  1. Brayshaw is on the cards to be downgraded. Coffield is an option or i might hold out 1 more week for more options

  2. Clearly a poor choice but I tried Tom Langdon at D3, just hasn’t worked , time to go Tom. Thought he might lift his ave to about 90 but he is being left behind by Crisp, Phillips and others. No more intercept marks , but is anyone doing that very much this season ?

    1. This is my thinking also. You just look at Melbourne’s games and he playing a completely different role, compared to last year

  3. I have two friends who had Billings last year and both commented that he was a frustrating player (one sold him early and the other picked him up after the byes).

Looking at last year’s score he looks like a patchy player or a confidence player who plays in blocks of elite scoring and blocks of mediocrity. We were hoping that the trend towards better scoring at the end of last year would lead to Billings going close to 100 this year, but perhaps he is just an inconsistent player. You can look at the scores below and assume he will bounce back or you can see it as evidence that he’s not a trustworthy player. Certainly the saints aren’t doing him any favours and I still think he needs to play further up the ground.

    Billings in 2017:

    Rounds 1-5: 69.4 avg
    Rounds 6-14: 107.6 avg
    Rounds 15-18: 71.5 avg
    Rounds 19-23: 109 avg

    Overall: 92.7 avg

      1. He sometimes played 50-50 midfield but often played much less than that and scored very well. His heat map was mostly disposals in the forward 50 and at half-forward and he is listed as a forward only for a reason. He is playing less time in the middle than he did last year, like I said above, but are those fluctuations in his scoring because he played less midfield time in those games? I don’t think so. He needs to play more midfield time but the main issue is the guys inconsistency.

        6

        3
        1. Saints have an abundance of middle tier midfielders, most of which can’t play forward. Guess that’s why Billings gets sent forward more.

          2

          1
          1. It’s surely similar to the Walters at Fremantle situation. He’s a good forward but they need him in the middle because of his elite ball usage by foot and the lack of other elite ball users running through their midfield.

  4. got non-playing rookies t. cole (WCE) and dom barry (port). also ZGL but he’ll be back soon.

thoughts much appreciated on – cole to coffield. dont like that he’s 160k, will he be able to generate enough cash at mid rookie price?
    tu – good trade
td – bad, he wont make much cash

  5. I honestly think I’ll sideways twice this week, something I would usually slap my mates for if they mentioned doing such a thing! Goldy and Billings in the gun!

  6. Thinking about the Brayshaw downgrade like others.

Billings and Hibberd the other two on my mind.

    Still have 28 trades left.

    1. Got just enough cash to make Billings –> McLean happen.

Annoying since I had McLean in that spot all through pre-season.

  7. Where do the rage trades begin?? Im gonna be reversing alot of trades this week after some of the scores my players dished out this week!

Goldy is one who im not sold on but im inclined to hold as North play Port Adelaide who are without ryder in a few weeks.

Billings like many is doing my head in after paying over 500k for him! Although theres not many players i could bring in for him (have heeney, mclean, walters, dev smith)

Just gotta hold firm and back them in as trades are valuable !

Tu: old goldy cant come to the phone right now his dead

    1. I’m over Goldys putrid scores too. He’s gone this week. I can’t see him coming good.

  9. after inexplicably trading out Stephenson on Friday night for Henry in a last minute decision, i will be asking on here before doing anything else in the future, lesson well and truly learnt..

jeez Louise I shan’t be letting myself live that 1 down anytime soon.. dead set idiot..

    22

    0
    1. Wouldn’t be so harsh on yourself there OC. Not many would have predicted that Stephenson would kick 5 goals after what he has dished out so far. Just bad luck I think mate. Nothing wrong with making basically a corrective rookie trade. Henry will still make u some cash and hopefully u can use the rest of the money you made on that trade and put it to good use. It’s a long season mate, some good luck is just around the corner

      16

      4
      1. cheers DR for your kind message mate, its tough with the young lads, sometimes it’s genuinely difficult to get a good read on them.. hopefully young Henry ends up making some decent coin to soften the blow..

