With the Bye Rounds nearly upon us, there might need to be a small tweak or two. So who tweaks in and who tweaks out?

    1. If NicNat could improve his TOG% then I’d vote thumbs up for him, but doesn’t seem to be getting enough game time to rack up those massive scores atm mate. So Grundy for me.

    1. Bought Simmo last week. Am watching Jonas for another week. Maybe. And good value.
Would swinging Sicily FWD help your bye structure? That’s what I’m planning for Rd12, with Simpson and Yeo already there and only McLean up FWD with the same bye.
The way I’m doing it will be DG Guelfi/Fogarty/Spargo etc. pre-Rd12, up FWD, Sicily swing up and bring in Heron (GCS) or Austin (StK), DEF, spending on how they go next week and how their comparative JS looks. Austin v impressive, but$159k!
Enough. I’m rambling again. Hope it helps and good luck.

      1. Dad jumped early to avoid donut and paid off.

Will fix one of my problem children with him this week.

    1. Better question might be “anyone not bringing in Tim Smith”

Predicted break-even is around -115, which means if he walks on to the field next week and does nothing for the entire game, he’ll still go up by over $50K

      19

    2. Yep for sure.
I’m thinking of trading him in for either Finlayson or Murray via Keefe.
Billings-Sonny Walters also locked at this stage

  1. Something needs to giv in the backline
I’m either going to have to trade or hope for cows to be back in the their respective teams
    Kelly might have to go

    4

    2
  2. Ok Sauce is finally gone and Im looking at either Ryder or Grundy. Ryder is cheaper and is better for byes obvioulsy but Grundy is looking better.
Grundy leaves me with 100k in the bank vs 200k with Ryder.

    TU: Grundy
    TD: Ryder

    40

    17
    1. Remember that that one bye means Ryder averaged 10 points more per game unless you have cover.

      5

    2. I went Nank/Gawn at start of year with byes in mind….its Nank (thank you for your services) to Grundy r14.

  3. Ranked 56. Seriously thinking about going kelly to Rockliff as a pod or am I just being crazy for thinking it might work?

    23

    20
  4. Out: S Lycett, A Brayshaw
    In: P Ryder, T Smith

Approximately 205,000 remaining which is sufficient to bring in Walters for Spargo/Guelfi in RD12.

    10

    2
  5. Kelly for

    TU: Oliver at 566k
    TD: Pendles at 494k

Midfield already has Macrae, Fyfe, Titch, Danger, Cripps, Dusty and Cogs.

You have to prefer Oliver but Pendles price will make the rest of my trades and upgrades easier. Taking away Pendles injury score he’s averaging 106.5, he’s more of a pod and Oliver’s recent form has been Luke warm.

    31

    12
      1. I may be bias because I have him in my team, but really thought Oliver deserved a better score than 98. Thought he should have got to the 110 mark. Just my opinion though, CD obviously have their reasons.
You have a bloody good looking midfield by the way!

        9

        1
        1. agreed I posted same on the game day thread. 31 possessions, 3 marks, 10 tackles and 16 Cp … how does that get to only 98?? Ridiculous and ripped off.

If that was Macrae the last few weeks he gets 130+.

The only thing that could lower his score was 23 by hand … but still 98 is too low??

          6

          4
          1. Oliver had
            16 cp’s = 64 points
            10 tackles = 40 points
            4 effective kicks = 16 points
            21 effective handballs = 31.5 points
            3 marks = 6 points
            3 clangers = – 12 points

            = 145.5 points

            Macrae in R9 had

            25 contested possessions = 100 points
            13 tackles = 52 points
            2 Marks = 4 points
            8 effective kicks = 32 points
            18 effective handballs = 27 points
            0 clangers = 0 points

            = 215 points

            I think that’s pretty fair

            9

  6. TU- Brayshaw and Banfield to smith via Spargo and Treloar/ Gaff
TD- Brayshaw and ZGL to smith via Spargo and Walters

    2

    11
  7. Fyfe danger Cripps Mitchell gaff Coniglio Martin and spargo was my midfield this week. I have Holman on the bench.
Thinking Spargo to rockliff this week as he has look good the past couple of weeks. Also gives me the option of making some money of Holman as a downgrade soon.
    T/U good trade
    T/D bad trade

