing on Rocky.. disaster waiting to happen…. again!

    TU: Doedee> Rice… Kelly> Dangerfield

    Means Rice plays on field

    TD: ZLangdon> Smith…. Kelly> Walters

    1

    26
  14. Real torn this week.

Smith in is a must so going barry – smith via dpp since barry isn’t getting a game and scores horribly when he does.

Then thinking kelly to heeney (will swing him forward in a week or two) however don’t want to miss the rocky or walters boat?!?!

    T/U kelly – heeney
    T/D kelly rocky/walters

    20

  15. Alright new one:

TU: Fritsch + J Kelly –> Danger and T Smith
    TD: D Barry + J Kelly –> Walters and T Smith

Both leave me with about $100k ITB.

With option two, I can still have Danger round out my mids down the line, he’d get the last spot.

And I can replace a non playing D Barry with T Smith and Fritsch battling it out for F6.

    Current on field:
M – Fyfe, Cripps, Titch, Oliver, Cogs, Martin, T Kelly, Holman
F – Darling, McLean, Gray, Heeney, D Smith, Fritsch

Appreciate comments as well. I can afford any premo with option one, and have about $523k for a premo with option too (JUST miss Hoff).

    3

    18
  16. Will be trading in T Smith this week, but which rookie to trade out?

TU : D Barry – was going to hold for bye cover but not playing anyway
TD: Giles-Langdon – not doing much and gives me a extra $48,000 in the bank for upgrades

    11

    14
    1. Same idea as you, and surprised ZGL getting the down votes vs non playing Barry. I think I’ll decide based on whether Barry makes the team this week.

      1

      0
      1. Or next. Am holding Barry til the last minute, just in case someone goes down and he gets a run through the byes.
If you don’t NEED to trade him this week, it’s a HOLD from me.
I held Doedee for different reasons but the same ‘just in case’ thoughts applied.
Same goes for L Murphy. Next week, not this. You never know in this wonderful game, but it pays to be patient and consider every eventuality. They can’t lose value if they don’t play. They can only gain if they do. Nothing to lose, until the byes start for real anyway.
        Just some thoughts. Good luck.

        3

        0
    2. If you know you need the extra money then ZGL would make sense. If not, replacing a non-playing player with a playing one over the byes is probably a good idea. Also, Barry has an average of 46.6 and is not likely to score well or make much money even if he does play. ZGL is not a lot better, but is more likely to get you a decent score if playing. Also ZGL is more likely to play, if you are worried about warm bodies for R14.

  17. A question for Fremantle fans, or those otherwise familiar with the Dockers’ list:

The usual FURL stuff aside, how secure is Luke Ryan’s current role?

    17

    0
    1. I traded in Ryan last week with his very low break even

I felt he was great value at under $450k

Now at 501k he is similarly priced to Simpson and Sicily.

His round 14 Bye is troublesome but I can’t see anyone else at Freo taking his current role.
I’m hoping he can finish the year somewhere in the top 8 defenders.

I would ideally want Yeo,Lloyd,Laird, Simpson and Sicily before I picked Ryan.

Webster,Hurn and Hurley are the only other defenders I would really consider.

Guys like Howe , Heater and Savage are all just as likely to loose you a league game as win you one.

best of luck for the rest of the year.

      1

      0
    2. I have had Ryan for about 5 weeks now, few low scores but big ones make up for it. Remember hes only played 21 AFL games! Loves an intercept mark, think last year he equaled or broke the AFL record for intercept marks in a game. Gets plenty of kicks too.

      1

  18. I know this is very situational, but how many trades should u have now? Is there a rough way to calculate how many trades u should have after rounds?

    Furthermore
TU: LACHLAN Murphy and tim Kelley for Tim Smith and Kade Simpson
TD: KELLY for Rockcliffe and say billings or Fritsch for Smith?

I want all my players playing through byes. I have 15 trades left and top of all leagues.

    11

    1
    1. 15 trades I reckon is pretty good. Fairly new to this so probably doesn’t count for much.
      TU looks good tho’.

      3

      0
    2. You would want at least 2 for each spot that still needs upgrading, plus an extra 5 or 6 at this stage of the year for LTIs, plus maybe a spare trade or two for emergencies or late-season luxury trades.

So, if you have 3 spots that still need upgrading, then 15 is pretty good, whereas if you have 5 spots to go, then 15 might be cutting it a bit fine.

  19. Decisions decisions….

    T/U
    Naughton < Smith ( via Keeffe )
    Kelly < Dangerfield

    T/D

    Kelly < Walters

    Cheers Catta

      1. Trade Naughton out, Move L.keefe from forward to defence where Naughton was then since fwd spot open T.smith Comes in

        2

        0
    1. I also want both Walters and Danger, but Walters is likely to go up in price a lot more so bringing him in first.