        7

        1
        1. No problem mate. I’m also feeling your pain with Henry. Chose him over Crowden (who I liked because of his DPP) and put him on field over Fritch. Also got Venables who looks to be sidelined for at least a few weeks. Supercoach and I have such a love/hate relationship! I say never again, yet go back to her every week! Hope all goes well with the trades this week OC.

          8

          0
    2. Hold your guns about Stephenson. Collingwood still has few players coming back and you’ll find that his job secutiry will decrease. I am not sure he’ll kick 5 goals every week for the next 7?

      5

      2
  10. I am normally pretty rational with my trades – think last season I had only used 2 or 3 when the cows started being ready to cull…

We have a few friendly leagues on fan footy UK between various Aussie forums and us Brits – great for a bit of banter and all that 🙂

Anyway – we have a few badges of (dis)honour that we dish out every year..and we have what we call a SC Confessional where the fallen can go to confess their SC sins..we also have one we call the Trade Tagger – someone in the league that kills anyone they ever bring in..

So on Friday I was sitting there, my team had Kelly and Ryan and I had already read the sage like advice from this forum and decided no move needed. I had Findlayson on the bench and I wanted Higgins to replace Ryan so no action needed…right?

Wrong – one of the Aussies in the league started sending out press warnings that Kelly might miss 2 might miss more.

So I did it – the Bermuda triangle of disasters:
    1. I traded out Kelly for Mitchell and made him Cappo (I had not bought any of the big 3 at the start of the season as planned for later) – I know pretty bad move but R1-3 I had scored consistent 22-2300 so not a disaster.
    2. But to make this happen I had to trade Ryan for Henry – even though I didnt really want him he had to come in for the cash.
    3. Looking at the scoring I would have saved 2 trades AND scored 50-60 more points this week by doing NOTHING.

    So – wasted 2 trades
Kept the Findlayson ton on the bench
    Trade tagged Mitchell
    Lost points

    Beat that ……

    11

    3
  11. Zorko is fired. One of Dangerfield and Martin will be his replacement.

I am starting to lose patience with Billings, too. He did start slowly last year as well, so I’m fairly confident he’ll turn things around before too long, but there are only so many bad scores I can tolerate.

    4

    1
    1. I think it looks to be pretty simple with the magician this year mate. Play a hard tag on him and he will struggle to hit 90-100. Let him loose and his ceiling is huge. With Beams looking out of shape and no Rocky this year, I would be expecting him to get some close attention most weeks. I think he certainly has a few big games in him, but wouldn’t be expecting consistent scoring. I’m against sideways trading, but may be time to pull the trigger on Zorks.

      8

      1
      1. I started with him, which is quickly looking like it wasn’t the right move. Given that we know what he is capable of, I’m curious for those that didn’t start him, will you bring him in?

The reason I ask is, if he does score another 100-110 game, then he does drop to 660k this week, but you’re bringing in a guy averaging 105 (or so) – would you not be concerned that level of scoring will hold? What will change to get him back to his 120-130 average?

I don’t have an answer here, I’m just curious.

        0

        2
        1. Sorry to reference my own writing, but Danger’s story at the moment is “Gun getting over a hamstring.” I didn’t really think he would right away, and he isn’t. Missed maybe one too few matches, but they needed him. I’m just hoping his rough patch lasts a bit longer to really help his price go down. I do expect he will be good over the last bit of the year, half or two thirds or something like that. That’s assuming he is not carrying more than we know about, or that he doesn’t get hurt again.

          7

          0
          1. That is my impression too and I see any coaches that didn’t start without him salivating at the prospect of a fair discount (looks like it will be at least 80-100k off his starting price unless he cranks out a monster soon).

I was just wondering because you want to see some sort of form turn-around before bringing in a fallen premo – just as an example, Merrett is around 490k, which is a big drop-off but I don’t think coaches will be scrambling to get him in until he posts up 2-3 good scores.

  12. Bonner, Armitage and Billings – really making me frustrated!! And I’m not exactly sure what to do about them and who to move on first.

    2

    0
  13. Riley Bonner – David Mirra
    Andrew Brayshaw – Nicholas Coffield

Trading Bonner allows me to field Murray, Finlayson & Doedee instead of debating who to field.

