Trade Talk Rd15 – PART TWO

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 26 2018

Looks like there’s plenty to talk about with the reports of Treloar being out for the season.  Who comes in to replace him?  What other moves need to be taken care of?

  3. TU – Fritsch > Smith (ESS)
TD – Martin > Kelly (GWS)
    Comment – save trades

Either trade will leave me with 6 trades left. Kelly’s low BE is really tempting with Dusty’s form slump. Already lost plenty on him.

    1. Six trades to the end of the season could leave you with money on the bench with injured premos and no way to trade them in finals (like happened to me last year) Eg we lost Treloar and Andrews in one round (and others).
      I would hold

      5

      2
  4. 5 trades left and I have to fix Kreuzer, H Andrews and upgrade Holman.
The remaining 2 trades will be spent on Out: L Austin, C Ballard, In: J Webster, 102,400 rookie.

TU: T Goldstein, D Mundy, Def under 450,000
    TD: S Jacobs, P Cripps, J Howe

    Current defence and midfield:
    Def: R Laird, J Sicily, K Simpson, E Yeo, M Hurley, H Andrews, (L Austin, I Cumming)
    Mids: P Dangerfield, N Fyfe, T Mitchell, C Oliver, J Kelly, S Coniglio, O Wines, D Zorko, (N Holman, P Ahern, C Ballard)

Option 1: Guelfi and Ryan out for McLean and Dawson

          1. midfield time significantly boosts his score with TOG also increased.
pitted against the Hof with only one sub-80 score this year!
this decision will go down to the wire me thinks. alot of people were hating on the hoff here last week claiming his scores will decrease.

  7. Going for overall ranking ONLY. Currently 632nd.
6 trades left but Fritsch and Guelfi still on field.
TU: OUT Doedee and Guelfi, IN Redman (loophole option til he returns) and Danger (via Heeney). This will give an ave.+45pts on field.
    TD: save those trades

If TU, I’ll only have 4 trades left BUT, will only be making forced trades from here to season’s end (unless Billings goes well again this week and will bring him in for Fritsch – one trade, straight swap).

    Thanks SCTers 🙂

TU – Yes, go for it
    TD – No, hold off

  10. Used my 2 trades this week to leave 7 trades left. Full premo team except Fritsch but he almost is based on his last 8 week average of 87. Have 172k in bank and ranked 672.
    Next week should I go
    TU – Fritsch to McDonald
TD – S. Martin to Grundy

  11. Change of plans thanks to Treloar injury – considering 2 options – which is best? I currently have 8 trades and full premo except for Fritsch.

    TU: 1 trade: Treloar to a top 10 mid max. $572k , eg. Danger/Neale
TD: 2 trades: Treloar to a cheaper fallen premo, eg. Pendles/Zerrett, which would give me $ to upgrade Fritsch to Buddy

    Thanks guys.

  12. Treloar Injury has forced my hand a bit. I don’t have dusty, but trading him in gives me enough cash to also upgrade guelfi and complete my team. It’s a risk based on current form but he could come home strong. I havnt seen many Richmond games this year, is his poor scoring just a product of a strong Richmond team where points are shared around more? or is his form that bad?

  14. 6 trades left. $3.5K

Mid – Fyfe, Cripps, Mitchell, Coniglio, Ablett, Martin, Oliver, Rockliff (Ahern, Giro, Brayshaw (Freo))
    R – Gawn, Grundy (Olango)
F – Heeney, McLean, D Smith, De Goey, Gray, Fritsch (L Ryan, T Smith)

    Do I :

T/U – Move Rocky to M9 (loophole) and bring in Kelly/Dangerfield via trading Fritsch and Witherden.
T/D – do nothing, remaining trades are precious.

      1. Thanks for the thumbs.

I like Neale but I already own Fyfe, Mundy, Ryan and Giro.

I’m not sure I want to go too many Freo players. They are a very young side and will probably drop off later in the year.

My current thinking is getting Dusty back in ( I traded him R12 for Wines. It helped me navigate the Byes.)

Or wait and target Danger. He could be $180k under his starting price next week.

T/U Dusty …..He is just warming up.

T/D Danger next week…… He won’t ever get this cheap again.

  20. Hey all.

I have made a bit of a blunder through the bye rounds and call upon the Super Coach’s here to help me rectify this conundrum.

Overview: I have a full premo side. $16K in the bank. 6 trades left.
Issue: One of my forwards (Westhoff) is sitting on my midfield bench and I cannot DPP him due to no rookie DPP in my FWD.