  20. Am Playing for leagues so not to fussed about r14
    TU:
    T Kelly > Mclean
    Henry > T Smith

Week after fritsch > mid premo (oliver, neale)

    TD:
    T Kelly > Walters
    Henry > Smith

Week after fritsch > mid premo (have extra cash)

    12

    7
  21. TU – J Higgins > Rocky
D Barry > Smith (via Spargo)

    TD – J Higgins > Rocky
    Z Fisher > Walters

    Have $192k itb

    3

    5
    1. I’d be looking at this trade once you don’t have any better/more valuable trades to make.
If you’re already in that position then go for it!

      2

      0
    2. He’s a must-have for me as my R2 is averaging 98, but I still have better trades to make until after Grundy’s bye, Rd13.

      4

      0
    1. Have to agree with Matt. I know he’s been scoring well but as a key DEF he’s just as likely to have a run where he averages 40-60!

      2

      0
  22. had a donut down back and I’m sure I wasn’t alone…still scored 2533. will get smith t this week, but who down back for finlayson assuming he’s out again…..rice or heron ? heron has had his bye and is cheaper, but im concerned about the john glenn rule. rice has the r14 shocker bye.

    T/U rice
    T/D heron

    9

    1
  23. Could really use some advice on this one. Want to get Oliver in soon but his high BE (154) compared to Walters low BE (27) is making me think.

    TU: T Kelly + Garlett > Oliver + Smith ($124k ITB)
    TD: T Kelly + Garlett > Walters + Smith ($271k ITB)

Never been able to trust Walters due to him being injury prone but he’s looking great value this year.

Would leave me with 15 trades left.

    0

    18
    1. Rice if you have to do it this week. If not, might be worth waiting to have another look at L Austin.

  24. Hey guys
    murray-Rice and Kelly-Dangerfield
    or
    Henry-Smith(Melb)-Kelly-Dangerfield
    Which is the best option?
    cheers

    19
    1. Think fyfe is more prone to up and down sores, so there will be a point where he is ‘cheap’, Danger seems on the up now….so Danger seems more of a priority at this stage

      1

      1
  25. Wondering if I need to do my 2nd proposed trade of Cole to Rice? Currently have 18 trades, and will be doing D Barry to T Smith.

TU – 1 trade only of Barry to Smith, Cole has some price growth left in him
TD – both trades of Barry to Smith AND Cole to Rice, to generate some cash for the bye rounds
NOTE – only doing the one trade leaves me very little spending money

    0

    9
  26. I dont have Dusty or Danger, has worked out pretty well to date, but gotta get both in to finish mids…do I:

TU: kelly, zgl > dusty, smith – meaning danger is unattainable until post bye
TD: kelly, naughton > smith, rice – then have bank for danger next week….?

    2

    8
    1. I have same issue, dont have either. Dusty is bargin cheap this week, hard to turn down. Also need Walters and Tim Smith!

      1

      0
  27. Need to upgrade mids

TU: Doedee > Rice.. TKelly> Dangerfield (Rice on field)

TD: Holman> Giro( If named .. yes going really early but can play)
    TKelly> Cripps..
    Spargo M8

    3

    4
  28. Thinking about getting Gaff in. How does this sound?

T/U: Bont and D. Fogarty OUT for Gaff and Walters.
    T/D: A different trade

    2

    9
    1. What are everyone’s thought on Bont?

After 2 scores under 70, including 47 last week, is he worth keeping?

      5

      2
  29. Still have Doedee and Rice/Murphy as D5 & D6, Fritsch, Smith, Henry & ZGL as F5-F8 and T Kelly as M8
Who is the higher priority? Kelly out for…
TU: Walters in MID to swing back into FWD when upgrading Henry/ZGL.
    TD: Simpson
Comment: Gaff – can easily cover him next week

    Cheers

  30. Thinking of the following trades
Mirra to Savage. T Kelly to Walters

    TU Good Trades

    TD. Think again
    Thanks for your help

  31. Hey coaches,

    Can you please recommend!

T/U: Bont, D. Fogarty OUT for Gaff, Walters

T/D: Murray, D. Fogarty OUT for Rice/Ridley and Walters

    1

    11
        1. Billings ain’t a premo tho.

@ OP T/D for sure. Bont had a bad game last week but for the previous 3 weeks had 120+ each game. Easy call

          1

          0
          1. No but he started off as one and apparently sc rule 101 is to never trade a premo. Wish I didn’t listen to that stupid rule at the star when I was contemplating downgrading him to Toby McLean.

