Captaincy Candidates – Round 16

Vice-Captaincy Candidates

DUNKLEY v Tigers

  • L3 v Tigers: 103, 134, 116 (118 av.)
  • L3 @ G: 137, 153, 103 (131 av.)

A must consider VC/C every week. The Tigers not as light as they used to be but it’ll be a lot of repeat stoppages at home. Solid for 120. Taranto also travels quite well if you want to kick things off differently.

DAWSON v Roos

  • L3 v Roos: 145, 134, 99 (126 av.)
  • L3 @ AO: 95, 120, 89 (101 av.)

Expect all Crows to feast on the Roos for 120+. Have named Dawson here just because there’s a slight chance Scott, who tagged in North’s last game before the bye, goes to Laird.

BONTEMPELLI v Dockers

  • L3 v Dockers: 182, 100, 149 (144 av.)
  • L3 @ MRVL: 169, 125, 113 (136 av.)

Freo bizarrely let him off the hook earlier this year but even in review there really isn’t a match up that can be sent to him. High stakes, at home, 130+.

Captaincy Candidates

DAICOS v Suns

  • L3 v Suns: 143, 75 (109 av.)
  • L3 @ HBS: 143 (143 av.)

Played completely on ball last week and looked superb. The Suns engine room has lost of lot of its potency over the last month, so consider Daicos a lock for 125.

PETRACCA v Giants

  • L3 v Giants: 116, 123, 83 (107 av.)
  • L3 @ TP: 141, 127, 52 (107 av.)

Goes quite well at Traeger Park and will once again have to be the Dees main man. Giants could get on top OB but there’s still total economy there for Petracca. Solid for 120.

SINCLAIR v Eagles

  • L3 v Eagles: 117, 96, 66 (93 av.)
  • L3 @ OS: 117, 114, 96 (109 av.)

Even with an anticipated response from the Eagles they should still bleed mass SC points. You can expect the Saints’ best, Jack Sinclair, to collect a healthy amount. A look for 130, with RoMo also a nice shout.

Steer Clear

MERRETT v Port

  • L3 v Port: 106, 73, 130 (103 av.)
  • L3 @ AO: 106, 134, 130 (123 av.)

Just a cautionary Steer Clear because Zerrett has copped more tags than any other MID this season, Port are quite dense OB and they have Drew in the holster who can match up against him perfectly and drop him to a flat ton. Can still see him fighting very well.

Smoky Pick

LIBERATORE v Dockers

  • L3 v Dockers: 140, 95, 102 (112 av.)
  • L3 @ MRVL: 115, 139, 122 (125 av.)

Coming in for many as that final MID and with combination of consistency, ceiling and coal face economy makes for a POD VC/C for those who sense some degree of containment with Bont. Brayshaw and Serong should step to the Doggies in the first instance and force a contest, giving Libba plenty to do. On for 125.

History

  • Round 1: Green 132
  • Round 2: Baird 147
  • Round 3: Satan 156
  • Round 4: Tingles 145
  • Round 5: Tingles 137
  • Round 6: Miller 40
  • Round 7: Satan 134
  • Round 8: Satan 136
  • Round 9: Tingles 88
  • Round 10: RoMo 126
  • Round 11: Baird 115
  • Round 12: Daicos 123
  • Round 13: Daicos 118
  • Round 14: Dunkley 137
  • Round 15: Gulden 164

Verdict

The task is splitting Bont and Dawson on Saturday afternoon and then choosing Dunkley or Daicos either side of them. At this stage it’s Bont into Daicos for me.

          1. Wouldn’t they tag Dawson after last week? Scott has gone for those half back / mid types in the past as well

  1. Have gone through my past captains for the year, 132av, but last 10 weeks a 144avg. interestingly in that span I have used 10 different captains, think that spice and not just relying on Bont/Laird/Dunks every week allowed me that. Having Clarry sit on the pine for what feels like last 37 weeks also spiced things up…