    Team:
DEF: Yeo. Laird. Sicily. Simpson. Hurley. Savage
    (BEN): Mihocek. Cumming

MID: Fyfe. Mitchell. Oliver. Dangerfield. Cripps. Coniglio. Zerrett. Martin
    (BEN): Phillips. Ahern (MID/FWD). WESTHOFF

    RUCK: Gawn. Jacobs (BEN): Olango

FWD: Heeney. Gray. McLean. Walters. D. Smith. Guelfi
    (BEN): Keefe. Ryan

So I don’t have a rookie DPP player in my FWD to swing Westhoff in.
I am also a dummy for keeping Ahern in the MID instead of FWD, but this is partly because I traded him in for Holman at his peak.

I have decided there are two options that I can think of, all where I must use a trade.

T/U: Trade Guelfi ($309K) for the cheapest MID/FWD player with reasonable job security in Jeff Garlett ($188K – played 9 games), then swing Westhoff in.
T/D: Trade Guelfi for the cheapest MID/FWD ($102K – probably won’t play), then swing Westhoff in and have a warchest of $223K for possible injury trades.

    Comment for better suggestion.

Really appreciate your help in this Super Coaches!

    1. Guelfi OUT, Westhoff swings FWD, Dawson GCS $102k IN. He’s not a DPP but may provide you with cash following his debut last weekend if he can keep his spot for a couple more weeks 🙂

    1. I’d possibly use Chad as a F7 Loophole on the bench, swing Heneey Fwd and bring in Kelly in the middle, who is your other bench than Robinson in Fwd?

      1. Is the rest of your team full premo? If so, absolutely!!
If not… perhaps just one of them? Whichever is likely to lose more – out
Whoever is likely to increase more – in.

This minimises your chance of traders regret and gives your flakey Crouching Tiger one more chance to fire up this week before you pull the trigger on the second trade.

  23. If you could only pick one, which of these MIDs would you get for the run home?

    TU: Cripps
    TD: Josh Kelly

    16

    8
  24. I read a lot about players having ‘a good run home’. I reckon it means jack if you’re one of the top players. You need to look at which teams have taggers, not where they are on the ladder. Mitchell has 55 odd touches against Pies and yet the suns can keep him quiet with Miller. Lamb from Carlton another pest who can ruin a good back mans day. The draw means zilch.

    3

    1
  25. I have 9 trades left, with one more defender to go before my team is premium, or until the next wave of injuries hits. Considering both these options this week –

Option 1 (TU) Trade out – Rice & Fritsch, Trade in – Crisp/Lloyd & Battle.
This completes all lines, until the hope of a later luxury trade

    Option 2 (TD) Trade out – Rice/ E Phillips & Fritsch, Trade in – J Kelly & Battle
This gives me one “premium” mid bench player (thinking M Crouch) but leaves me with Austin at D6 until I trade in a premium defender – thinking of waiting for Webster upon his return.

Would appreciate the thumbs. Torn between wanting J Kelly in this week with his low BE and wanting to complete my backline.

    9

    0
  26. Trade 1 – flying Ryan to battle 233k left = done

Now trying decide on my second trade

    Option 1 T/U – T.Smith to De Goey at F5 moving Fritsch to F6 – 8.7k left

    Option 2 – T/D – doedee to crisp to complete backline – 102.3k left

    3

    10
  27. Hogan to Westhoff? Already got Tom McDonald stealing the points from him.
Would just be a lux trade and leave me with 4 for injuries

    Tu: Westhoff
    are: Hold

    14
  28. I kinda wanted to have Fritsch as my F7 , but I may have to bite the bullet and trade an almost straight swap for De Goey
T/U Good move, De Goey is going to burn it up with Treloar out.
T/D Bad move, that only leaves you with 6 trades and still another fwd to be full premo.
Comment; Go back to watching the scenery in Norway!

    3

    4
  29. For my last defense upgrade am tossing up between Hurley and Lloyd. Hurley gives me that extra $100k kitty for emergencies going forward (will have 5 trades left). Already have Buddy, Heeney & Parker from Swans and concerned adding Lloyd gives me over-exposure.

T/U take Lloyd as cash is now fairly useless and extra 10 points per game more important
T/D Hurley is ready to pop off his 95 average base as Bombers point on a run to the finals

    2

    9
  30. Looking to fill the last premo mid.

Tu: danger if he falls in price
Td: Martin if he picks up this week

Other option is wait till regular season finishes and pick up the better of Bont/Oliver.

    4

    1
  31. TU: Rice to Smith, Holman to JPK ($2k remaining)
TD: Rice to Redman, Holman to Cripps ($22k remaining)

I feel Smith has better job security (has Lever’s role) and with my other benched defender being Heron, I need someone who will play every week. His DPP also opens up a mid/def swing for me.
However, JPK is the best mid I can afford if I go that route, and will leave me with basically no cash for future injury sideswaps.

    1

    1
  32. Last mid upgrade and team is complete.