    6

    7
    1. Actually I swapped Spargo to forward and D.Fogarty to mid and can upgrade Fogarty to rockliff as my M8

      8

  8. Trading out kelly this week and cant afford the preferred option with danger is or could trade out Fritsch to fork out the extra money for danger.
    In- Rockliff & Smith
    Out- Kelly & ZGL
    TU: Good trades
    TD: Too risky will backfire

    17

    3
  9. Higgins to Smith is already done. That leaves me with ONLY half a mil itb

Kelly looks like he is gone but who to trade in will be difficult.
Unsure who to trade in as Josh Kelly looks like someone i want to trade in once he bottoms out as he will act as a pod with only 7% but who else do i trade in when i have Danger Titch Cripps Fyfe Dusty and Zerrett. Macrae is not worth it right now but who would be my best options

    0

    4
    1. Not too sure what you mean about Josh Kelly bottoming out. His last 3 are 108, 91, and 99. He’ll probably shed another 20k after his next outing but that’s about it – then he’ll be priced pretty much at his average (105-110).

      Not saying he’s a bad in but I don’t think it’s a ‘value play.’

      0

      0
      1. he has a BE of 154 and is returning from injury, i want to give him a week or 2 to get himself back into form so i can bring him in at a more value price tag. Looking at last year’s stats he had only 5 games below 100 and the lowest was 88 so he is very reliable even with a bad day but has a high ceiling too with 7 games 120+and 3 140+
Most of his better scores came at the end of the year too

        3

        0
      2. Have to agree Nato. He’ll probably drop at least another $20k up to his bye as they manage his TOG, but from there, the sky’s the limit. Hope so anyway. TopGun

  12. Ive got 18 trades at the start of this week.

Is this an okay-ish number or should I be trying to hold off the trigger for a bit?

    19

  13. For my son’s team, he’s asked me to get the thumbs from the SCT coaches for his planned trades for r11 🙂

    T/U
    ZGL < T Smith
    T Kelly < Dangerfield
    17 trades & $209,100 in the bank

    T/D
    Fritsch < Walters
    T Kelly < Dangerfield
    17 Trades & $51,900 in the bank

    Cheers Catta

    29

    10
    1. Keep in mind that if he takes the T/D option, he is trading in 2 players with the R14 bye in exchange for Fritsch who is playing R14 and still has some money to make.
Depends on the rest of his team, but in my team – R14 is the round in which I will struggle to field a full squad.

      5

      0
  14. TU: Trade kelly to buddy this week and then trade Fritsch to Oliver next week (Oliver will probably be about 20k cheaper)

TD: We need to see more from buddy due to his injury so pay the extra for Oliver this week and wait to see if buddy is worth getting next week

Think I’m going to take the chance on Buddy given his opponent. Brisbane wasn’t the slouch that others expected.

    7

    1
  15. Little thought needed this week.

    Fisher to T Smith
    T Kelly to Rockliff

Will leave 15 trades and $298,000 in the bank.

Kelly’s role change makes holding him for points look like a bad plan. T.Smith in is obvious, Fisher out is also obvious.

    22

    0
  16. TU: Higgins to Smith, Brayshaw to Rockcliff, get Walters in next week
TD: Higgins to Smith, Brayshaw to Walters, get Rockcliff in next week

    2

    8
    1. I just spent 10 minutes looking at the numbers and likely scenarios with Rocky and Walters and I’m leaning towards Walters this week, Rocky next. If Smith wasn’t on the bubble, I’d probably do both this week.

      3

      0
  17. Like others will be going kelly to rocky for first trade
2nd trade will be bringing tim smith in. I feel like none of my forward rookies (fritsch, guelfi, henry) are ready to go so I think this will be the week I finally dump billings (didnt even have him on field this round!)

    10

    0
    1. Walters and T.smith?? Then Danger next week. I think Danger has a 120 BE from memory, although you know playing gold cost..

      11

      1
  18. T/u Fritsch to Walters
T/d Barry to Walters ditch Fritsch in a week or two

Got too many fees forwards for their bye, and can’t ignore Smith’s breakeven.