    Remaining Salary $342,600.

    T/U Good Trades

      1. Watched Mirra very closely today, lump of a lad that reads the play extremely well!

At $102k, he’s looking like my first $$$$ grab in defence in a few weeks…. if he keeps going.

  14. ok, i’m terrible at supercoach.

I have Tom Hawkins on my team want to get rid of him but not sure who for?

    0

    4
    1. It depends on how much you have in the bank, and who you have already got.

As long as you have $400 in the bank, you can do a straight swap from Hawkins ($436,200) to Charlie Curnow ($436,600).

      6

      2
      1. I didn’t see the game this round but after watching some of the round 3 game against Collingwood, I traded him to Grundy. Kreuz just wasn’t moving around like he usually does and wasn’t impacting contests around the ground (something he needs to do to score well).

I think you’re right and Kreuz will bounce back but it could be a few weeks before he’s moving well again as a result of that groin injury.

  15. TU- Bonner to rookie (free $250k cash), rage trade Billings to Premo (McLean, Menengola, Greene)

TD- Same thing except rage trade kreuz to premo (Grundy)

Comment- Any suggestions like is it worth keeping kreuz? Will he bounce back?

  16. have t. cole (wce) not playing…
tu – trade to coffield this week
td – coffield wont make enough. wait a week and trade to mirra

    15

    8
  17. It will absolutely sucks balls ass if Venables is out for a while. Already Giles-Langdon and Liam Ryan have been traded out of my forward bench and it’s getting silly.

    15

    2
  18. Thoughts on Whitfield i do not like sideways trading as i liked him in his new role just has dropped off last 2 weeks. Was hoping he would stay consistant enough till bye rounds.
TU – He will come good
TD – You need to move him on
Comment – im not sold on the suppossed mid premos just yet (except mitchell , dusty, maybe oliver) as they havent shown the big time yet.

  19. Have been doing night shift and haven’t got to watch much footy, so would love to hear someone’s thoughts on Lachie Neale. Why has his scoring been so off this year? Kreuz and Billings causing trouble too!

    4

    0
    1. I have Neale too. He is getting the possessions, just butchering the footy a bit too much. The signs are there and I think the scores are just around the corner.

  20. Lot of holes to plug with Billings, Hibberd, Brayshaw, Kreuzer

Set on trading Kreuzer for Grundy who is the next highest priority?

    TU Billings
    TD Hibberd
    Comment Brayshaw

  21. Always a bit timid picking Hawks players, feel at time the rose colour glasses hinder your thoughts with your own team!

Had a gutful of Hibberd, got to watch both Hibberd & Sicily live today! Hibberd looks sooooooo lost out there on the hallow turf of the ‘G’ & Sicily looked like the new general of the Hawks defence…although his white line fever worries me without Hodgey around to pull his head in.

    Hibberd out / Sicily in

    25

    1
    1. Agree with you about the rose coloured glasses, as a hawk myself was wondering if it was just me that spotted how well Mirra played. Looked very composed after a few early nervous moments. Loved his work, think Clarko will like him too. Wouldn’t mind seeing him on a dry day against a quick team to see if pace will catch him out, but to see he scored a Sc 70+ as well ! Why isn’t he getting hyped ? Just me ?

      3

  22. Bonner and billings are close.

I was lucky last week chopping Brayshaw and Crouch to bring in Cogs and Sicily. The SC gods don’t smile 2 weeks in a row, so might hold tight.

    3

    0
  23. Hibbert is a shell of the player he was last year. Goldy can’t win a tap out to advantage to save himself and is struggling to find the ball around the group.