            0

            0
  32. T Kelly & ZGL OUT

TU: M Walters & T SMith (both in FWD, swing Spargo into MID)

    TD: Rocky & T Smith

Will leave me with 15 Trade and approx $500K either way

Comment: Thoughts on Rocky next week, via J Henry and Spargo DPP

  33. Keen to get Smith and Rockliff in this week, but can’t decide how and need your help.

I can either get rid of Garlett (does F all) and Taranto (BE of 119 and not sure if will maintain his decent start to the year), which will leave me with $136k to make further upgrades in coming weeks. If Taranto can refind his feet, it means I’ve lost a decent FWD option.

Or I can trade Zac Langdon (BE 34) and Andrew Brayshaw (BE 46), as both are close to maxed out, thus allowing me to keep Garlett for his DPP flexibility and Taranto as potentially a FWD keeper. Unfortunately it only leaves me with $17k in the bank.

    TU Garlett and Taranto
    TD Langdon and Brayshaw

    1

    3
    1. Think Langdon and Brayshaw (especially) have more upside to offer.
Garlett isn’t playing and if he does, will likely lose money.
I’d do T Smith IN for Garlett and save the other trade, unless you can do a genuine UG. IF you think Rocky is genuine then do it, but do you not have a better OUT option than Taranto? eg someone else who isn’t playing every week. Need to get rid of all dead wood before the byes, that’s all.

      1

  34. I traded Josh Kelly to Jack Ziebell as a POD 3 weeks ago but I’ve grown impatient with him (it made perfect sense at the time because north were flying).

    Ziebell to:

    TU: Dylan Shiel
    TD: Brad Ebert

  35. So with howe out (traded him in last week)

I now have 1 short in def as i do not have a reserve

Tu – sideways trade to another premo
Td – trade coffield to rice so i dont donut (ranked 400th)

  36. Hey guys, looking for some help deciding on which trades to do this week.

TU: Delidio and Kelly to Danger and Smith (+160k)

TD: ZGL and Kelly to Walters and Smith (+100k)

    Cheers.

  37. Really considering DBeams at M7..seems his relinquishing the captaincy has helped his form..

Only have 510k to spend upgrading TKelly ..

Other options are JKennedy(SYD), Parker, Pendels.. could even bring in a Boak or Walters & move forward later..

    TU: Beams or other options

TD: Hold off for a Danger, Cripps in coming weeks

    Comments appreciated

  38. Wanna go this round

    B. Gowers -> T. Smith
    A. Brayshaw (freo) -> M. Walters (via dpp)

But now with Dave Mirra dropped and I still have Sam Murray at D6 I’m potentially copping a donut. Thoughts on what i should do coaches?

TU: stick to original plan, cop the donut
TD: sacrifice getting in Walters, trade Murray instead.

Seems Tim smith trade is a lock so sacrificing that trade seems out of the question. Was hoping I could wait on Murray to get final defensive upgrade to Hurley after his bye.

    Thoughts much appreciated

    0

    1
    1. Depending on your focus (overall vs leagues) I’d be copping a donut and sticking with the plan if I was in the same spot.

That said, must get T Smith whatever you do. If you then have enough for a genuine upgrade, eg Murray/Mirra to Brayshaw, then do it too.

      0

      0
      1. So u reckon ditch the Walters trade?
I don’t really know what I’m going for, started off going rank and then I dropped a bit and now I’m 11,000 so rank kinda sucks and I do wanna win my league too so both kindve…. really though I think my priority is rank. Have 17 trades if I use two this round btw if that helps.

  39. planned on bringing in T.Smith in this week but have coffield, murray and murphy in the backs so will cop a donut if they don’t get a call up. is it worth trading in ridley/rice to cover the donut and get me 50 points approx or bring in smith anyway and enjoy the price rises? other trade is kelly to danger.
    T/U smith
    T/D ridley/rice

i guess something to consider is will these defs get a game any time soon as well…….

    1

    2
  40. Would really like the two targets I should go for this week. 18 trades – 81K

DEF: Laird, Simpson, Shaw, Yeo, Doedee, Sicily, (Cole, L Murphy)
MID: Fyfe, Danger, Titch, Dusty, Cogs, T Kelly, Spargo, E Phillips (Barry, Brayshaw, Holman)
    RUC: Gawn, NicNat (Olango)
FWD: Heeney, Maclean, Buddy, D Smith, Billings, Petracca (Guelfi, Fritsch)

  41. Tim Smith for Jack Higgins locked in.
    Trading out Tim Kelly.

    TU – Walters
TD – Dangerfield ($900 to spare)