    0

    18
    1. Barry now. Fritsch + ANO Dee next week.
Need to get rid of donuts on the pine and Fritsch will make a few more dollars this week.

      3

      0
      1. Fritsch has a 3-round average of around 90 since his role change. You’d be crazy to offload him before his bye.

  20. Looking at following:
    Murray and Kelly out,
    Simpson and Walters/ or Rocky?

    T/U – Walters
    T/D – Rocky

    Thanks

    21

  21. ZLangdon to Smith and Kelly to a FWD who I’ll switch later on.

    TU – Boak
    TD – Walters
    Comment – Menegola

FWIW, not fussed by Rd 14 bye.

    3

    12
    1. Hard to pass up Walters at that price, I’m personally thinking Ill go Boak as I am concerned with R14 bye in my side)

Menengola is another one that I’ve been tossing up, but will at least wait until after his bye to seriously look at

      0

      0
  22. Here’s an interesting one, I went early on Smith (happy about it)

T/U – T Kelly to Boak (Can then swing him forward to suit structure post bye)
T/ D – T Kelly to Rocky (Can keep to spare coin to upgrade Spargo/ZGL later)

    5

    10
  23. T.Kelly trade..trying to avoid Danger and go for a POD

    TU: Neale
    TD: Gaff

    (regardless of bye structure)

    1

    19
    1. Having a POD for the sake of it is not a great thing…

Look at it this way – every other team has Danger as a POD compared to your side. Does that sound like something you’re comfortable with?

And another consideration – Dangerfield has looked a bit off the pace this season…but he’s still averaging 117, has dropped below 100 only once (94 against Sydney), and has gone 130+ four times. Imagine what he could be doing if he comes back post-bye fully refreshed.

      8

  24. Unsure of who to bring in to finish my forward line
Have buddy hogan and mclean, looking to bring in heeney in the next few weeks but the other 2 spots are pretty questionable as taranto isnt living up to expecations, any recommendations fellow supercoachers?

    1

    1
    1. The fact that you can’t decide and have had little response is probably because there are dozens of maybes, but nobody is truly putting their hand up as a ‘must-have’.
I’m pretty much done in other positions but am not racing to fill my FWD line, what with decent scoring rookies on the field and no real stand-outs. Am considering Boak at this stage, purely cos of DPP and value through byes (can always be M9/F7 later on). Also TMac because of swing value with Sicily through byes and he’s scoring well. Looked a little laboured yesterday tho’. Not much help sorry.
      Good luck to you.

      2

      0
  25. As a pretty new supercoach player, can i ask why everyone is bringing in rockliffe?
I see that he’s had huge seasons in the past, but he played a full season last year and scored only one 100 in his last 12 games.

    7

    0
    1. i. he is underpriced for the role he is now playing. MID onballer
ii. he started this season, undercooked/injured and playing FWD, hence his rocky-bottom price, and
iii. he finished last season at Brisbane playing a defensive/tagging role, which he did brilliantly, but isn’t SC friendly.

Given his new role (=old role with potential huge ceiling), playing in a decent side (who will be chasing finals/top4 from here), having just had the week off and traditionally a strong finisher to the season, all points to a positive trade.
Add to that he will play every bye round and can eventually go to M9, or be traded OUT should he suffer a long-term injury, there is little downside, UNLESS he picks up an injury in the next four weeks. That to my mind, is the only risk.

      7

      1
    2. Coverage for the byes, and averaging 100 over his previous two games. A risk, but a calculated one for $373k. If he can get through the byes averaging 90+ and making $100k, then he has done his job.

      3

      0
    3. It can serve a few purposes depending on each coaches situation. For me it’s;

      1. Dirt cheap for someone with a proven history of potential scoring
      2. Covers the bye rounds well
      3. Can then be left at M9 for injury cover or upgraded to an uber premo leading in to finals.

      1

      0
      1. I did not refresh before posting the above.. Hence the same answer (minus the delightful pun) as All Saints.

        0

        0
  26. Kelly – Ryan
    Langon – Smith

leaves me Full premo in the backline, Full premo in Mids and Full premo up fwd except Spargo & Fritsch with 13 trades

    6

    0
  27. Too many decisions to make this week with only 2 trades!