Am thinking of doing the unthinkable and doing two side ways trades

TU – Hibbert & Goldy > NicNat & R.Gray (via Sicily to backline)

TD – Cool your heels, Danger is only a couple of weeks away

    16

  24. All right. Got a few premo issues like most but haven’t seen a poll yet to specifically deal with them so here goes the below:

  25. What are peoples thoughts on Dean Kent?
T/U The real deal, bad luck with injuries don’t sleep on this guy
T/D Injury prone teaser, wont keep up these scores, stay away

    24
    1. My advice would be to listen to and then consider the feedback you get, but you should still go with what you think is right. This is the best site on the planet for feedback and golden nuggets of information, but …
I was dissuaded from Parfitt pre-season as a mid-priced POD in the fwd line, Sinclair at R2 and more recently Hogan on the bubble.
I know it’s only early days, but it appears that two of these are having breakout seasons before our very eyes. At least I didn’t listen to the hype around Hibberd, Billings and Zerrett 😉
Good luck … btw it’s a NO from me on Clark ‘superman’ Kent, though he’s more than likely gonna increase c$60k. over the next couple of weeks however he plays. Stepping stone??

      2

  26. Out: Billings and Bonner
In: McLean and someone under 385.9k (not sure who yet)
Will put me down to 26 trades for the rest of the year and left with the Armitage situation to deal with next week.

    T/U: Good trades
T/D: Back to the drawing board

  27. i’ve got sauce jacobs in the ruck and have watched him closely a few times now and just looks to have lost a little this year. has been a great and consistent sc player but set for another price drop and just not quite as consistent as he has been. can grab nic nat on the way up and still pocket some cash and he looks to have another gear to go to.

    t/u: jacobs – nic nat.
    t/d: too harsh, no trade

    11

    4
    1. In same boat re Jacobs and agree with the points you’ve raised mate, think the big Sauce will pump out a few 105-115 games but will more often than drop some of these 65-85 type scores he’s given us so far, but then again he isn’t the Volvo for nothing and will probably end the year with a 90 avg? Nic Nat appears to be being well managed by the Eagles so far, his tog to points is good and if they continue to look after him he’ll only get fitter/stronger during the year, hopefully to increase his tog and inturn his points – plus you get change in your pocket from going Sauce to him!

      Trades then this week:

      Sauce/Brayshaw to Nic Nat/ Coffield

      T/U – good trades
T/D – Too much of a sideways re the ruck changes

      Thanks

  28. Time to clean house – have burnt trades consistently, but this week is no different:

Brayshaw to Coffield, and Billings to McLean.

    Billings utter rage trade

    8

    2
  29. Would love to move on billings/hibberd but I think if I dont jump on grundy this week he will be to expensive so my first trade will be lycett to grundy.

2nd trade will be to bring coffield in. I see alot of people moving brayshaw on for him but not sure if its worth it for 50k so will dump bonner instead (he really hasnt looked that great since picking up lots of cheap stats in rd1 and pittard due back soon).
I liked the look of guelfi so hope he gets a good run (as a bombers supporter and sc coach) and will look to downgrade brayshaw to him in a couple of weeks.

    7

  30. Brayshaw > Coffield is a definite
But who do I bring in for Billings?

T/U Gray (146k in the bank)
T/D Sicily (250k in the bank)

    9

    5
  31. Going Brayshaw to Coffield. Using the other trade to go sideways.
I like Jacobs but I feel this is my last chance to get Grundy.
We all know how awful Hibberd has been, I stuck with him so far but now I think it’s time to go

    T/U-Sauce to Grundy
    T/D- Hibberd to Hurly/Yeo/Simpson

    3

    9
  32. Sitting around 150 and thinking of holding Brayshaw (freo) and Billings for hopeful POD? Also anyone know what the go is with JKelly?

Would love to go Billings to Gray but that bye, the lack of scoring FWD rookies and now the potential decent POD making me think twice. And Bray to Coffield, but tough to swallow wasting a trade on an underdone rookie for an overpriced one.

    What are everyone’s thoughts?