TU: Rice to Smith, Holman to JPK (best mid I can afford, $2k remaining).
TD: Rice to Smith, Holman to Gray/Hoff (means my M8 will be Heeney/McLean/etc, $30-40k remaining)

    0

    9
  33. Went early on Redman and want cover for defence – currently have Austin at D6 and Cumming at D8. Will turn Austin into a premium so will likely trade Cumming for some pre-emptive cover. Will need to upgrade Austin though as no one else in defence gives me this option. No DPP mids either.

    1

    0
  34. Also what are people’s thoughts on bringing Dahlhaus in for MID/FWD cover. Only 150k from phillips (priced at 378k) and with Macrae out will get more midfield time (so can be loopholed as well if good enough).

    1

    6
    1. OUT: Austin (assuming not named this week)
      IN: Battle
Will give me approx. 190k for 1 upgrade to Tmac (or next best def or fwd) next week and 8 trades remaining after next weeks upgrade (could be 7 if I need a downgrade as well), although not the best coverage.

TU: Good trade, got enough trades left for injuries/out of form
TD: Back to the drawing board

      3

      0
  35. Final upgrade:

TD: Westhoff (been pretty consistent all year)

Def: Laird, Sicily, Simpson, Howe, Yeo, Richards (Austin, Mihocek)

Mid: Dangerfield, Fyfe, Mitchell, Cripps, Coniglio, Oliver, Martin, Crouch (Holman, Mutch, Giro)

    Ruck: Gawn, Martin (Olango)

Fwd: Heeney, Franklin, Smith, McLean, Walters, Fritsch (T. Smith, Ahern)

T/U: Trade Fritsch and Holman, swing Ahern into the mids and bring in Gray and Battle

Leaves me with 8 trades and $249k in the bank

    T/D: Look elsewhere

  37. What’s everyone’s thoughts on McLean this week? (Playing geelong at ethihad)

    TU: goes big (100+)
    Td: held back again (<80)

He's my pick for the fritsch upgrade not sure if this week is the week though since his BE is above 130.

    1. I have the same midfield Tonestar I’m weighing up the same thing with Kelly. I’m thinking about going with Neale Freo don’t have a bad run home!

      1

      0
        1. I was just thinking nobody is considering Ed Curnow. I wonder if it’s because on occasion he’ll be put in a tagging role as this drops his output (even if it’s only by 5-10 points).

          1

          0
          1. Just looked at his numbers and it makes sense now, he’s put up 95 and 92 post-bye, so probably why people are steering clear.

I’m weighing up what to do quite a bit but am most likely going to bite the bullet and double-upgrade. Surely I can find more cash later if / when I need it.

Two-part question – Holman and JJK to:

            T/U: Kelly and Franklin
            T/D: Neale and Gray
Comment: Neale and Westhoff / Franklin.

I’ve considered some more left-field forward upgrades as PODs (Wallis, de Goey, Hawkins, Crozier – don’t laugh at any of those without looking at their recent averages) but don’t think I’d trust any of them enough to pull the trigger.

            2

  40. M Kreuzer, H Andrews and N Holman will be traded over the next 3 weeks.

    Replacements are

  41. Wanting to upgrade Fritsch at F5.
Already have McDonald, Heeney, Sicily, Gray & Westhoff.

TU – Smith (ESS) – leaves me $55K in the bank.
TD – De Goey (COL) – $85K left.

De Goey is a real POD but Smith has been ultra consistent all season and could end up averaging over 100 if he continues to play well. I’ve been tossing up over this trade all week. Will leave me with 6 trades left to upgrade Austin (DEF) and O’Meara (MID) and Ahern (FWD). Let me know your thoughts SC fans. Cheers

    1. Very hard to split the two of them. Oliver is more consistent and less prone to injury while Kelly is a bit of POD with a higher scoring potential IMO.

  42. Trade this week:
    1) Treloar –> Neale
    2) ZGL –> Battle

    Thoughts?

Injuries stuffed my upgrade plans, but that leaves me with 3 positions to upgrade before full premo (that includes moving Fritsch on).

I can afford any mid (I can get J Kelly), but it might be wise to bring in Neale who has a much easier run home and saves me some cash to be able to straight upgrade.

Or I can go for fallen premo and save more cash.

  46. Brought in Andrews over Crisp last week as a POD to finish my backline. Planning o be full premo this week….now Andrews needs to go, there is too much uncertainty on when he may return.

I’m holding onto Webster until news that he will be gone for the season.
I was thinking Austin out for Battle via Siciliy. And then I was a little stumped what to do. I initially thought Kelly could be the one to target this week, but not sure. Before any trades have been done this week, I have 11 trades and 191k. I’m obviously not full premo, but I’m going for leagues and not overall.

Where should I be looking this week?