T/U – Sauce -> Kreus (friendly r12 bye) & Kelly to Rocky (will mean I miss out on Smith but have bye cover)

T/D – Kelly -> Walters & Giles Langdon -> Smith (will mean I’m stuck with Sauce and pressure mounts on byes but get SMith and Walters at their lowest)

Feel like Kelly needs to go this week and with Smith set to make heaps of cash I don’t want to miss the boat, but the first option gives me safe cover through the byes?

    0

    8
  28. Similarly, what’s the rationale behind the Walters hype? He hasn’t averaged above 90 before. Has he had a role change or something?

    3

    1
      1. Yep, role change. Have a look at his numbers from about this time last year, when he moved into the midfield. He has some off games, but he is an elite forward.

        4

        0
    1. Yep seriously considering upgrading to both Gray and Westhoff next week!

Leaves me one defender off being full premo at round 12 and pretty strong through the byes. Genuinely think both can average at least top 10 here on out

      3

      0
    2. It’s a trap for a couple of years now. It’s nice to have bye coverage, but it’s more important to bring in players who are going to be near the top of the scoring for the rest of the year.

      7

      0
  29. Hey Guys, can someone help? I’m quite high ranked and have 18 trades before this week.

    My team is:

Simpson, Sicily, Laird, Yeo, Lloyd, Doedee (murphy and duman;)

Danger, Cripps, Dusty, Tich, Bont, Parker, Cogs, Walters, (kelly, phillips, Barry)

    Gawn, Nic Nat (MciNerney)

Heeney, Dahl, Fritsch, Billings, Guelfi, Smith (Keefe, Scheer)

I’ve traded out Higgins and Armo for Walters and Tim Smith. Next week I’ll trade out Guelfi, Kelly and Billings for Fyfe, Gray and rookie.

This will leave me with 13 trades.

    My team will be:

Simpson, Sicily, Laird, Yeo, Lloyd, Doedee (murphy and duman;)

Fyfe, Danger, Titch, Dusty, Coniglio, Parker, Cripps and Bont (Rookie, Phillips and BArry)

    Nic Nat, Gawn (MciN)

Heeney, Gray, Walters, Smith, Fritsch, Rookie (Scheer and Keefe)

Then after that Fritsch and Doedee at their bye for Mclean and Howe.

        1. Just curious as to what people think the best move is. Is having 2 forwards and 1 defender who aren’t premium at RD14 ok?

Full premo by rd 16 good?

Used a few trades to correct form and by round 18 have a team with everyone firing.

          0

          0
          1. I think if you’re rookies are high scoring ones, eg Doedee, T Smith and Ronke, it shouldn’t be a problem. Remember, only top18 scores through the byes, so important but not essential. I would try and get there for Rd15 though, given you’d think those above you will be aiming for that at the very least.
One advantage in taking longer, is that it gives you more time to consider the RIGHT premos. For now concentrate on getting:
            i. the highest-scoring ones, and
ii. those that you know are lock-ins for the rest of the year
and so avoiding potential correctional trades that those who go too quick may face. Good luck. Hard innit?!?

            0

            0
  30. Bringing in a DPP for Kelly this week and then swinging them forward in the coming weeks.
Which of these is better for the long haul?
Westhoff has a high ceiling with 2 140+ games but scores either under 90 or over 110 only 1 score in between.
Boak has a 5rd average of 102 which is 5+ on his actual average which is positive signs

    TU – Westhoff
    TD – Boak

    7

    6
    1. I feel like the Hoff is a good emergency loophole option as he can go large while Boak is the safer, more consistent option

Neither really setting the world on fire though

      3

      0
  31. So funny story. Was planning to trade in Phillips this week but was busy all Sat morning and forgot to pull the trigger in time. I was in a rush and planning to trade out Henry so I ended up just throwing Smith into the side and leaving him on field because I have Gray and didn’t trust Langdon to score well. Happiest accident of the year so far.

This week looking to finally get rid of Naughton. Which defender do we like the look of?

    TU: Ridley
    TD: Rice

    5

    16
  32. Is it too early to be trading out Ronke?