  33. Billings goes this week.

    Options are

    TU Gray
    TD Greene

Currently have Mclean and Heeney from Swans, so don’t want buddy in there with Heeney (Spread my risk)

    7

    9
  34. I am thinking that Coffield would be a worthwhile addition to my team currently ranked 85.
The question is who do I trade out
t/up Bonner (who I started with) and pocket $100K+
t/up Barry and spend a few thousand from the Get Danger fund.
    I still have 28 trades

    11

    0
  35. What to do with Neale
T/U Hold, he will come good and just need to wait it out
T/D Trade, he is bleeding and won’t come good with Fyfe in there

    17

    0
  36. What to do with Kreuzer
T/U Hold, it’s just his groin and he will get through it
T/D Trade, groins are big for ruckmen and will bleed all season

    1

    9
  37. Like many others I have a few premo stinkers, being Hibberd, Billings, Jacobs and Dahlhaus…I am loathe to trade sideways but I feel Hibberd is a lost cause while the others are more of a chance of bouncing back to some degree. So with 28 trades left and most rookies OK, I am allowing myself this one ‘premo correction’. I have Laird at D1 and Sicily D3, looking to move Hibberd on and bring in:

    TU: Hurley
    TD: Simpson

    10

    3
  38. Here’s a point mentioned in the latest phantom article:

“And it’s on the back of time spent up forward. In a year when most of us thought Billings would transition into a full-time midfielder, he’s spent 94 per cent of game-time in the forward-half this year, up from 82 per cent last season.”

Like I said above he was able to score well last year whilst playing forward but he would benefit from an increase in midfield time. Billings has the potential to score well like Toby Greene as a half forward flanker but it would be easier for him to get extra points by moving up the ground.

    2

    0
  39. Hibberd needs to go! Have had enough, have him and Billings, however Billings proved last year to be super up and down, so will hold for now.

Am thinking Hibberd > Robbie Gray via Sicily DPP swing.

    9

    0
    1. I also think that helps you structurally at this stage because I think Sicily is more likely to be a top 6 defender than a top 6 forward.

      3

      1
  40. This is my current team.

    DEF: R. Laird, M. Hibberd, J. Lloyd, T. Doedee, S. Murray, J. Finlayson (L. Murphy, A. Naughton)

    MID: D. Martin, T. Mitchell, J. Kelly, N. Fyfe, P. Cripps, S. Coniglio, T. Kelly, N. Holman (A. Brayshaw. D. Fogarty, D. Barry)

    RUC: M. Gawn, T. Nankervis (T. Olango)

    FWD: I. Heeney, M. Walters, D. Smith, T. Taranto, B. Fritsch, J. Henry (J. Garlett, Z. Langdon)

    $256k remaining

People I have been looking at to trade out is Brayshaw, Fogarty and Hibberd. Also there’s injuries to Josh Kelly and Murphy (apparently did his hammy?). I had to keep Kelly because he was only going to be out for one week, now there’s people here saying he’s out for more. Having Brayshaw being the emergency for him really hurt my score, as well as trading in Henry for Liam Ryan. (only got 2,072 after averaging 2300+ in the first 3)

So coming to who I trade out and trade in, I’m really liking the sound of Brayshaw to Coffield. But I need to make one more trade. I don’t know whether I should downgrade another player or upgrade a rookie.

Who would you trade out and trade in for my team?

    0

    0
    1. I’ve done Brayshaw to Coffield this week. If I were you I’d also go Hibberd to Sicily (or ANO you like). We have very similar teams.
You can put Barry on the field if Jelly isn’t back and loophole Coffield into one of a few players, as you have a number of DPPs you can juggle from your MID/FWDs.

      Good luck.

    2. From what I read on Murphy, it looks like plantar fascitis, which I think he had an issue with a couple years back. Wait for the scans but it may be a(nother) injury trade.

  46. Gidday Everyone, I’m having a shocker, but I honestly do not think my team is that terrible.

    Team is……
DEF: Laird, Hurley, Finlayson, Doedee, Murray, Naughton (Marchbank, Stoddart)
MID: Titch, Oliver, Fyfe, Duncan, Zorko, Kelly, Holman, Dow (Stephenson, Brayshaw, Barry)
    RCK: Martin, Gawn (English)
FWD: Heeney, Walters, Billings, Petracca, Young, Ratugolea (Fritsch, Giles-Langdon)

Looking at trading Brayshaw for Coffield, L.Fogarty or maybe a POD upgrade to Ellis-Yolmen.
Rage trading Billings to Gray, Mundy or Hogan.
Rage trading Zorko to Coniglio or POD option Gibbs/Sidebottom.

    Any suggestions or advice appreciated.

    Cheers, Cougar