I realise he still has some money to make but growth will be much slower now (and limited to about $50k more?) and I honestly don’t expect him to smash out another 120+ anytime soon.

TU: $193k is a tidy profit. Take the money and run!
TD: Still has some upside. Hold fire

    6

    14
    1. I think nearly everyone will have Ronke, Fritsch and Spargo. (Some will have Henry too). Of these 3, Ronke has the highest ceiling, the best couple of opponents before his bye, and the last bye.

I see him as a hold until bye, unless he pumps out another big one. Same with Henry. Spargo (or Kelly if you still have) should be first culled.

      0

      0
  33. I’ve noticed that Robinson isn’t getting much attention. What are people’s thoughts on him?
Mid/fwd alternative to Walters that fits in much better with my byes and has a better scoring record this season.

    3

    2
    1. Seems like an interesting POD.

I think he’s ended up on a few people’s ‘Never again’ list over the years but is putting up some solid numbers and should never get a tag while Zorko is fit.

FWD line is so tricky this year it’s worth a shot

      6

      1
      1. Problem is he sometimes gets used as a tagger himself.

New coach though, and new kids to tag with so it hasn’t really been an issue.

Is on my regrets list, as I had him in my preseason team, with the expectation of more mid time and less tagging. But I won’t be buying him with a 172 inflated price, and a round 13 bye, although ymmv.

  34. Kelly to T.Smith via Higgins DPP

    No Other Trades atm
Thinking on skipping Rice and going for logan austin instead next week (Logan Austin Stk Def) First game score 106 (Doesnt affect my bye structure)

    5

    0
  35. Kelly -> Danger
Mutch -> Smith (nobody else ready to go, and Mutch not playing)

Yeo, Laird, Sicily, Savage, Richards, Murphy (Naughton, Keeffe)
Macrae, Fyfe, Danger, Cripps, Mitchell, Oliver, Coniglio, Martin (Holman, Spargo, Phillips)
    Gawn, Grundy (Olango)
McLean, Gray, Smith, Mundy, Curnow, Fritsch (Guelfi, Smith)

Next four weeks will see Webster, Simpson, Heeney + McDonald round out the side. Should push Charlie Curnow to the bench, with the ability to swing McDonald back if needed.

    3

    1
  36. Would love to get some thoughts on my planned trades this week:

    Spargo to Tim Smith
    Tim Kelly to Walters

    TU: Good trades
TD: Bad trades – downgrade Ronke or Henry instead, or something different

    Thanks all

    9

    2
  37. Billings and Kelly for Danger and Smith?

TU: No, Billings will come good and there are better options
TD: Yes, Danger needs to come in now

    4

    13
  38. Opinions on dumping Higgins or guelfi for Smith. Don’t have any other options unfortunately. Fritsch isn’t ready to go yet.

    TU: Higgins
    TD: Guelfi

    15

    1
  39. Trade out Waterman for:

    TU: Sicily
    TD: Boak
    Comment: Walters

Currently: McLean, Heeney, Buddy, Fritsch, Billings, Waterman (ZGL, Smith)

    11

    2
    1. No idea why people are voting for Sicily. Massive BE and still has the bye to come. Get him eventually, but not this week.

      1

      0
  40. Sandilands has done a decent job for me, but now it’s time to go BE 168 and suffered a concussion so may miss a week. I can’t afford Grundy so do I bring in:

TU Ryder – Concerning article about his week to week struggles or
    TD Kreuzer

    Thanks in advance

    3

    9
      1. Don’t know much about Port. Will Ryder’s ongoing injury improve Westhoff’s numbers?
Kelly out for Westhoff to swing FWD at a later date?

        1

        0
  41. What do we reckon macraes minimum price will get to?

Last spot to upgrade in the mids and I’m thinking smarter to wait for macrae then to upgrade now to someone else, but then I may be waiting too long and miss out on too many points

TU: Upgrade to another premo now
TD: Wait till after Macraes bye, then upgrade to him

Would help if anyone has a rough estimate on his lowest price and what round that will be.
    Thanks guys

  42. A question for Fremantle fans, or those otherwise familiar with the Dockers’ list:

The usual FURL stuff aside, how secure is Luke Ryan’s current role?
